My December
December is the most anticipated month of the year. Some would say it's the most wonderful time of the year because so many people are excited to receive gifts, Christmas bonuses, and to have reunions with family, time to relax, and a long holiday. But with these varied joys, many forget the true essence of Christmas, which is about remembering the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As December approached, I couldn't help but feel excited and happy. I was looking forward to a break from school, receiving gifts, spending more time with my family without worrying about assignments, and, most of all, singing in the choir to commemorate and remember the birth of Christ. Finally, December arrived, full of joy and excitement for the activities to come.
The first event I remember from last December was our classroom Christmas party. That day was so much fun: we played games in the classroom, sang together, enjoyed delicious food, and exchanged gifts. Yet, despite all the fun, I still felt like something was missing.
Soon after, Christmas break began. We packed our things, and I was thrilled to go back to my hometown to celebrate Christmas with my grandparents. When we arrived at their house, we unpacked, went to our rooms, and rested since it was already late at night.
Next, we practiced Christian songs at the church in preparation for our Christmas Cantata. When the day of the Cantata arrived, amidst the quiet and calm night, we sang Christmas songs before the congregation, each note honoring the birth of Christ. Being part of the choir and singing for the glory of God was truly a privilege, and I felt deeply satisfied in that moment.
But my Christmas experience didn’t end there. We then attended a youth Keswick Conference. It was so enjoyable to meet other young people from neighboring churches, play games, listen to other church choirs, and, most importantly, hear God’s word. Right after the five-day Keswick Conference, we participated in a choir festival at our church. Although we were exhausted from the conference, we managed to enjoy the choir festival.
Finally, our family clan had a reunion, though my tito and I couldn’t make it because we were too tired from all the events on that same day.
Looking back, last December was a wonderful experience filled with memorable events and meaningful celebrations.
