genuinely have had numerous people tell me that as a trans man i'm "a men's rights activist invading trans spaces".

so many people legitimately do not see trans men as trans.

i need people to understand that so many people for some reason have the idea that trans = feminine or woman. it's a real issue.

how are trans men invading trans spaces? this is where we live. and of course we're gonna advocate for our own rights. why wouldn't we? we don't exist to self flagellate because the idea of transsexual and transgender manhood and masculinity frightens you. i'm a trans man. i'm trans. i'm not invading my own community.

I cannot express how jarring it was after being raised by a "Porn Addiction Coach" to get into a relationship with a woman and come face to face with the fact that she did actually want me to sexually desire her.

Like, in Evangelical Purity Culture, male desire was basically poison. It was a threat. It was this constant temptation that would destroy everything. And even after leaving, in the sort of queer, feminist spaces i spend most of my time in that wasn't something that pretty much anyone was spending time actively dissuading me from feeling.

But my desire is good. It's not something that I'm being accepted in spite of. It's a positive thing. It's a bonus. Not even just vanilla stuff, all the stuff I'd convinced myself were these weird terrible desires that were shameful to have.

It honestly took me over a decade to fully accept that. To stop dissociating during sex and confront that I was, in fact, being a massive perv and that was fantastic and preferable and that I could accept that into my self-image without shame or self hatred.

But it's important to do. It's important to leave relationships that don't welcome that part of you. To know that your sexuality is valuable and valid and worth owning and celebrating. Because the alternative is just...not being. Either existing as yourself and repressing the part of your identity that is sexual or allowing that sexuality to exist but turning off your self while it does.

I can't help but remember lately all the history lesson I had in secondary school in yr 9 where my history teacher made such a big point in having us look at historical propaganda for the wars and analyse it and how it worked

Also the lesson in which he explained what the musical caberet about and its influences from life at the time and what it means (I was too focused on the wacky gender themes of it at the time but now looking back I think he was trying to show how art is affected by history)

I didn't go on to pick history to do at gcse but I'll always remember those lessons cos I reckon they were more important than anything I learned in other lessons

awareness of "the abused can become the abuser" is useless without the knowledge that abuse is a choice anyone makes that is made for self-benefit. recently I watched an interview on the psychology of domestic abuse and the woman who interviewed those who inflicted the abuse always made sure to ask "why didn't you take it further?" because the answer would always show the abuser hadn't simply lost control. for example one man said he pushed over his girlfriend but didn't kick her once she was down because he didn't want any noticeable bruising that caused suspicion. human psychology is much less poetic than you think. too many psychology enjoyers only enjoy the poetic

the worst part of having a doctor tell you to "reduce stress" is that it is legitimately impossible for the vast majority of people. quitting your stressful job will result in stressful homelessness, stressful starvation, and stressful poverty. cutting of stressful family and friends will result in stressful loneliness, stressful drama, and stressful accusations. logging off the stressful social media will also result in stressful loneliness, being stressfully out of the loop, and stressful boredom. ignoring stressful politics will result in stressful lack of preparation for stressful curtailing of your personal liberties and stressful cuts to every public service you use. it's impossible to not be stressed unless you're literally some kind of richtok nepo baby, and even those weirdos have the "stress" of managing their servants and deciding which olympic sized swimming pool on their stressfully massive property is better for hosting their stressful sweet sixteens.

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people.
