Yea Shen Qingqius meals are made by Binghe, he bathes him brushes his teeth (no that’s not weird YOURE the weird one), and picks out his outfits and spends every waking and sleeping moment with him it’s just normal marriage things

Yes Luo Binghe needs to be cuddling or be cuddled by shizun to fall asleep and have his hair tenderly brushed and only eats when Shen Qingqiu personally feeds it to him MIND YOUR BUISNESS

I know people tend to write off binghe as the only one whose weird but they’re equally insane if this were the modern world they’d be deleting other peoples numbers and blocking hot girls on Insta on the others phone when they weren’t looking and wearing matching couple outfits

the BEST dynamic between any two mdzs characters that are not immediately related is like. being extremely judgy about how the other one treats their sibling. the sheer Contempt they have for each other for how they handled family dramas, it's beautiful. and painful. there is so much.

like, nhs? nhs, planning his great revenge, looks at jiang cheng and cannot fucking believe jiang cheng had the audacity to 'disown' and 'kill' (nhs does not have all the details) his own brother. looks at lan xichen who let his didi get whipped and, being a spoiled youngest child himself, has no inhibitions about hurting lxc for his own goals.

lxc? watching jc let wei wuxian descend into alcoholism and demonic cultivation? watching nhs ruin his own morals to get revenge, betraying every ideal nie mingjue stood for? he keeps quiet because he is lan xichen, hes got that oldest daughter syndrome, but oh, he does have opinions.

jc, the youngest kid, feeling the pressure of being the sect heir since forever, becomes the sect leader as a fucking teenager and watches the nies - watches nie huaisang being absolutely NOT prepared to take over. thinks about how nie mingjue knew he had no other heirs and still spoiled little sangsang, allowed him to become the headshaker. jc post-canon, always having been judged by lwj for letting wwx isolate himself - now watches lwj let xichen go into seclusion. ironic.

wen ning? forever bitchy about jc letting wei wuxian down during the burial mounds era.

lwj? obvious issues with jiang cheng.

nmj considers wei wuxian a traitor both to yunmeng jiang and to jiang cheng.

everyone except for maybe lwj thinks wen qing a monster for allowing her brother to become the ghost general.

and so on, and so forth.

even better, it's not like they think that themselves they were 100% Right. they are also bitter about their own actions, they also regret many things. nhs couldn't ever face his brother again after what he did for him. wei wuxian hopes the secret about the golden core is never revealed. wen ning wishes his sister hadn't led them to jinlintai. lwj stares at the quiet hanshi, the lonely shadow inside it.

there are no correct answers! there are no good solutions! there is just a bunch of adult people who made choices and watched others make choices and are extremely bitchy about those choices.

Mu Qing gets cursed on a mission to be incorporeal

This is more a personal observation, but I think that for Xie Lian as a character his relationship with Hua Cheng is more a tale of regression.

Bear with me, this isn't something bad.

Most of the 'growing' that Xie Lian had from his ascension onwards was under very negative circumstances.

He learnt that he wasn't invencible, that he had his limits.

He learnt that there wasn't a thing as something positive that it's eternal, so he better enjoy the banquet while he has it.

He made himself develop a thick face.

He got so used to misery that it's no longer and act of endurance, but something so natural that he recounts sad anecdotes as something that can make others laugh.

He became so incredibly independent that loneliness was no longer an issue.

But then Hua Cheng comes to his life and he convinces him that he's strong, that nothing can stop him again; he makes him believe that what they have is pretty much eternal and that he's not going anywhere, like the fairy tales, together until the very end. His so well cultivated thick face is nothing in Hua Cheng's presence and he's easily flustered now lol and yes, he became aware that there was something wrong with him casually retelling his tragedies and learned how to take care of his wellbeing and of course, loneliness is an issue again, a big one at that.

Post canon he's obviously not the same prince of 800 years ago but many things in his former mindset came back, or more like Hua Cheng removed the dust from them and put them in a place where Xie Lian could see them again and remember how important they were.

And while yes, you can make a case and say that Xie Lian's development isn't so negative and that it made him strong, I think that it was only suitable under survival mode, it made him hold during those 800 years but it didn't do any favors to his mental health.

At the end that wasn't him, and while Hua Cheng's influence is a "return to the origins kind of thing" I believe it's something really good for Xie Lian. Xie Lian's character regressed in a way, but it really was for the best.
