Big Kid Math - Fugo x OC prologue
Summary: How Belladonna met Pannacotta.
((Drawing by @nevui-penim-miruvorrr))

Adrian Zepelli brought his little girl, Belladonna, to the small workplace party taking place at the Villa of his boss, Sergio. Belladonna was excited at first, but soon grew bored and ran off to explore the large property. As the 6 year old wandered around, she came across a boy her age sitting alone on a bench, scribbling away in a notebook.
"Hi there," Belladonna said tentatively, taking a seat beside him.
The boy looked up from his notebook. "Who are you?"
"I'm Belladonna," she replies “I'm here with my dad, Adrian. Who are you?"
The boy hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'm Pannacotta. Sergio's son."
Belladonna didn't know who Sergio was, but she was interested in the boy's notebook. "What are you working on?"
"I'm doing algebra," Pannacotta said, his voice soft and shy.
"Algebra?" Belladonna repeated, intrigued. "What's that?"
"It's like big kid math," Pannacotta explained.
Adrian had been watching Belladonna as she played with the other children at the party, but when he turned his attention away for just a moment, she was gone. He searched the area frantically, calling out her name, but there was no sign of her.
He felt a sense of panic rising in him. This was the kind of behavior he expected from his son, Luigi, not his daughter. That was why he had left Luigi at home and brought Belladonna to the party instead. He couldn't afford any missteps in front of his colleagues and their families. He had worked hard to build his reputation as a responsible and reliable employee, and he didn't want anything to ruin that.
As he continued to search, his mind raced with all the worst-case scenarios. What if she had been kidnapped? What if she had run off with some stranger? What if she had been hurt? He tried to push those thoughts aside and focus on finding her, but it was hard to do.
Finally, he saw her sitting on a bench with a boy he didn't recognize. He felt a wave of relief wash over him as he approached, but he was still worried. What had she been doing all this time? Had she been behaving herself?
“Bella!” he called out, running over to her. "Are you okay? I've been looking for you everywhere."
"I'm fine, Daddy," Belladonna said with a smile. "I just got a little bored and wanted to explore."
Adrian tried to keep his frustration in check. "You know you can't just run off like that, Belladonna. I was so worried."
"I'm sorry, Daddy," Belladonna said, her smile fading. "I didn't mean to worry you."
Adrian took a deep breath and looked at the boy sitting beside her. "And who is this?"
"This is Pannacotta," Belladonna said. "He's really smart. He was teaching me algebra."
"Algebra, huh?" Adrian said, his interest piqued. "That's pretty advanced for your age." Adrian looked at Pannacotta, but the boy just looked down at his notebook and didn't say anything.
Sergio approached them, having overheard their conversation. "Pannacotta is quite the child prodigy," he said, sounding impressed. "And it seems like he's found a kindred spirit in your daughter, Mr. Zepelli."
Adrian felt a sense of relief that his daughter had made a good impression on his boss. "Yes, it looks like they had a great time together. Thank you for having us, Signor Fugo.”
Sergio nodded. "It was my pleasure. I'm glad your daughter was able to make a connection with my son. Maybe they'll be able to teach each other a thing or two."
Adrian smiled and put his arm around Belladonna. "I have a feeling they will," he said, looking down at her.
Belladonna giggles and hugs her father.
Adrian smiles and ruffles her hair.

Habits
((Warning: mention of CSA))
Giona: I still can't believe the crap that comes out your mouth, Zola.
Jimmy: The crappiest things comes out of the best mouth.
Ricotta: Please leave his mouth alone. It’s suffered enough.
Cara: What?
Zola: She’s exaggerating.
Javi: Oh what? Rich boy suffered eating spicy marinara and caviar?! lol
Zola: Lucky guess. That’s what Principal Marcano would feed me.
Cara: What?
Javi: Oh, that seems nice of him!
Ricotta: Zola, don’t go there-
Zola: Yeah, had me put all sorts of stuff in my mouth.
Everyone: ……
Zola: Like a banana, wasabi, popsicles, lollipops.
Cara: That’s not…. too bad-
Zola: Licking his fingers and balls was gross, though!
Javi: There it is.
Cara: OH MY GOD! D:
Zola: It's okay! It's okay! I got money out of it!
Javi: THAT'S NOT OKAY!
Zola: You wanted me to do that FOR FREE?! Why would I fuck a 60 year old for free?!
Cara: THAT'S NOT THE POINT! Oh my god! DX
Ricotta: Fratello has a habit of doing that.

(Mental) Health
Warning: Implied thrawted attempt at CSA, Hurt/Comfort
Seeing Gorgonzola on the floor is heartbreaking. The boy sobs and screams hysterically. How could he be so weak? How could let himself get captured by those men?! He’s so pathetic. Pathetic. Pathetic! PATHETIC!
“Come here, son.” Pannacotta gently places Gorgonzola in his lap. “You’re safe, now.” He cuts the ropes from his son’s wrists and ankles. He embraced his son. He frowns, realizing he hasn’t embraced his own child like this since he was an infant. “I’m so proud of you.”
“I WANNA GO HOME!” Gorgonzola shrieks hugging his father tight.
"Zola?"
Gorgonzola recognize that gentle but firm voice anywhere. "Aunt Sienna?" he mumbles.
"Yeah." Sienna sits beside Gorgonzola, trying not to cry. "We came all the way from Naples to get you." She slowly places her hand on the boy's head, relieved when he allows her to do so. "We were so scared we couldn't save you. Everything will be okay now. We wont let them hurt you anymore."
"Grazie." Zola sobs.

This could get gruesome.
((Author's note: Inspired by Cry by Ashnikko))
((Warning: I guess a small torture scene and description of a mutilated corpse.))
Ricotta is one not to be messed with.
“HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO MELANIE?!” Ricotta said, sobbing, “WHAT?! You thought if you get me angry that I couldn’t think straight?! IS THAT IT?!”
“AH!” The man shrieks as Ricotta pounds his hand with a hammer over and over and over again.
“YOU THINK THAT SHIT WAS FUNNY!?!?!”
“Wait! I can give you more information-“
“I DONT WANT YOUR INFO! I WANT YOUR BLOOD!” Ricotta roars at him.
The man stare right into Ricotta’s eyes and was horrified. This was not the 14 year old composed child genius he was told about. This….was a psycho. This was an unhinged monster pushed to the edge. This was an animal ready to rip apart its prey. He realized he made a mistake and he was paying for it more than he can ever imagine.
He made a terrible miscalculation. He thought getting her emotional would mess with her thinking. He didnt foresee her stand’s ability being basically a sentient super-AI. He wasn’t planning on Rag-N-Bones to undermine him. Now he realized the only thing he shut down was Ricotta’s capacity for mercy. Her anger isn’t a hinderance. It’s her motivation.
“When I’m done with you….” Said Ricotta, “No one will identify your body.” She brings out a knife, “And you’re going to feel the process.”
Two days later, a male body was discovered at a suburban house. Finger tips were burnt off, teeth smashed with a hammer, and face sliced off with a rusty blade. Police have reasons to believe this is the work of the notorious NOLA butcher. The city of New Orleans is yet again shaken by these deprave displays of death.

Drinking sorrows
((Author's note: Implied past ab*se of minors.))
“I have a confession.”
Gorgonzola had to be keep from rolling his eyes. He knew Alessandro drinking was a bad idea. Now he’s trying to drunk confess.
Alessandro continues, “I tried to take advantage of you. Not because I was forced to, but because I wanted to be cruel. I wanted to know what it felt to be in control, and I enjoyed it.”
“Then why did you stop?” Zola asks.
“Because I didn’t like who I was becoming-“
“Do you honestly think Marcano would give a shit? In the years you’ve known him, have you ever saw him feel guilt?”
“………I haven’t.”
“Then stop it. The fact you still have a conscious proves that you’re a good person. Don’t listen to what Ricotta says. She doesn’t know your story and she doesn’t know what we know. Besides, she’s a bitch. She gets off on making people feel like shit.”
“That…. actually is a good point.” Alé smiles, “Thank you so much, Zola.”
“You’re welcome amore.” Zola hugs him, “We wouldn’t have even gotten this far if it wasn’t for you.”
Alessandro learnt something that day. He’s trying to help Gorgonzola heal, but he needs to heal too. Perhaps he’s not beyond saving, after all.

Cold
January 2nd 2023 was a cold day in Naples.
The children shiver as the cold wind hits their face in the graveyard.
“Hey guys,” said Jimmy to three gravestones, “Mrs.Fugo and I wanted to visit sooner, but I dont think she had the heart for it yet. You know, since its her first Christmas without you two there. She managed! She only cried once during the holidays!”
Giona frowns deeply at the gravestones. “Dad finally grew those Juliet Roses you liked so much. It would have been nice to see your reaction.”
Giona places a Bouquet of white and orange roses onto one of the gravestones:
‘Ricotta Fugo
April 4th 2008 - July 30th 2022’
“Hell, he even grew those chocolate cosmos you two talked about.” Jimmy scoffs, “I thought you guys were bullshitting.” He places two bouquets of red flowers on the gravestones to Ricotta’s right.
‘Gorgonzola Fugo'
March 24th 2010 - July 30th 2022’
‘Alessandro Peppone'
November 15th 2007 - July 23rd 2022’
Then there was a silence, only filled in by the cold wind blowing through. There wasn’t much else to say. Everyone’s already cried their tears, screamed their frustration, and pointed fingers at every person they felt responsible for the lost of three beautiful lives. After nearly 6 months, everyone’s tired of the emotional turmoil. Now, the feeling left was Acceptance.
What else was there to do. They cant just wish for things to be different and it’d happen, right?

Resolutions
Warning: Teens making a s##cide pact.
“I told you this would be a one way trip, fratello. I wasn’t just saying that to strengthen your resolve.” Ricotta said, comforting her crying brother.
“I just wish….” Gorgonzola tries to calm himself, not liking the crack in his voice,we had more time to say our goodbyes before we left.”
“It’s better that we didnt.” Ricotta explains, “As soon as we complete the last Damnation, the cycle of revenge will continue. With a massive trafficking empire crumbling, prominent people being exposed, and a trail of corpses in our wake, people will be out for blood. They would be willing to kill our loved ones to get to us.”
The boy winces, “Even the Zepellis?”
“Gangsters murder innocent people all the time just for knowing a person that pissed them off. Zola, you know we have too many family members to protect them all. Atleast 5 of them will be car bombed, kidnapped, or tortured just to get to us.”
“But…. If we die here. The cycle of revenge goes away.”
“Exactly When we murder the last man, we watch the sunset on top of a building. Then, put we’ll put our guns to each other’s temples and pull the trigger.”
“Right. And such a spectacle would be on the news that we’re dead. The media wouldn’t be able to sweep it under the rug.”
“It’s the only way to make sure our family’s safe.” Ricotta assures him, “We took this responsibility. Innocent people should never have to suffer for it.”
Zola wipes his tears away, “Can’t we atleast call Mom, ziti, and nonna?”
“Sure. Do you promise follow through with the plan when the day comes?”
“Of course. It’s like you said. We take on this mission and we need to make sure this bloodshed dies with us.”

Writing your First Chapter (Part 1)
There are tons of things that go into making a killer first chapter. Here are just a couple of things to consider.
Introducing your Protagonist and Making us Care
When writing your first chapter, you’ll be introducing your protagonist. When introducing your hero, here are some things to keep in mind:
1) We have to care about them (to want to follow them on their journey). This is typically done by giving your protagonist weaknesses and flaws or even quirks we can relate to. Your protagonist could be a grumpy, cold-hearted thief… but if they give half their findings to homeless children, our heartstrings are suddenly pulled on.
2) Don’t info-dump their backstory or appearance right away. Only give the reader what they need to know to understand the scene at hand. You especially don’t want to have your hero standing in front of a mirror describing themselves to the readers when you only have so many pages to hook a reader. You’ll have plenty of time to go into the details on your character later. This leads me to my next point…
3) Leave your readers wanting more. This is how you create page-turning chapters. If your protagonist has a mysterious limp… don’t reveal why right away. If their flaw is that they hate magic and refuse to use their birth gift… leave the reader guessing why. Little mysteries like that will keep readers subconsciously turning the page to figure out why. Just make sure you eventually give them the answer.
Foreshadow your Theme(s)
As early as you can, you’ll want to show readers what to expect in your book. Authors can do this by foreshadowing. Think of it as a “mini-scene” or description that gives the reader a taste of what’s to come.
This can be a as small as a sentence or as long as a paragraph or scene.
“I hadn’t been this dumb in years, hadn’t strayed this far from the Wall since… well since it fell. But I couldn’t help myself. I saw a squirrel runnin’… and catching one of those little critters would land me a handful of coin.”
Right away, the reader knows to expect themes of poverty and survival.
Ground your Readers, but don’t over do it.
Your first chapter is critical in catching your reader’s attention– so you don’t want to use up all your words on describing the setting. This is unwise, because, during this time, you need to be making us care about your hero and their actions.
Instead, show the reader only what they need to know to understand the scene. Too much description will slow down the story.
However, if your story has an unusual or unique setting, this can be used as a hook. Although, as a general rule of thumb, you’ll want to write only what is necessary and dive into those beautiful descriptions later.

Midnight Time Travel
Warning: A very small mention of the 'self-deleting' (s**cide).
Giona wakes up to the sound of her 12 magical anthropomorphic bunnies hopping around and celebrating. “Bangles?”
“WE DID IT, MAMA!” They yell. “We won! We found survived and got Nightwish!”
Giona’s foggy mind tries to make sense of their words. Nightwish…. The wish making stand?! Giona’s wish got granted?!
“Bangles? Where are we……and why are we in the air?!” “We’re going to New Orleans!” “Why are we going to France?” “NEW Orleans.” “Why are we going to America?!”
They gasp, “You forgot your wish?! You forgot about our 2nd chance?!” Giona thought about it for a second. She takes out her iPhone and looks at the time. 12:00am June 10th 2022.
“Time travel….Oh my god….. we can save everyone! Dad, mom, my uncle, Aunt Trish, Aunt Donna, Ricotta, Gorgonzola, frattello. They’re still alive!”
Giona’s stand appears. Then transforms its appearance into a familiar stand.
“Manic Monday, why are you Nightwish now?” Giona asks.
“Hello, Giovanna.” Said the stand.
Giona stares wide eyed. “That voice. Is this the user of Nightwish?”
“Yes. Thank you for freeing me from my prison. I know you wish to save Fugo’s family from their suicides, but please remember my main objective. Dark Pleasure’s Necromancy division needs to be stopped before they gain enough power to overthrow Passione.”
“Am I the only one who remembers what happened in January 2023? Where’s Gioia, Paolo, and Leona?”
“Gioia won’t remember, but Paolo and Leona should considering their own unique abilities.”
“Good.”
“All I can tell you is that you’re the first one to make it there.”
Those words were heavy on Giona’s soul. At 12 years old, she carries the burden of saving her friends from their tragic fates. “I want to take over Passione for papa, one day,” she reminds herself, “If I can’t do this, then I don’t deserve to be a Giovanna.”

New Beginning prompt
((WARNING: Implied child abuse and mention of child enslavement. Also, this is a rough draft!))
Alessandro wakes up. His eyes trying to register his surroundings. This couldn't be the afterlife. “What?" He mutters to himself as his eyes focuses on a smiling boy with brown hair and wide blue eyes. "Gorgonzola?”
“Hey Alé!” said Gorgonzola, petting Alessandro's hair.
Oh right. Alé. The first nickname Alessando even got that didn't make him sick to his stomach.
“Where are we, Zola?” Alé asks, using Gorgonzola's nickname.
“On a plane!” Zola replies, pointing to the empty plane seats around them and the windows showing the clouds and the land beneath them.
Alé blinks at the 12 year old. “That….leads to more questions.”
“Okay, so I barely remembered what happened after I saved you from falling from the roof-“
“How did I survive that?”
Zola gives Alé a proud grin, “MY STAND! It activated just in time to save you! I’ll show you it later. Anyways, sorella and I devised a plan! You’ve been a prisoner of Piacere Oscuro, correct?”
"Yes, for five years. They were training me to be an assassin, recently.”
“What a coincidence! My whole family’s been trying to get rid of that pedo group!”
“Oh……..”
Alé winces, remembering what he's done to Zola.
“I told you to stop that. I don’t blame you for what happened.”
“You should.”
Zola rolls his eyes, “ANYWAYS! Sis and I have come up with a dossier on over 100 of Piacere Oscuro’s most prominent members. We’re plotting to execute them in a plan we call ‘101 Damnations’. Pretty clever, right?!”
“Oh….a play on words referencing 101 Dalmations. Yes, quite clever.”
“Oh, he’s awake…..”
A third person joins them on this empty plane.
Alé looks at this new person. The blonde girl glares at him. He didn't need to see it in her purple eyes that she was furious with him. Gorgonzola's sister knew what he's done as well.
“Ricotta!" Zola yells at her, "Who the fuck is driving the plane?!”
“Rag-N-Bones, so shut up. Anyways, what information does he got?” She said, coldly.
Zola's blood was boiling, “Bitch, he just woke up. Let him recover. Synagogue only stops damage. It doesn’t stop pain receptors.”
Ricotta scoffs, "Oh! So you're just cuddling with your abuser-"
“DON’T. YOU. FUCKING. START.”
Alé could sense a fight coming. He gently kept pulled Zola back down to his seat and interject. “So…. About why I’m here…?”
The tension disspated and Ricotta's attention turns to Alessando, “Oh yes. You’re here to see if you recognize any of the kid fuckers we’re executing.” She gives Alé a packet with 101 pictures on them.
Alé braced himself while sifting through the papers and his painful memories, “………I recognize them. Some more than others. With Three Days Grace, I can tell you alot about their psychology as well.”
“So that means you’ll be helping us?" she asks.
Alessandro replies, “I want to…apologize for what I did. I know a simple sorry wouldn’t suffice, so I will dedicate my life to your cause.”
“We’re doing this for you too.” Gorgonzola insists.
“Correction," Ricotta interjects, "we’re doing this for the millions of children they abuse and kill."
