August Spread

I’m really looking forward to the last month of true summer! I fly to London on August 31 and begin my study abroad program so there is a lot to prepare for but also a lot to enjoy until then. Anticipation is part of the journey! Here’s to fresh strawberries, Hong Kong style boba, warm nights, binge watching Star Wars, and finishing the books that have been waiting for me to come back to them all year long. 🍓

it has been a pretty decent week! highlights:

i’ve gotten up to speed on some of the back-end tasks of my research work.

finished both assignments for my engineering courses.

started more rigorously studying for the qualifying exam.

started outlining my conference paper.

made edits to my grant proposal.

yoga (2x) and lunch with friends (2x). 

still have some stuff i want to take care of today, too:

research meeting.

send some emails.

finish some programming homework with a classmate.

went back to the writing space and wrote 10 pages, only 3 of which will make it past “editing me”, listened to fine line the whole time and drank far, far too many cups of coffee.

Productive sunday morning! Finally reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt, loving it so far. Also reviewed some basic French and I’m currently doing some research for a topic about the collusion between the State and organized crime and how it fuels the smuggling and trafficking of migrants in Mexico.

I’ve been binging older episodes of supermegacast while attempting to write up the results section of my thesis. My presentation is in exactly one month, so I’m kinda blah rn.

In other news, I got this desk a week ago and finished this current set up last night, and I’m pleased with how everything’s come out!! I even have a side table next to it where my blanket hangs out when it gets too cold while working.
