The Play Times Octopath Traveler II

Play Time: 9️⃣0️⃣Hours ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - 10/15/2024

I didn't 100% the first Octopath Traveler, and I just finished the last chapters of the 8 traveler's. So, it's nice to see the little crown in the title screen—that shows that you're done with the game. I finished all of the quests in II, but I didn't bother to 100% it. Besides, there's no percentage progress indicator in the game, so as long as you just finished all the quests, I think it's completed—or maybe "beaten" is the right term—already. I didn't bother to purposely trigger all the banter scene, collect the music, steal and scrutinize all NPCs, search every corner for chests, etc. Octopath Traveler II is definitely much better than the first one, but no one can take the spot of my Favorite Octopath Traveler Character—Therion. It might be nice if there's a DLC where we can interact with the first eight travelers in the first game, but I don't think they're with the same setting? A multiverse-thingy maybe? Anyway, the QoL, and mechanics are definitely gotten better compared to the first one. And hopefully, in the Octopath Traveler III—let's just hope that there will be a III—more QoL and mechanics, and more interaction between the eight travelers. More collectibles, and more content. I don't care how much long would it take to beat the game, as long as it's enjoyable, that's what's important.

My Favorite Traveler: Throné Anguis🗡️

I like assassin-type character, and what's the most assassin-like class in the game?—It's the Thief. That's why I choose her as my main character (the first chapter that I finished). Her story is good, but it has a little impact on me—I love mystery stories but not dark. Her skills are mid, because she's probably built for being a debuffer unless you've unlocked the Aeber's Reckoning which hits really hard as long as you have enough Phys. Atk. and Speed. Her Latent Power is the most awesome to all though in my opinion—two turns in one wave is a game-changing mechanics, especially in late game where the boss is too thick. Overall, I love her.

My OTP: Temenos X Crick (If only he lives...)

I love the chemistry of this two. The brain and the brawn. But when I researched about this two, I saw that Temenos' canon age is 30, and Crick's 22. Well, who cares about a little of age gap. Besides, Temenos doesn't looks like 30 at all! Gender doesn't matter, but I think we should consider the age... but 8 years gap is probably not that high—as long as it's not 18 and 10.

Story Temenos - I love murder-mysteries. Partitio > Throné > Castti > Agnea > Hikari > Ochette > Osvald

Character Personality Mama Castti - Oh, to have a mother like Castti. Temenos > Throné > Partitio > Osvald > Hikari > Ochette > Agnea

Overall Strength Throné - She's just over leveled in my case, because she never left my party, not once. In short, this is just biased-ry. Castti > Temenos > Hikari > Agnea > Ochette > Osvald > Partitio

Others Best Physical Damage Dealer: Hikari (Next is Throné) - I don't like Hikari that much, but I can't really lie that he's not strong, just because I like Throné. Best Elemental Damage Dealer: Temenos (Yes, Not Osvald) - And then after Temenos (w/ Alpione's Amulet and 1 HP and a lot of SP) uses his Sacred Effulgence to one shot all enemies, he proceed to says: "Fighting is... not what I do." Best Support: Castti - Everyone can be a good support with a proper Secondary Job—the best one is Cleric in my opinion, because of Aelfric's Blessing which grants you the ability to act again at the end of a turn. But no one except Castti has the Concoct ability, which is overpowered and good for bosses.

Dream Admiration✍️ (My Dream—noun; a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep—Story)

I met a girl(?) on my dream. She has this androgynous look and voice, so I can't really say for sure if she was a "she" or not. Call it a "gut feeling" when I say she was a girl.

It was in the elevator, she's with another guy... and that's it. Nothing really happened that is worth noting.

But the moment I got off the elevator, they say "good luck" to me—because in that dream, I'm participating in some kind of contest. And during this time, I know one thing for sure: in a dream, and even now in reality, I really want to know that girl's name.

Both of them says their good luck to me, but for some reason, only the girl there is enough to satisfy my curious mind. Love? No, I don't think so... Who's going to fall in love in a dream anyway.

After that, all the places around me changed—it feels like there's a transition that occurred, moving on to the next scene. But of course, I only realized it after I woke up.

I don't think the contest part is really that important in what I want to express, but I should write it down anyway. It was a contest where you're supposed to make people have fun. It's really vague, but I have come up with something about this, based on the dream itself, and based on my interpretation with it: the winner will be the one who'll have the highest vote, but there's a twist that you can just vote for someone, one minute after they perform. It's like a vote at first laugh/smile/fun, you have to vote them without seeing the next performer's.

And spoiler alert! I won that contest! How you ask? Let me tell you a story first. After a great performance of a great singer named Heart—now that I think about it, why does the only one with a name is her, if I'm going to learn someone's name anyway, I want it to be that girl—everyone felt despair, the one before her, and the one after her, because of her insane vote counts. Even the next performer didn't come up with the stage after her.

What's more, someone came in to the venue after Heart's performance. There was a three to five suspicious person there. People in the venue are looking tense, and probably thinking: are they a robber? a killer gang? But the suspicious gang didn't do anything at all—and that cause more tension.

Suddenly, after that, those gang just burst out laughing. Doubts are in the air, but all you need is just one person in the venue to laugh—and it did—and all will burst out laughing.

I admit that it was my doing, and I received a lot of votes for it—much higher than Heart. I don't really know why though. Well, my mind knows nothing, but my body in that dream knows what she's doing.

Going back to the girl. After the performance... I just kind of woke up and decided to write this.

I'm actually in a dilemma; of whether I should sleep again in hopes for a part two, or just forget about it and play video games that I usually do, especially because this is my last day as a free woman, since tomorrow will be the start of my school hell days again.

And... my gamer heart won. Video games is greater than love anyway. Besides, it's just a dream, and let alone not a love. If I'm going to name this feeling, "admiration" would be the perfect word. 'Cause me? Loving someone? I don't think it'll happen.

Honestly though, I really wonder what her name is... or will I even see her in this bull sheet reality?

If given by chance, I would've really like to meet her. Maybe what I felt in that dream is my gamer detection thingy, where I can feel if the other person likes playing video games, same as me. And to be honest, that's just all I wanted.

To meet someone who enjoys something I enjoy, someone that I can talk to about the joy of gaming, I don't care what their gender is—'cause it doesn't matter—all I wanted was a friend who shares the same passion as me, someone who will understand me, someone... just someone...

This dream is really weird. And I'm willing to have a part two of it. Whether it'll happen in a dream again, or maybe in reality, I don't care. I love mysteries anyway, but I don't want that mysteries to go unsolved.

And I didn't mention it earlier, but that girl has this same vibe with one of my classmate. Vibes, just the vibes. Maybe her sister? or brother? a doppelganger? or maybe, "her" itself? My own version of "her" to be precise.

Well who cares about this anyway—maybe I did.

I don't even know why I decided to write this. It's much more detailed and longer than any of my essay. If there's a part two of this dream, or if I uncover the mystery of that girl, I'll continue writing on this.

For now, I'll just leave it here. The moment that I will write a part two, will probably not going to happen anyway.
