What am I up to now?
I am originally from Massachusetts, so when I moved to college in San Diego, I was pretty lost at first. There was no horseback riding for me, I did not have my trainer to help me lift, and I did not yet have a group of friends to be active with. Honestly, my freshman year roommates were not at all interested in going to the gym or going on a hike, or doing anything that involved movement. It was pretty tough for me because I lived a busy and active life in Massachusetts. I worked out daily in the school gym, and I attended the workout classes offered by the school. It was fine, but I did not really feel connected to what I was doing. It was not util my sophomore year that I really came out of my shell and made an effort to connect with people and get involved on campus. I joined the San Diego State wakeboarding team, and met some of my best friends. The best part is that they shared common interests with me. I also happened to be roommates with a big fitness enthusiast. She introduced me to her favorite gym in San Diego, Renegade Fitcamp. I was very anxious about Renegade because it is high intensity interval training, which basically means it is fast and hard. I also used to hate any form of cardio, and Renegade has a fifteen minute cardio routine in every class. To my surprise, I loved the workout. Not only did I find a gym I feel connected to, I also made a great friend to go with me. I raved about Renegade to my friends on the wakeboarding team, and they came and tried it with me. They also loved the workout and joined the gym. They currently both have unlimited memberships and Renegade, and I now have a community of friends to workout with. I now work at Renegade, and I love connecting with the fitness community. I meet new people every day with common interests to mine, and I have never been happier. My advice to you is to surround yourself with people like you. Find people with common interests! I promise you will connect on a deeper level than people you do not share interests with. I also recommend surrounding yourself with people who have positive energy and work hard to achieve their goals. If you are friends with someone who always has something negative to say, you will eventually adopt this mindset as well. If you surround yourself with people who believe they can change the world, you will start to believe that you can too. I believe in you, and I hope that my blog inspires you to believe in yourself. As always, please reach out if you need anything. If you just need a positive person to support you, I’m your girl!

A little bit about horses
Tumblr media
I want to go a little bit more in depth about my first post because riding horses has been a huge part of my life. When I was only two years old, my mom put me on a horse for the first time, and I have never looked back. I absolutely loved it. I took riding lessons, and when I was nine years old, my mom brought me to a competitive barn. I began competing at the national level, and it was HARD. Like, really hard. Mornings that began at four AM, competitions that ended late, and nonstop training. This was a lot of work for someone who was competing at an average level. I would do well, but I was not consistently winning, and when you compete at this level, winning is very important to you. When I was not at a competition, I was training six days per week for about five hours per day. I was not seeing much improvement in myself which was extremely discouraging. When I was fourteen years old, I was staying in a house with my trainer for a competition and she told me my eating habits were terrible. I was a self conscious fourteen year old girl, so this did not sit well with me. She told me that if I did not change my habits, I would not improve as a rider. Honestly, I was pissed that she would say something like that to me. My eating habits are MY business. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to make the change. I started a healthy eating plan, and worked with a trainer on my overall strength and condition. As mad as I was about my trainer’s comment, the change worked. Now, let me just emphasize the fact that I do not agree with telling someone how they need to live their life. We live in a world where women are constantly scrutinized for their bodies, and I do not support telling women what they can and cannot eat. Everyone should have the choice and freedom of living their life in a way that they see fit. As a competitive athlete, this lifestyle made sense for me. I am grateful that I made the change, but I am still angry that my trainer called me out in a not so nice way. This blog is in no way intended to tell you what to do with your body. This blog is my way of trying to relate to you, and to tell you some of the amazing life changes that have come with my change. If you feel like you want to make a change, or you feel like you are stuck, I am here for you. I promise you, I have been there, and I have been told some pretty harsh things along my journey. I am here to make sure that does not happen to you. This is a safespace for everyone, and I am here to support you.

What do you do?
I want to reach out to my readers and ask- what do you do to move your body in a healthy way? I personally do high intensity interval training every day, and I also walk my dog. I also enjoy wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and horseback riding, of course. I have found that on days when I am not active, I am very moody. Here’s the thing about exercise- it makes you feel good! There is scientific evidence to support this. Here is a great quote I found from WebMd: “When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine”. I thought I was crazy to be anxious on a day when I did not work out, but turns out, I was missing out on the daily endorphins that I am used to. Aside from all of the physical benefits of working out, it is great for your mental health. Are you feeling angry? Try taking a boxing class! It feels great to get your anger out by hitting a heavy object. Feeling stressed from school? Try taking a short walk outside! There is so much power in movement. We all have to start somewhere, so if you are not used to working out and you want to get started, I recommend starting with walking once a day. If you are interested in lifting weights but do not know where to start, please reach out to me! We have all been there, and the last thing you want is to get hurt. I will help you get started with an appropriate routine for a beginner. You will be a pro in no time! Please respond to this post with exercises that you enjoy, sports you like to play, or way you like to move! As always, reach out if you have any questions!

I used to hate working out...
I enjoy working out before the sun rises, and people ask me all the time if I’m crazy. I understand, because I used to wonder the same thing about people who worked out all the time. I didn’t understand how they could be so motivated. I also didn’t understand how people could eat so healthy all of the time. The main thing I have learned regarding this through the years is that we all have the option of living a healthy lifestyle. It can seem like it’s not an option for you because you think you don’t have time, or you think you love eating fast food and sweets too much. Well, I thought this way too. We’ve all been in this position, feeling helpless and unable to make the change. What I learned is that you really just have to throw yourself in and commit to what you want. That’s where I come in to help you. I used to workout once per week, and eat sort of unhealthy. However, when I wanted the change, I made the change. If you really want something, you will find a way to get it done. Do you work all day? Are you in school all day? I know it sounds hard, but find time before work. You will be able to find the time if you really want to change your life. It will take a few weeks to get into it, but once you have found your groove, you will feel great. Before you commit to my program, we will sit down and go over exactly what you want to get out of this. I have helped people with all different types of goals, and I will be able to help you no matter what your goal is. I am going to push you to your limits while keeping you perfectly safe. I believe in forming healthy habits, rather than achieving a short term goal. I want you to keep up with what you’ve learned because healthy living is a lifestyle. I am here to help you find the right workout and meal plan to achieve your goals. You do not have to go through this lifestyle change alone- I am here to guide you through, every step of the way.

Welcome!
Welcome to Jordyn’s Fitness blog! Follow along on my fitness journey, get inspired, and let me help you crush your fitness goals! I know what you’re thinking- why should I trust a random fitness enthusiast on the internet? Well, even though I am only twenty one years old, I have been doing this almost my whole life. When I was two years old, I started riding horses, and my fitness career took off from there. I competed at the highest level in show jumping from the time I was just ten years old, up until now. The biggest lesson I learned from competing is that if you really want something, you have to give everything you’ve got. You cannot put in minimal effort and expect to achieve your goals- it simply does not work like that. I, unfortunately, had to learn this the hard way. I was training every single day for at least four hours per day, but the effort just was not there. I would go through my lessons, but I would not retain what I had learned. I would workout with my personal trainer, but I would go home and eat unhealthy food. I was a good rider, but I simply did not have the strength and the stamina to be the best I could possibly be. One day, my riding trainer told me that all around, I had to get my head in the game. I was riding great, but I wasn’t winning- I simply did not have the stamina to compete at the level I was supposed to. I WANTED to win, and I knew that I would have to get my overall routine together. My personal trainer put me on a healthy eating plan and weight lifting routine, and I’ll be honest, it sucked at first. It takes a while to create good habits, but I started to see results, and since then, I have never looked back. I did not want to be the lazy equestrian that my trainers described me as (yes, I know, it is completely wrong for my coaches to call me lazy, but I put up with it). My new plan gave me the stamina and strength to be my best, and guess what? I began winning. No one could stop me. Trainers across the United States Equestrian Foundation literally used me as their example of how to become successful. The new me felt great. The new me is simply me- it is who I have always been meant to be. I know that everyone wants to be their happiest, best self, and I am here to help you be that person. Stay tuned to learn more about about how I can help you change your life.
