Tinhat Theories

Pet Names/Honorifics/Endearments Theories

Age hierarchy in Korea (using honorifics to address people who are older than you), is a big deal. It is considered rude to not address those older than you respectfully. The casual way Jungkook calls to Jimin, (dropping “hyung”, calling him “Jimin-ah” or “Jiminie”, and even his exaggerated use of the overly formal “Jimin-ssi” which he does in a very flirty/teasing way), brings attention to the way their relationship is different from the other members. As the youngest, Jungkook should speak to his members respectfully and use honorifics. He almost always uses honorifics on his other hyungs, but somehow, Jimin is different. Here he is in Bon Voyage 2 (filmed in April 2017) calling Jimin “baby” as an example.

Video explaining the significance of Dangshin and Jungkook’s use of it. He’s used it two or three times that we’ve seen on film. This video also shows why Jikookers believe Dangshin is being used in a way that means “dear/darling”, usually reserved for one’s spouse by highlighting how Jimin seems to be the only member that is consistently with Jungkook when he’s hurt/injured. Jimin also gets his shots in with the cutsie names. Here, I think the members were asked to choose their favorite pet. Jimin said he would choose Jungkook because he was strong and could protect Jimin and then said he was his “reliable banryeo”. A cute play on words because it can mean pet, but it can also mean partner/life companion in the sense of a significant other.

We decided to place these instances of dropping honorifics and using cute names with one another in the tinhat section because, while no one can deny that they’ve said these things to each other, the meaning behind the words can be interpreted differently. Maybe Jungkook didn’t mean “Baby” like that. Maybe he was just being overly formal with Dangshin because they are broadcasting to a general audience. Maybe Jimin really did mean Jungkook is his favorite pet. Who knows! But the multiple instances sure do make for an interesting pattern.

Vlive Theories

Taehyung’s Vlive 07.12.2016

The Jikook theories start at 6:15. Tae goes to Jungkook’s room. Jungkook makes him wait outside, claiming he’s not dressed. He finally lets Tae in after 45 seconds. He’s in a robe that he hasn’t even tied yet. Body Electric by Lana Del Rey is streaming in the room.

Tae says he’s there to show ARMY him and Jungkook on Vlive. They mess around for a good bit of time, talking and singing. At about the 8:30 mark, Jungkook gets up with the camera facing toward the bathroom/exit. He glances back that way a couple of times and then turns so the camera is facing away from that area. 

Throughout he and Tae singing together, Jungkook keeps glancing toward the hallway/bathroom. Tae brings up Dear No One by Tori Kelly, a song Jimin said represents him in June 2015 and that Jungkook said he loved in July 2015. Tae plays the song and Jungkook sings it while glancing repeatedly at something off camera. Then suddenly Tae brings up Jimin out of nowhere, says he texted him and is going to Jimin’s room if he responds, and immediately leaves the room.

The theory is that Jimin is actually the one who texted Tae and told him to GTFO the room. Once he leaves and goes back toward his own room, you can hear Jungkook’s door opening and closing and someone who sounds suspiciously like Jimin talking loudly in the background. Tae looks a bit weird/guilty, says he forgot the key to his room and must sign off Vlive so he can go get another key.

The next day, Jimin does a Vlive of his own where he’s petty about Tae possibly joining his Vlive. The theory is he’s still mad about Tae crashing Jungkook’s room the night before.

Hoseok Visiting Jimin’s room Vlive Tokyo 08.13.2016

Hoseok starts a Vlive. He eventually goes to Jimin’s room. When he’s let in, there is a very awkward moment where Hoseok won’t show the room and pulls Jimin into the frame, while the camera faces the door away from the room. Both of their eyes keep flicking to something off camera  and the whole vibe is weird/guilty.

Once they get into the room, Jimin seems distracted, looking around, taking stock of the state of the room. There is food and Hoseok asks if he was about to eat. It’s A LOT of food. Like maybe too much for one person. Then suddenly there is noise in the area of the door and Taehyung appears, but how did he get in if Jimin and Hoseok are the only people in the room? Or maybe it was Tae who was in the room to begin with? But then this happens.

Notice in the far right corner is the door to the bathroom (the dark opening) at the bottom of the door you’ll notice something moving. Some people say it’s a hand. Some people say it’s a foot. I don’t know what it is, but it’s definitely movement in a bathroom that shouldn’t have anyone in it.

Eventually Tae leaves. Then there’s a weird moment when Hobi does this??? In the video this part starts at 13:43 ish and Hoseok proceeds to tackle/tease Jimin on the bed while saying “Oh Jimin! Oh Jimin!” It’s very “big brother teases little brother about being caught with a significant other” vibes. 

So Hoseok leaves, but he leaves the camera with Jimin to continue the live without him. Jimin chats with ARMY while preparing to eat. It’s very clear at this point that someone is still in the room with Jimin. He keeps glancing off camera. At one point you can see a shadow cross the television screen behind Jimin. He keeps looking over to where the beds are and smiling/laughing. He makes some pretty sexual innuendo w/ a sausage that I don’t think is for ARMY’s benefit. In the end, I can’t say for sure it’s Jungkook in the room with him, but someone is definitely there.

Eat Jin Vlive 12.15.2016

In this live, Jin and Jimin are doing an Eat Jin Vlive. This is basically a common Vlive Jin does where he... you guessed it! He eats. He sometimes has other members join him and Jimin is a frequent guest. 

Jungkook knocks on the hotel room door to join the live and Jin and Jimin give him a hard time about entering the room. Finally Jungkook threatens that he’s going to post something to Twitter off his phone if they don’t let him in. Jimin calls his bluff and tells him fine, post whatever. Jin tells him not to be so hasty and they finally let him in. 

The whole vibe of the Vlive is weird. Jungkook is in a mood. Jimin is in a mood. At the end Jimin tries to flee the room and Jungkook grabs him and says, “Where are you running off to?” Jimin says he was going to the bathroom. Then Jungkook says, “I took a good selfie,” and attempts to show his phone to Jimin who immediately says, “I won’t go then.”

Then later that same day Jungkook posts this to Twitter. It’s the mysterious selfie he was trying to show Jimin in the Vlive. Some people think the mark on his neck above the collar of his coat is a hickey and that’s why threatening to post it kept Jimin from leaving the room.

Hoseok Birthday Vlive 02.17.2019

Hoseok starts a Vlive for his birthday. Eventually BTS (minus Yoongi who fell asleep) crashes his hotel room at midnight with a cake to wish him a happy birthday. Jimin shows up with wet hair wearing Jungkook’s shirt and mentions how he told Jungkook he wasn’t sure he could wake up for midnight and needed to set an alarm for 11:46 pm. 

Later, Jimin leaves, then comes back into Hoseok’s hotel room to yell at Jungkook to leave, grabs Jungkook’s arm, and they exit the room together.

The theory is that Jimin needed Jungkook to get back into their hotel room because he didn’t have a key.

Jungkook Vlive 05.18.2019

The theory here is that Jimin and Jungkook are sharing this hotel room and the clothes Tae comments on at 6:56 in the video are actually Jimin’s clothes, not Jungkook’s. As mentioned in an earlier section, this Vlive came directly after a Vlive featuring Jin and Jimin. In the Jin/Jimin Vlive, Jimin mentions the shirt he’s wearing isn’t his shirt. Jin asks him whose shirt it is, they stare at each other for a moment, and Jin says, “Never mind.”

Jimin is also only in a t-shirt in Jin’s Vlive. He leaves Jin’s room to chase after Jungkook, where he shows up a few minutes later on Jungkook’s Vlive, yet when he goes to leave Jungkook’s room, he goes over to the chair to grab a hoodie that he says is his. So, he was either hanging out in Jungkook’s room sometime prior to Jin’s Vlive, or the clothes were there because he is also staying in that room.

When Tae mentions Jungkook’s underwear being in the chair in front of everyone, Jimin immediately goes over to insert himself into that conversation.  Several times after Jin and Tae show up to the room Jimin announces that he’s leaving. Several. Times. And seems to get more and more annoyed when the others don’t want to leave too.

A couple of things to note. There are two suitcases. One is messy. One is incredibly neat. Jungkook is a neatnik. You’ll notice that when Tae and Jin start going through the clothing in the neat suitcase Jungkook immediately refolds everything to make it nice again but leaves the messy suitcase alone.

Finally Jimin does leave. Jin leaves too. Then suddenly the doorbell rings and Jungkook goes to investigate. Comes back and tells Tae no one was at the door. Then he tells Tae he’s going to wash up and go to bed. Tae seems uninterested in leaving the room. He’s spending time with ARMY. Jungkook stands behind him and says, “You’re really not leaving?” and they stare at each other through the camera on the Vlive for an uncomfortable and embarrassing amount of time.

Jungkook goes to the bathroom and you can hear him talking in there, but he doesn’t appear to be talking to Tae. So, the theory here is that when the doorbell rang earlier, it was Jimin and he’s reentered the room and is chilling in the bathroom until the camera goes off. 

The whole video (linked above) is a little over 13 minutes, amusing on its own, and worth watching if you want to 👁️👄👁️ over some suspect Jikook activities.

Living Together Theory

For a long time, BTS lived in various dorms together. But in 2018/2019, several of them bought apartments in different parts of Seoul. Both Jungkook and Jimin bought property. Jimin bought what seems to be a very run down apartment or possibly the entire complex of apartment units. (Reports are sketchy and not very detailed), but given the state of the apartment/s, most people think he bought it as an investment or possible remodeling project and he doesn’t actually live there. 

Meanwhile Jungkook bought an apartment in Seoul Forest Trimmage in late 2018. Hoseok also has an apartment there.

The car sharing situation to and from airports and events seems to fit with where the boys bought their apartments, grouping them by the areas where they purchased their apartments, so it’s likely none of them live full time in the dorm anymore. 

What is interesting is that Jimin often travels in the same car with Jungkook and Hoseok in 2019 even though, by all accounts, the property he bought isn’t near The Trimmage, nor is the dorm, if that’s where Jimin is still living. By 2020, Jimin and Jungkook seemed to be traveling to and from events almost exclusively together, and there have been recent rumors that Jungkook has bought another apartment and no longer lives at The Trimmage, explaining the absence of Hoseok traveling with them.

The car sharing is just one part of the belief among Jikookers that Jimin and Jungkook are cohabitating. There are also a bunch of small moments that add up to a bigger picture.

This Youtube stream about the new album where the band talks about texting Jimin their ideas and Jungkook says, “I’ll just tell them to you,” indicating they would be together and there is no need for a texting. For some reason BH didn’t translate that part. It’s at 24:38 when Jungkook touches Jimin’s leg. 

More Room Sharing

Now, as if it weren’t enough to be around each other all the time for work and potentially living together back in Seoul, there’s also been a few other times where it seems like Jimin and Jungkook are sleeping in the same room.

For instance, consider when they first arrive in Saipan for Summer Package 2018. There are cameras already set up in the entryways for all the members’ rooms, which obviously Jikook didn’t know because they go to Jungkook’s room together and freeze immediately when they see the camera. Kind of like they got caught doing something.

Jimin wanders around and plays it off like he just wanted to check it out and see how Jungkook’s big room was different before going to his own. Because that’s natural, right?

Whether Jimin ended up coming back and staying with Jungkook after they turned the cameras off is debatable, but there’s reason enough to suspect that was the original plan, at least.

Bon Voyage 3, filmed later that summer in 2018, gives us a little more to work with in thinking they managed to pull it off this time, at least for a couple nights. In the second episode, Jungkook wins the room-picking game and gets a room all to himself with a private bathroom. Taehyung joins the others later in this season and winds up picking Jungkook’s room to stay in for the rest of the trip. Namjoon and Hoseok share the room next door and use the bathroom in the living room, while Jin, Yoongi, and Jimin share the big room upstairs with its own bathroom.

And at least according to how the series is edited, this is how you’d think the sleeping arrangements were kept. However, there’s a few moments that feel a little off and could be interpreted as evidence that Jimin did not stay in the big room with Jin and Yoongi, but instead moved to Jungkook’s room after the cameras turn off at night.

The behind cam for episode 2 features Hoseok giving us a tour of the house showing where the members are staying (starts around 3:17). He mentions that some of them are in the shower. Now, he, Namjoon, and Yoongi are on-camera in the upstairs bedroom, so it’s not them. The door to the upstairs bathroom is closed, so someone (Jin or Jimin) is likely showering in there. The shared bathroom downstairs is shown to be empty when Hoseok walks by. No one is in Hoseok and Namjoon’s shared bedroom. Even though one bathroom is empty, there are still three members unaccounted for: Jin, Jungkook, and Jimin. 

Hoseok says he thinks Jungkook must be showering so he won’t go in his room. The video then cuts to Hoseok in his own room with Namjoon. Jimin appears soon after with wet hair, so he was definitely in one of the showers recently. Jin shows up, too, also with wet hair. So they’ve both showered, only one of them could’ve been in the one upstairs, and the shared bathroom in the living room was empty. That means someone had to be in Jungkook’s shower.

After the next cut, Hoseok starts to go into Jungkook’s room but stops in the doorway to tease him about how “amazing” his body is. You can hear Jimin say “you shouldn’t see this,” from inside the room. We can pretty safely assume Jungkook is at least a little naked here and fresh out of the shower. And remember, we just saw Jimin in the other bedroom, but now suddenly he’s in Jungkook’s room, where Jungkook is naked, before Hoseok got there? 

We can also see there are two sets of towels on the bed. Jungkook pulls one from the nearer stack to dry off his hair, and Jimin walks around to the far side of the bed where the second stack is.

So not only did Jimin likely use Jungkook’s shower before we saw him in Hoseok’s room earlier, but he also felt comfortable enough to come back to Jungkook’s room while he was showering. 

From another clip in the same behind cam, we get a pretty clear look at how Jungkook has settled in his room when he’s alone.

His suitcase is lying open and in front of the door, his electronics are all charging (also in front of the door), and his things are only on the nightstand closest to the door. It’d be pretty hard to get in that room without knocking into something and disturbing that setup, right?

The next morning, we see Jimin in Jungkook’s room, already dressed and ready for their date friendship trip, trying to wake Jungkook. (Episode 3 behind cam, starting around 4:50. It’s all very soft but there is also butt slapping, because of course.) 

What’s interesting, though, is that all of Jungkook’s things are still in front of the door. So either Jimin got in the door without moving any of the things that someone would reasonably knock into early in the morning when they came downstairs for a shower, or he was already in the room from sleeping there overnight.

Also, that other nightstand is no longer empty. There’s now a glass of water sitting there, even though Jungkook seemed to only be using the other nightstand last night. And this is also the side of the bed where the other set of towels were, the side of the bed where Jimin sat down like he was comfortable doing that in someone else’s room.

More confirmation that Jimin is using the shower in this room: he tells Jungkook that they’re out of shampoo in that bathroom.

Now, this all comes to an end once Taehyung arrives and it’s pretty clear he is sleeping in Jungkook’s room and Jimin is back up in the upstairs room with Jin (Yoongi left when Taehyung joined them). But we get one last moment where Jimin’s habits of feeling free to come and go in this room as he pleased reveal themselves (Episode 4 around 50:47). Everyone starts to get ready to make dinner but Jimin walks into the room to do something:

Then immediately walks back out. 

Kind of like he forgot for a second that’s not his room anymore. Or at least that’s the theory.

Big Moments

This moment might seem small, but it was in 2015 at the height of the “Jungkook hates Jimin” narrative. It’s one of the first recorded instances of Jungkook initiating a flirty moment between the two of them.

In Korea, the Coming of Age Ceremony is performed in May by men and women turning 20 in the same year. Jungkook asked Jimin to perform this dance with him for Jungkook’s Coming of Age Ceremony.

Here’s another pretty significant Jikook dance moment. It’s them in the studio dancing to Own It, as choreographed by Brian Puspos (who they have now collaborated with many times - in Serendipity and My Time’s choreography, to be precise). I guess what these dancing videos show you was that earlier on, when they were navigating one another, they always had dance and their passion for it as their common denominator and favourite form of bonding.

Keep in mind that Jungkook did everything for GCF Tokyo. He filmed it. He edited it. He chose the song for it and uploaded it all as a surprise for ARMY and for Jimin. 

This photo was tweeted a week before the videos, pretty sure people were still partly oblivious about the fact that they were travelling together on their own because no one wanted to believe the sightings without solid proof so here’s Jimin dropping a lil nugget because he’s a giver, a philanthropist.

They continued to talk about their Tokyo trip every chance they got in interviews and you could tell how much fun they had and how much it meant to them to spend that time together. 

A couple of weeks after they got back from their trip, we got this E Entertainment interview in which Jungkook says he would like to do camera work/recording. When asked what he wants to film, he says, “Sky,” pointing up to the sky, followed by, “People,” pointing to Jimin.

Sweets Party in Harajuku (7:35 to 9:03) The thing Jungkook likes most about Jimin is how shameless he is lately. 😳 Surprising exactly no one, Jimin acts extremely shameless about this.

Yeah so. I don’t know. Jimin was fine and then Jungkook cages his entire body around Jimin, shouted “I love YOU!”, and then Jimin started crying. Jungkook’s natural reaction to that? Oh, you know, just put Jimin’s ear in his mouth and sucked on it. Make what you will of all that.

Jungkook Vlive 05.18.19. This one has a lot of moving parts. First of all Jungkook starts this vlive after he tried to go visit Jin and Jimin, who were doing a vlive of their own prior to this one. Jin and Jimin were just about to sign off their vlive when Jungkook knocked on Jin’s hotel room door to join them. They quickly turn the vlive off, not knowing who it is at the door and not wanting to deal with adding another person to the vlive as they were saying goodbye. Jin recorded them answering the door here. 

You’ll notice when Jin turns back toward the door, Jungkook and Jimin are both gone. A few minutes later, Jungkook starts a vlive. Things to note, Jimin’s “Jungkook scolded me.” The general tension between the two of them. All. The. Touching. And Jimin’s growing irritation as more and more band members show up to Jungkook’s room 😂. I recommend watching the whole thing. It’s only 13 minutes of pure chaos. There will be more on this one in tinhat theories. 

Jungkook’s Vlive  

Jungkook’s Birthday Tweet to Jimin 10/13/2019 in which Jungkook posted some terrible pictures of Jimin with the following message, that reads like a love note when you remove all the “sorry’s”.

Translation: Jiminie-hyung Happy Birthday. Really sorry. Sorry. Sorry once again. You are cool no matter what you do. Sorry. You still seem to be sleeping. So sorry. You know my heart don’t you? Sorry. You are me. I am you. So sorry. I had to do it for the laughs.

RAIN FIGHT! 

During Festa 2020, the boys were supposed to tell the person to their left something they felt sorry for in their relationship. Jungkook wanted to tell Jimin he was sorry about that fight they had in the rain 4 or 5 years ago. Yeah. Let’s get this K-Drama started.

Every single jikook neoneun na naneun neo moment

In Jimin’s solo song Serendipity, there is a line “neoneun na naneun neo” which translates to “You are me. I am you.” Jimin and Jungkook have sort of adopted the line as one of their THINGS. They have a lot of Serendipity moments, but the one below is our favorite because we feel like they’re letting us watch a special and private moment between them.

On Jungkook’s birthday this year BTS also got their first Billboard Hot 100 #1. Over the next day we learned what each member was doing. Jimin said he found out at 4 am, that he was with Jungkook, and that they both just cradled their phones and cried.

2017 Kkul FM (Kkul FM is SUGA’s sporadic radio show; he does an episode every year during Festa week which is the week we celebrate their debut day - June 13, 2013)

Jungkook is basically questioned by his hyungs as to why he’s only ever bought Jimin a birthday gift and no one else. The “questioning” is very teasing but also extremely roundabout in that we don’t end up with a proper answer anyway.

So, Jungkook may never give us an answer on why Jimin is the only member to receive a gift, but we kind of think it’s because they’re... you know... And since this is a primer put together by a group of tinhats, it wouldn’t be complete without going over some of the more well known tinhat theories. Strap on your foil hats and let’s go.

Physical Affection

All of BTS is very touchy-feely, but Jimin and Jungkook’s interactions often feel a little different. The main difference being there is just SO MUCH MORE OF IT compared to the others. Jimin naturally shows his affection through touch, so you will notice a lot of the things in this section are going to be Jimin initiated moments. Jungkook tends to be both more subtle or goes so hard you get second hand embarrassment from it.

Boyfriend Privileges

Sure we like to joke around that our ship are “boyfriends” or “married”, but Jimin and Jungkook sure love pushing that joke into real-life territory because of how they behave and operate around one another. They even put most of their tactile, and also boundary-less band mates to shame. 

In this Bangtan Bomb of JK’s graduation, we see him in the car with Jimin and Taehyung and they’re talking about what JK wants as a gift now that he’s basically done with school (1:38 in video). He asks for Jimin to pay for the meal but eventually, he asks for an apartment lmao.

Now this may not be very important because it’s obvious JK is saying it in a joking manner but the implications of this is truly something. In Korean culture, part of the common pre wedding ceremony is for the men (usually older than the women) to supply and prepare the residence where he and his future bride will live while the women supply and prepare the household goods needed to run the home. Jungkook asking for an apartment, especially in this context, where Jimin is clearly playing up his indulgent hyung role, is bold af. Jimin’s reaction is also priceless. 

For Jungkook’s birthday in 2018, Jimin gave Junkgkook a Louis Vuitton bag to replace his beat up Canon camera bag. Look at him just unpacking the bag and moving JK’s things to the new one??? Look at Jungkook’s face as he does it, exasperated but resigned. Look at Jimin knowing JK is exasperated and enjoying it too much. Again, boyfriend privilege at work!

All the times Jimin has asked for a kiss...

“Jungkook-ah? Kiss?”

The time Jungkook had to buy certain members' clothing items and Jimin tried to sneak a hat into the pile to make Jungkook pay for it and Jungkook just… did it. Jimin adds the hat at 2:30 and shenanigans ensue 

Jimin and Jungkook having extra privileges with one another is not always seen in loud, big moments like those, but in the quiet, almost reflex moments that are usually only noticed when you’re really paying attention.

Like, Jimin putting his phone in Jungkook’s jacket cause he doesn’t have anywhere else to keep it:

This next one is a clip from the special music video for JK’s solo song Euphoria. It was part of 2019′s Festa and it’s a great watch if you want to get a glimpse into Junkgook and his friendships and relationships with his band members, but it’s also excellent as a Jikooker when you realize a large majority of the footage is stuff Jimin has recorded on his phone. 

This bit is toward the end. Jungkook is recording himself using Jimin’s phone when Jimin gets a notification and Jungkook says, “what’s this?” and goes to open the message. Basically: “who’s texting us, babe?”

Backstage JK squeezing himself into a corner just to be near a sleeping Jimin. In the full video you can see two available chairs and yet... 

This is one of our favourite moments: it’s Jimin’s birthday and his dad has sent over flowers for him. This is apparently a tradition for Jimin’s father to give him flowers on his birthday. Jungkook is tasked with handing the flowers over (because of course) and he looks like a sweet nervous prom date while doing so.

A big boyfriend privilege moment is Jungkook finding an excuse to touch each member’s nose (it was part of his hidden camera mission for the event)...

Tae (he pretends Tae has something on his nose) and Joon (he pretends to be fixing his blindfold).

Hoseok and Jin also get the old “fixing the blindfold” trick while Jungkook uses being blindfolded to touch all over Yoongi’s face for his nose.

But he just straight up boops Jimin’s nose with no hesitation. Please look at both their smiles!!!!!

This moment……. We’re still in our feelings over it. Jungkook got emotional and cried a lot for the last concert for their Speak Yourself Tour. Jimin kept going over to comfort him.

It goes both ways. During their online concert MOTS ON:E last month, Jimin cried a lot after seeing ARMY’s faces. He’d missed doing live shows and was not expecting to see ARMY on the monitors they had at the venue. Jungkook, who usually faces his body towards Jimin when he’s talking during their ending ments, waited until Jimin was done and then, couldn’t help himself, walked over to comfort him.

Also, another whole level to this boyfriend privilege thing is how differently Jungkook treats Jimin compared to the other members. Like, one of the most defining things about Jungkook is that he is willing to fight, wrestle, trick, and mess with his hyungs to win whatever game they’re playing. He’s extremely competitive. However, he makes a few (a lot) of exceptions for Jimin.

Best example: Jimin gesturing to Jungkook to fly across the stage and let him win for this push game thing they play a lot (the aim is to push one another off balance, basically. It’s all about timing and strength. Jungkook tends to win).

This is the same game and here we see Jungkook loses all the competitiveness in his blood, once again, in the face of one Park Jimin.

Naturally, he can’t help himself and doesn’t always let Jimin win. Like, in this episode of BTS RUN where they’re stuck in a sauna and you can only come out once you’ve answered the question correctly. Jungkook plays against Jimin and wins on a question about Jimin. Jimin doesn’t fare so well and is stuck in the sauna for a lot longer or at least, long enough for Jungkook to get guilty about it and say, “I should have let Jimin-hyung win.”

Sometimes, Jungkook even purposely loses so that he can spend more time with Jimin. Like he did in BV2 when they were picking rooms via this bottlecap game. Basically, the aim is to flick your bottlecap to the other end of the table. To win, you want yours to be the one that has travelled the furthest. You lose, of course, if yours falls off the table (like JK’s…. TWICE). He’s actually really good at this game and so is Jimin so it’s suspect that they’re suddenly really bad now… hm!

This last one is probably the softest. Jimin hasn’t been getting anything right during the game so he went quiet and sulky and pouty. Jungkook asked how many he’s gotten correct and Jimin says none of them. Jungkook gets quiet and stops guessing (even though he was on a bit of a roll with his answers). Get you a boyfriend who notices and pays attention and then lets you have a go!

Lastly, they just LOOK like a couple anytime they’re sitting next to each other. The body language! The touching!

Eating Together

Jimin and Jungkook talk a lot about how they “click”. Even in the early days you could tell they had a lot of fun together when Jungkook let himself relax and Jimin wasn’t pushing too hard. As a result of how well they get along, they spend a lot of time together both in a work environment and outside it. Here are just a few of the Jikook dates/hangs that we know about.

Since both boys are from Busan, they have been making the trip home for the holidays together for years now. Here are just a few of the documented instances of them travelling to Busan or back to Seoul from Busan together.

October 28 2017 Jungkook and Jimin went on a trip to Japan together during their time off from BTS. According to a fan that spotted them at the airport, Jimin’s dad, Jungkook’s dad, and Jungkook’s brother dropped them off. You can find more details about this trip in the Big Moments section.

February 15 2018 -Jungkook and Jimin went to an escape room with Jimin’s friend Sungwoon.  Jimin and J-Hope had been doing promo in Japan prior to this. Jimin returned to Seoul on 2/13/18 without J-Hope. Jungkook was at Jeju Island with his family until 2/12/18 and returned to Seoul alone. Who knows what they did for Valentine’s Day. I just hope everyone had fun.

July 2018 during filming of S3 Bon Voyage, Jimin and Jungkook used an airport layover to have a breakfast date. Not a super huge STATEMENT but they are cuddly through the entire 11 minute behind the scenes cut and the breakfast itself feels domestic as hell.

October 4, 2018 Jimin posted this to Twitter after Episode 2 of Bon Voyage aired. BTS went on a boat ride together. At the end of the night, Hoseok, Namjoon, Yoongi, and Jin (Taehyung hadn’t arrived yet) got off the boat and Jimin and Jungkook went back out to watch the red moon together. During the episode, the Big Hit editors put [Star, Wind, and Romance Mood] as the caption for this date. (Filming was in summer of 2018)

November 25 2018 BTS returned from their Osaka, Japan concerts to Seoul. Jungkook and Jimin immediately went skating at the famous Lotte World Ice Rink together. The video was filmed by a person who claims to have seen them in casual passing and recorded them, but many people believe they are a sasaeng (stalker fan). We’ve decided to include it here. It’s been spread around so much at this point that it’s easily googleable.

 June 5 2019 Jimin’s friends came to London to watch BTS perform at Wembley Stadium. Jimin and Jungkook went out with them for a day of eating and sightseeing. Especially meaningful when you consider that Jimin has said in the past he doesn’t really like sharing his friends group with anyone.

May 29 2019 went to see Avengers Endgame together. Jungkook loves Iron Man. Jimin said he cried at the end. 

Late August/Early September 2019, Jimin decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Paris with a friend at the end of August. On August 31st at about 9:15 pm Paris time (5:15 am on September 1st in Korea, aka Jungkook’s birthday), Jimin posted a video to Twitter wishing Jungkook a happy birthday.

Meanwhile, actual Jimin was on an 11 hour flight back to Seoul to surprise Jungkook for his birthday. We learn from a vlive Jimin posted on his own birthday in October, that he got in late that evening, went straight to Jungkook, then got up the next day to get on another flight to Hawaii for a pre planned trip with a different friend. The things we do for love.  

Speaking of literally no one would take an 11+ hour flight to spend a couple of hours with their co-worker on their birthday, let’s move on to Boyfriend Privileges!

Early Years

So. In the beginning of Jimin’s and Jungkook’s relationship, 9 times out of 10, it was Jimin making the ~moves~ and pushing Jungkook to interact. Jungkook seemed to resist and acted like he did not like Jimin. Fandom sort of adopted this belief that Jimin made Jungkook uncomfortable and it’s stuck even into 2020 when it’s very obviously not true. Interpretations vary, but both Jimin and Jungkook have stated both in words and actions, unequivocally, that they like each other a lot.   

Jimin was the trainee with the least amount of training years. Most members had been training together for a long time, some of them years, by the time Jimin joined in 2012. (Jungkook joined Big Hit in 2011.) As a result, Jimin had to initiate a lot of the bonding because that’s usually how it is in Korean culture/younger and older dynamics anyway. Young JK was extremely shy and has said himself that he often acted cold toward Jimin because he liked him too much and didn’t know how to express himself. 

You can imagine that being so shy, and being confronted by Jimin’s boundless energy and affection, could be a bit overwhelming for the introverted Jungkook.

So, there was a lot of Jimin seeking Jungkook out and pushing Jungkook’s boundaries in 2013/14:

But in quieter times, when video cameras weren’t rolling, you could tell that Jimin and Jungkook weren’t the enemies fandom liked to make them out to be:

Around 2014-2015, you could tell Jimin was starting to tone down his “pursuit” of Jungkook. Who knows if it was a realization that Jungkook didn’t like being the center of attention, (something Jimin may have had a hard time relating to LOL), or if it was simply fatigue at being rejected. Regardless of the reasons, Jimin found some chill and Jungkook found himself in the unfamiliar role of pursuer.

You can see in the video that Jungkook seems almost offended at the band’s disbelief, at Jimin’s disbelief, that he likes Jimin. 

But there is tons of early content that shows he did like him. Look how cute they are. :(

Their early relationship is where a lot of misconceptions around jikook stem from because they were very different people who exhibited their love and affection in very different ways. 

For example: Jimin talking about wanting to spend time alone with JK and Jungkook’s annoyed/resigned sigh. 

Now, we fast forward a year or so later:  COME ON. LOOK AT THE CHANGE IN JK’S FACE. THE GROWTH. THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

Fun note! This is the same interview where Tae says, “I think he likes men,” about Jimin and Jimin’s response was simply, “Well, I don’t like you.”

Jikookers felt very vindicated when this first came out because it was around the height of everyone being convinced that JK hated/was annoyed/was uncomfortable with Jimin AND YET here he is backhugging Jimin while cameras weren’t around.

Jungkook thinks the mission will be hard because they don’t say things like “thank you” to one another. He decides to tell Jimin he looks handsome and is rewarded with an immediate “thank you”, hence that reaction.
