the-bringer-of-chaos:
Maalik’s nails only dug further into his palms, going completely unnoticed as he waited for the answer.
And what an answer he had gotten.
A statement that explained absolutely nothing and a threat.
Still, Maalik subconsciously unclenched his fists as his eyes narrowed at his reflection. He could feel the sting of anger in his other personality’s voice. He could nearly taste the venom in the words. Well, at least the anger and hatred seemed mutual.
“You should have stayed gone,” he hissed spitefully.
Even with the release of the nails, Yamima couldn’t help the bile taste of anger, and practically threw himself against the gauze of the nerves. Scratching, and clawing, he tracked Maalik’s spite. Practically swallowed it like a starving animal setting itself on roadkill.
“Should have?” Yamima snorted, “What are you gonna do to me?” He retreated from the gap between them, voice growing quieter as he did so, but tone reaching a fevered, resentful screech, “Throw me to the shadows? Skin me? Steal my body?”
He stamped his foot, trying to cause a quake to ripple through Maalik’s ankle, “What are you gonna do? Kill me? Put a knife to your eyesocket and swish it in the brainpan- try and dig me out with your hands? You gonna do something for yourself for once?”

“I don’t care for you, or your personal infatuation towards me.” Bakura stated nonchalantly, arms folded. He had a strong urge to roll his eyes, but resisted for the time being.
“If I do so recall, you owe me a favour.”
“Infatuation, right, right,” Yamima didn’t bother disagreeing. Instead, the amusement, and anger on his face evaporated to dull, hollowed disinterest, Yamima withdrew his finger, licking it absently, “I owe a lot of people a lot of favours,” His eyes narrowed, “Why are you telling me about it? Seems inconvenient to me.”

The response that his other personality gave him confirmed to Maalik that he wasn’t just imagining things. The bastard actually replied back. Fuck. He grit his teeth and felt his fingers gradually curl up against his palms. Fuck!
He barely registered the next question, too distracted by his own panic. What was he going to tell Isis and Rishid? Was he going to tell them?
Maalik paused in his thoughts only when he felt a distinctive tug in his right arm. He glanced down at his arm, noticing slight twitches that weren’t from his own movements. If this asshole was back, how come he hadn’t come to completely take over his body yet? What was his other personality waiting for?
“How are you back?” he demanded in a low growl. He leveled a glare at the mirror. His questions felt far more important to ask than an unfinished application with his kohl.
Yamima could feel the jaw lock, and the edge of the nails pressing into the palm of their hand. He could also hear Maalik’s question, but it seemed very secondary. How was he to know? The scalpel approach of a penalty game was ineffective; how was that his business? How would he know?
“Isn’t it obvious?” He snapped, “Stop with the nails, before I rip our teeth out one by one!”
It was an almost empty threat - something you could have tipped back and forth, and heard the dull slosh of sincerity, but also something Yamima wasn’t keen to, or even able to do. Snarling, he scraped at the nerves again, “So good to see you again, Main Personality,” He added poisonously, “I owe you a favour or two, so how could I stay gone?”

“Never you mind who I am.” He dismissed, as he scribbled a quick note about the other in a small notebook before looking back to him. “You look ridiculous.” Because he’s clearly one to talk.
“I mind,” Yamima spat, trying to circle round to get a good look at the notebook, “What is that? What are you scribbling?” He craned his neck, before stopping to stare Horus.
After a moment, he shrugged, “I’ve seen mirrors, and I look fine.”

“I dunno, have you ever seen a midget? They look like gnomes.” Cy snickered slightly, finding Yamima’s distaste mostly amusing. Not everyone liked games, but he did and that was all he really gave a damn about.
“And it depends on your idea of fun. Some people like PVP, some like levelling, some like skilling, some like raiding…” He waved a hand. “I like PVP, because I get to kill other players and take their points.”
“If I kill 100 gnome players I get the title Gnome Slayer, and I’m on 99.” He was talking and playing, managing to split his attention between the game and the other equally. His character was a tiny elf girl.
“No, never seen one,” Yamima answered, before taking a closer look at whatever the hell a gnome was - and by extension, whatever the hell a midget was. Frankly, looking at it, he had a feeling Cy was messing with him, “You’re making that up,” He accused, “Nothing looks like that.”
He leaned even closer, reaching out to scratch the pad of his finger on the screen, “You definitely don’t look like that,” He remarked, and settled back, “What’s PWP-” He stopped, “PVP,” Throwing a hand in the air, he scoffed, “Now you’re just inventing letters to fuck with me.”
Folding his arms over his chest, Yamima snorted, “What kind of fun is it, if you’re imagining it.”

hostofthering:
Ryou’s brows raised. A spark of interest in his green eyes. So after all, the Spirit did suck at card games? The thought made his lips twitch in a small smile. His hands spliced behind his back. “Shadows, eh? You could do that more often-” He chuckled, however the sound died in his throat quickly. “He will go back at the end though. He always does- Somehow-” It was a silent mumble which Ryou kind of hoped would be not heard by the other.
His expression dimmed, and hands eventually fell to the sides. “Right. You’re right. I need to try harder next time.” Teenager let his eyes slide away. Brows twitching in a furrow. He caught himself tensing up. But there was no point in thinking so intensively about the Spirit now. And he let it go with a slow sigh; a rub at his eyes.
“The other ones don’t matter then.” He decided. Perhaps decision way too slow. “What are you like? You seem to like this game- The Duel Monsters game-”
“I could,” Yamima gave a loose, prideful grin, and it snapped into an irritated stare at Ryou’s half-mumbled follow up, “There’s no way he can do that - not after what I did to him - not even a ghost stands a chance,” Abruptly, Yamima was less sure; was the Other Bakura still a problem on the horizon? Just as abruptly, Yamima’s face cleared; if the Other Bakura showed his face again, Yamima could dispatch him as easily as the first time. There was nothing to worry about.
Once again, at ease, Yamima nodded at Ryou, “No, the other ones don’t matter at all,” However, Ryou’s next remark froze him, “Me?” Yamima asked stiffly, nose crinkling, “No idea,” He shrugged, the movement sticking in the wrong places, “I’m good at Duel Monsters,” It wasn’t what Ryou had asked him, and Yamima’s expression fogged over again.
Confused, and angry about it, Yamima glared at Ryou, “I’m good for plenty of things; what are you even good for?”

the-bringer-of-chaos:
Maalik was in the middle of applying his kohl when he saw a flicker of something in the mirror that shouldn’t have been there. There was a smugness in his eyes that his own emotions didn’t reflect. It was jarring to say the least. He could feel the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.
He lowered the kohl stick from his right eye and leaned in closer towards the mirror to get a better look. Just as quickly as the expression had changed, it vanished. It made him question if he had just imagined it.
It couldn’t have been…
And then he heard the voice scratching at the back of his mind.
You’re welcome.
They were rogue words that he knew for certain weren’t his own. The applicator in his hand dropped into the sink as his eyes flew wide open.
“…Y-you…” He took an impulsive, large step away from the mirror as if the mirror was to blame. “…What the hell are you doing back?” His voice was on the verge of shaking. Maybe it was still another one of his hallucinations? He hoped to the gods that it was the case.
Yamima had been trying to worm his way in through the nerves - shred them until Maalik’s hand shook. There had been an almost translucent urge to leave the kohl mark in a clumsy slash down Maalik’s face. Instead, Yamima had barely itched at Maalik’s thoughts, barely twitched in the reflection--
Studying Maalik’s change of emotion, as though trapped behind a vast plane of glass, Yamima yawned - the gesture ticked in Maalik’s jaw, more tempting than an actual movement - “Fine welcome,” He drawled, before snapping into an irritated silence.
He could ignore Maalik. Maalik would deserve it.
“Aren’t you going to finish that?” Yamima tried to jerk Maalik’s arm forward, outright yanking at the body - again there was the slippery feeling of it passing through his fingers, “Let me finish,” He pulled harder, snarling under his breath, “Promise not to poke our eye out.”
