I like to think that because Snape rarely shows skin aside from his hands and face, that to everyone else every little sliver of Bare Sneep™ seems outrageously scandalous and lewd. Severus Snape has no idea whatsoever that the tiniest slip of his sleeve to expose the tiniest bit of his wrist gets the entire wizarding population scandalized and flustered, like a bunch of Victorian fools seeing a woman's ankle for the first time.

voldemort grew up in the muggle world but spends most of his time with the kind of purebloods who pride themselves on knowing nothing about muggles. that probably means he is secretly wincing anytime a muggle thing comes up and they get it wildly wrong.

Non-Snape ask: Any favorite Malfoy family theories?
Lucius wanted a large family.
Narcissa wanted a large family.
They struggled to conceive, or to carry to term.
“Why us?” sobbed Narcissa, and Lucius had no answers.
Least, none he wanted to give.
They both knew, deep down, that hundreds of years of intermarriage between the pureblood families meant that pureblood children were becoming increasingly scarce.
When Draco was born, he was cherished and adored.
They didn’t stop trying.
But he remained an only child.
Lucius has never hated a family more than the Weasleys.
Pureblood Arthur Weasley and pureblood Molly Prewett.
Yet they had seven children.
Seven.
Far more than they could afford.
“How can it be fair that Draco grows up alone,” Lucius mused, watching sadly as his tiny blond boy became increasingly frustrated whilst playing with his mute imaginary friend, “when we have so much to give?”

Ilvermorny House Colors
Thunderbird, adventurers - Purple; accented silver
Purple or violet assists those who seek the meaning of life and spiritual fulfillment - it expands our awareness, connecting us to a higher consciousness. For this reason it is associated with transformation of the soul and the philosophers of the world. Silver is related to the moon and the ebb and flow of the tides - it is fluid, emotional, sensitive and mysterious. It is soothing, calming, peaceful, earthy and purifying.
Pukwudgie, healers - Green; accented white
Green is the color of balance and harmony. From a color psychology perspective, it is the great balancer of the heart and the emotions, creating equilibrium between the head and the heart, the sanctuary away from the stresses of modern living, restoring us back to a sense of well being. White is a color of protection and encouragement, offering a sense of peace and calm, comfort and hope, helping alleviate emotional upsets.
Wampus, warriors - Orange; accented black
Orange relates to ‘gut reaction’ or our gut instincts, Orange offers emotional strength in difficult times. It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief. It’s a thirst for action and success. Black implies self-control and discipline, independence and a strong will, and giving an impression of authority and power.
Horned Serpent, scholars - Turquoise; accented gold
Turquoise, considered beneficial to the mind, is the color to aid concentration and clarity of thought for public speakers as it calms the nervous system, gives control over speech and expression, and builds confidence. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Gold is a color which is associated with higher ideals, wisdom, understanding and enlightenment. It inspires knowledge, spirituality and a deep understanding of the self.

So how do school transfers go? Not all schools have the same curriculum so do they decide their classes before the switch? Do they get assigned a new House with the first years or privately?
School transfers are generally very rare, but they do happen! Essentially, schools are preparing students for the LAMP and SALEM tests — standardized tests that allow the Department of Magical Education to ensure that basic magical knowledge is known across the country. These tests are only given for some of the "core" subjects — Charms and Magical Theory, Transfiguration, Potions, Astronomy, Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and History.
(I may not agree with it, but that's how it works. Just be glad the tests are given for each individual subject, so that at least those who score low in Transfiguration can still get an "Exemplary" in Charms.)
There's an interscholastic board that meets with members of the DME to discuss the best curriculums to make sure students can be successful in the standardized tests. Ultimately, it's up to the school and the individual teachers to determine what is best.
So with that explanation, basically, all "core" classes will be generally the same across all schools, but other electives probably won't be. You may just have to hope that whatever school you transfer to has the class you want.
However, all of the officially-recognized schools are boarding schools, so you would rarely need to transfer anyway, especially after your second or third year.
When that does happen, though, the transfer student will be Sorted with the first-year students.

what's the difference between witches, wizards, and warlocks? i've tried looking it up, but all it only says that wizards and warlocks are male witches, which i disagree with, as i believe the magic style, vibe, and aesthetics are different, and i'm curious what your opinion is?
The real answer is that all of these words are basically synonyms, with different connotations due to various root words with various historical contexts. (“Warlock” for example being rooted in a late Middle Ages Scots term for magical practitioners suspected to be in league with the devil—from Old English wær, literally “covenant,” and leoga, literally “liar.” Essentially, those who broke their “covenant” with God and dealt in dark magic.)
But words change context based on our understanding of them, which is why in modern times you may have heard that warlocks are those who gain their power from a contract with some ethereal arcane force—a version popularized by D&D. In truth, the connotative differences between these words in most people’s minds are so slight, and they’ve been used interchangeably so much, that you can pretty much just reinvent their meaning for any given piece of fiction you use them in.
There has been a recent effort to needlessly gender these words, to be sure. We can think J. K. Rowling for that. It’s remarkably unfortunate that such an uncreative—and, to be frank—noxious person occupies such a place of power in modern fantasy.
My personal headcanon for these words is this: witches tend to work magic with the natural order, wizards work against it, and warlocks are magical practitioners that deal with arcane contracts. (I actually rather like the D&D version, especially how it relates to the word’s etymology.)
Of course, you can use these terms however you like—which is a great thing, because fantasy is a genre with limitless potential!
