The Warrior Code is Fine
Ah, the Warrior Code; such a simple yet effective set of doctrines that has protected and preserved the forest clans for generations. It toke many moons and many lives to forge this illustrious code of integrity, duty and honor. Oh the rivers of blood that flowed from the veins of the clans forefathers in order to create and uphold the very sentiments. And what do the clans do to honor those who sacrificed so much to ensure their survival?
Why they break the code of course.
~ ~ ~
Every problem the clans face all can be traced back to someone breaking the warrior code. And if they weren’t breaking the code, they were going against unspoken laws like don’t kill your fellow clan mates or don’t order the demise of another clan.
Ideally, if a warrior fallows the warrior code, they know they wouldn’t be allowed to lead or be lead in a clan with fear and tyranny.
·         Do not hunt or trespass on another Clans territory
·         Elders and kits must be feed first
·         A kit must be six moons old to become an apprentice
·         No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from a different Clan
·         An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his or her battles
That’s five out of fifteen points against cruel leadership and hard conduct between warriors. They don’t necessarily stop leaders like Brokenstar and Tigerstar from coming into power but it does give other cats a duty to ensure they are removed from said power. By doing so, the warriors themselves are doing what they were born and trained to do, uphold the warrior code. “But Decepticat, I thought warriors were meant to protect their clan.” Right you are kiddo, but I think you’re missing the whole point of the warrior code, to protect the clans from annihilation.
Sure more could be added to the code to ensure other terrible things don’t happen but then that would take away to point of self-improvement and clan strength. If the code was formed to make sure nothing bad ever happened, what would be the point of having separate clans? If nothing bad ever happened, life as a clan cat would become pretty trivial and we as readers would lose interest.
Terrible things will happen and they must. Through hardship and rivalry, the clans and every warrior in them become stronger and will be better prepared for whatever happens next. I think instead of adding or revising the warrior code, we should focus on ways to enforce the already existing code as it is and encourage warriors to fight for their honor if anyone challenges or breaks it. The series is called Warriors, not Politicians.
In conclusion,
·         The warrior code is fine
·         The only problem is cats break it
·         Bring back Hollyleaf
I’m Decepticat, thanks for reading.
