It seems the more time that goes by, the more we realize the correlation between social media and depression. This isn’t to say social media is bad, but god it makes me think about how we use it. Maybe we are all yelling in a crowded room about ourselves, but leaving out so much that could make us vulnerable. This song is about that feeling. I truly believe we can and will do better.

‘I used to dream that you would talk to me”
I like poetry; but more-so, I love people who can add meaning to words with their voice. Dermot is one of those talented people.

It’s become a habit for me. At the beginning of a new school year, I draw the view from my window. My way of trying to make sense of new surroundings, trying to memorialize it, make it more real and important. Put it into perspective.

Growing up means losing your wide eyed perspective. The promising thing is you can regain the ability to see the world like that. It’s a never ending path of learning about and accepting yourself. Only when you get past the stage of wanting to be someone else can you truly learn to be you.

concept: me, 10 years from now, living in a pretty house with my love, sipping a hot cappuccino on a rainy autumn afternoon. our dog curls up next to me in the window bench while our cat snoozes on the bed. i’m financially stable and i’m never tired anymore. the bees are safe.

This morning at breakfast @_goinghome and I were discussing how inspiring we find @tifforelie and her boyfriend @kappeljamescloninger. Never in a million years did we think that a few hours later we’d learn that Kappel would pass away. I’ve known him for years and have always so admired his work ethic, his drive, his creativity, and him as an amazing and authentic person. He had the most beautiful blue eyes and beautiful love for Tiffany. All of our thoughts and prayers and positive vibes go out to Tiffany and, @ruthielindsey, and @4thebirds, and the entire community of creatives and friends in Nashville. Tiffany shot this image at @manreadymerc the day before I last saw Kappel. No matter what you believe or don’t believe in take a moment and send up some positive thoughts for our girl Tiffany. 💗

Oh my God, what if you wake up some day, and you’re 65, or 75, and you never got your memoir or novel written; or you didn’t go swimming in warm pools and oceans all those years because your thighs were jiggly and you had a nice big comfortable tummy; or you were just so strung out on perfectionism and people-pleasing that you forgot to have a big juicy creative life, of imagination and radical silliness and staring off into space like when you were a kid? It’s going to break your heart. Don’t let this happen.
