Teddy Bear
Whisper softly in my ear, A secret Iâve been wanting to hear. I am the one that you can trust, So slow down and do not rush. You know that I am the one who always listens, You know I am not like those heathens. Thereâs a reason youâve trusted me all your life, From when you were a child âtill you met your wife. Whisper it to me now, They wonât find out anyhow. Finally you pull me close⊠And set me by the plastic rose? I should have know that this day would come, But who would have known that Iâd so numb? I never thought that I would soon, Be lonelier that a crescent moon. I always did believe, Your inner child will never leave. I guess this just goes to show, How much I know, Of flowers, the sun, leaves, and snow.

Parting
I canât hate you nor love you, For this too has been on my mind. What once was bright has died, Itâs time to face a world undefined.
We werenât a mistake, We just werenât right. Letâs both walk away, Thereâs no need for a fight.
Letâs settle for a smile and a nod As we pass one another. No more than that for we know Our hearts needs to be further.
Time will heal our wounds, For I know youâre hurting too. From a long distance, We will pull each other through.
Ignore my dripping tears And wipe away your own. With a final touch we part, And re-alight what once shone.

WIP - Rosemary (working title)
His gaze fell to his hands, fingers absentmindedly tracing the lines of his palm. ââRemembranceâ though,â he continued before I built the courage to respond, âitâs a funny name, isnât it?â
The question wasnât directed at me.
âWhen people hear that, they say itâs a nice name.â
I donât understand him.
âThey say having the name like that means Iâm suppose to always be remembered.â He looked at me, âYou know what Gabe said?â he smiled, the first real smile I saw from him. âShe said, âThat must be burdensome.ââ He chuckled as his hand went to rub the back to his neck â a nervous tick â Â and he shifted his eyes away from me.

Straw to Gold
Crying brought me to this room, Filled with straw, a wheel, a broom. On the straw sat a lady fair, Face covered with tears and hair.
âAh! Spin straw into gold I see! For a price, leave it all to me.â Slowly the straw disappeared, As gold slowly appeared.
There was a clink and I was done, With her ring I was gone. At night I once again heard, Her crying is simply absurd!
In a bigger room I did come, Poor lady never knowing where Iâm from. With earrings in my pocket I did spin, Left before the King walked in.
Third I came and saw what could be mine, Tâwas a dark, delicate, dashing dress so fine. Going to marry your imprisoner, what a prize, The one who placed you with the mice.
Yet perfect jewels not hers to give, Iâm not one filled with greed. Instead first-born baby I demand, Made the deal and shook her hand.

A Cry
Behind my smiles and confident face, Lies a struggling soul waiting to be noticed.
Listen closely to the laughter that is music to your ears, And you will hear the echoing screams of agony.
Step back and look at me for who I am; Notice my lame desperation to please you.
Stop painting over my colors with your own, For with each layer I become lost.
Just this once notice me for who I am, Before I completely lose all that I am.

By the Sea
The moon reminds him of what the sun once told him, Standing by the sea, knowing itâs listening. He stares at the moon, thinking of his doom.
Dusk came to guide him away, Yet he stands by the sea, never moving. Try as they may, he never moves out of the way, The sun rose to greet him with a knowing.
Then sun once warned him of what would happen, A warning never heard by him, Crash! The sea opens its mouth, taking the man off his route.
