Witches Abroad Dream Cast
This isn’t gonna be an ✨aesthetic✨ casting post because I don’t have time for that. And because I’m going with (currently) living actors, we’re gonna just have to live with the tragic fact that Maggie Smith will never get to play Granny Weatherwax. Aight? Aight.
Obviously Miriam Margoyles as Nanny Ogg
Angelica Houston as Lilly/Lady Lilith
Cynthia Erivo as Erzulie Golgol
Doug Jones as Baron Saturday
Zendaya as Emberella
Adam Driver as The Duc
Dame Judy Dench as Desiderata Hollow
Jason Mamoa as Human Greebo
Millie Bobby Brown as Magrat Garlick
And Tilda Swinton as Granny Weatherwax
That’s the best I can come up with as far as well known and living actors and actresses. Thoughts?

Granny put the fluence on Magrat in Witches Abroad to give her confidence to play the Cinderella role. It worked until the clock (sort of) struck midnight. And then she goes back into a wet hen.

you guys are so annoying. why do i have to see discourse every year that's like "was tolkien really a woke king or was he your conservative uncle?" the guy was a devout catholic and a genteel misogynist who maintained lifelong friendships with queer people and women, and this isn't even paradoxical because that was part of the upper-class oxford culture he was immersed in. tolkien told the nazis to fuck off (and in doing so demonstrated a real understanding of what racism is and why it's harmful, beyond simply "these guys are bad news because they're who my country is at war with right now") but his inner life was marked by internalized racism that is deeply and inextricably woven into the art that he made. he foolishly described himself as an anarcho-monarchist, and it's kind of crazy to see people on this website passionately arguing that he likely never meaningfully engaged with anarchist theory, because...yeah, no shit, of course he didn't. tolkien didn't have to engage with most sociopolitical theory because as an upper-class englishman of his position, he was never affected by any of the issues that this theory is concerned with. what is plainly obvious from reading both his fiction and letters is that tolkien's ideal political system was that the divinely ordained god-king would rise up and rule in perfect justice and humility; he didn't want a government, he wanted a king arthur, even though (obviously) he was aware that outcome was impossible. why is it so hard for people to accept that he was just some guy! his letters aren't a code you have to crack. no amount of arguing or tumblr-level analysis is going to one day reveal a rhetorically airtight internally consistent worldview spanning jrrt's fiction, academic work, and personal writings, thereby "solving" the question of whether he was a woke king or your conservative uncle. his ideology was extremely inconsistent because, at the end of the day, he was just some guy.

does anyone have that quote that goes something like 'white germans under the nazis lived just fine as long as they were loyal to the state, gave their children to the army, and paid their taxes, and in this sense many americans would be comfortable living under fascism' trying to find who said it but google is giving me jack shit

@lena-nillkimcfv Babygirl, why don’t you message me directly? My inbox and asks are open.
Let me guess what the commission is… You want me to draw your pet, your best friend, your partner, or a portrait of you and you’re going to offer me a lot more than I usually charge for commissions. But the ONLY way you can pay me is if I send you half of the money through PayPal and once that goes through, you (or a wealthy relative) will pay me back what I sent you and the agreed on commission price.
Does that sound about right?
I may be off the mark, but seeing as I get this exact message or a variant of it from other mostly blank profiles EVERY time I post art, I really doubt it. And I’m ashamed to say I fell for this exact scam early last year because I was desperate for money and their offer initially seemed legit. They got $200 off of me that left me with $20 to my name. Thankfully I got some legit commissions and my fiancé and I weren’t evicted from our home.
A warning to artists who do commissions: The client has to pay YOU, no matter the circumstances. If they can’t pay a down payment or the full amount when you both agreed the payment would be processed or have the audacity to ask YOU for money for you to draw them something, BIG RED FLAG.
If you get one of these portrait commissions, reverse-Google search the photo they send. It may lead you to a Facebook or Instagram with similar profiles, but there may also be more than one profile with that photo. Scroll through those profiles and the profile of the person who puts this kind of note on your work. If it looks like it was just made less than a week ago and has generic shit shared or reblogged, you *might* have a scammer. You might not. But if it feels scammy, it’s probably scammy. Which, looking at this person’s profile, it feels scammy.
Anyway, yes I’m open for commissions. But not for people who think I was born yesterday. If you’d like one, message me directly! I would love to draw your OC or DnD character or fanart of your favorite character, or even a cartoon version of you and your partner or pet. But, unless I’m commissioning you, I will never send you money.

I drew this before the movie came out, it’s not based on any actress who played Elphie. Just a sketch based on the play’s design of her act 1 costume.

The wind began to switch, the house, to pitch!
An old ink and marker sketch of Dorothy and Toto that I still really like. Though if I were to do it again, I’d probably leave out the Ruby Slippers and put in the silhouette of Ms Gultch or the Witch on her broom.

Esmerelda Weatherwax is literature's greatest Witch. And it is not even a little close.
What other Witch could so shrewdly bend the very story she was in to her will? To take the tropes and clichés and to weaponize them against those who were wrong in defense of those who could not defend themselves?
What other Witch, when faced with the Good Fairy Godmother, would rip the story from her very fingers and set things to right?
What other Witch, under vampiric assault, could turn the famous bite around and, instead of becoming a vampire herself, through force of sheer will Weatherwax the vampire? What does that even mean?
What other Witch could give a child a gift so powerful it would override narrative convention and let the long lost prince refuse to take his rightful crown in favor of pursuing his dreams?
Indeed, what other Witch would resist the crown when it fell into her lap?
There have been untold millions of Witches in literature, but not a one of them could sit demurely at a social gathering, doing absolutely nothing, and drive everyone around her to near insanity through sheer nervousness?
No one else could be so proficient at both Magic and People that she would barely need or want to use the former because of how effective and predictable the latter could be.
And all of this, ALL of this, while going against her own narrative nature as 'The Bad Witch'. To resist your own role in the story so completely that you transcend expectations and settle into legend as one of the ultimate forces of righteousness on the Disc? That requires more power, more cunning, and more skill than any, every other Witch. Combined.
And she did it by knowing people. By watching them and knowing things and by understanding, better than their own mothers, how to talk to everyone and precisely pass along knowledge. How to command respect, even if they don't like you very much. How to be indispensable, while dispensing with the pleasantries.
She didn't do it alone, but she wouldn't admit that within earshot of Gytha or any of her numerous brood (So, she would never admit it). She benefitted by her associations with Nanny Ogg, with Magrat, with Agnes, with Tiffany, with Ridcully (allegedly), and even with Death.
Who else would earn time for her candle to flicker in the wind, and a warning by the Grim Reaper himself, for the right she had done in the world.
Right. Not good. Not nice. Right.
She was the vessel Pratchett poured his every indignant thought at the inherent injustice in the world into, and she brandished those white hot notions against every part of the stories that tried to make her into something she did not want to be.
Esmerelda Weatherwax is literature's greatest Witch. What more could possibly be said?
