Help us pay for a funeral - my husband is dying of cancer

TLDR; my husband is dying of lung cancer that has spread to the brain. We need to raise $30,000 for a funeral, burial, headstone and flowers. We have no coverage whatsoever. Please help in any way you can by sharing this post, praying, or donating money.

Hi all, it’s Darcy’s wife here. My name is Michelle and I am writing this at the worst time in my life. My husband Darcy has been given the worst prognosis: he is dying quickly of lung cancer that has spread to the brain.

In March 2018, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was then fired by his boss at the time and given no benefits. Almost immediately after that, he started chemo and radiation therapy. Everything was going great and he was responding to treatment. His oncologist recommended immunotherapy, a new treatment in Canada.

Everything went downhill after that. His liver levels skyrocketed to the point that, if they continued, he would die from liver failure. All treatment was revoked. Next, the oncologist made an appointment with the surgeon to see if the tumour was small enough to remove. The surgeon ordered an MRI of the brain to see if the cancer had spread. Unfortunately, they found over 50 small lesions on the brain to date.

He then underwent full brain radiation therapy to control the spread of the disease. The focus of treatment changed from finding a cure to preventing spread of the disease. He was then referred to end of life care and all treatment has been stopped. Darcy has been asked to prepare a living will and plan for end of life arrangements by his palliative care doctor. I, his wife, have been appointed by Darcy to take care of any medical decisions.

As far as insurance and coverage, Darcy has none. Filling out forms for disability has been too hard because he forgets most of the information asked of him. We have had to cancel the appointment with the social worker because he sleeps nearly 20 hours a day. Darcy has absolutely no income. Whatever I make goes to rent, our cable/phone bill, hydro, appointments, and any medications that are not covered.
