Updated Big Thunder Brewery
Updated Big Thunder Brewery
Well, the brewery project is about to be amazing.
Johnathan Bennett Architects just posted a video of their renderings, which now include a THEATER!
We can also finally see how much of the mall will be used (spoiler: a lot!)
I’m feeling excited again!

Rest in Peace, Summit Park Mall
Rest in Peace, Summit Park Mall
Well, this is it.
Bon-Ton is going out of business, and it was just announced that Sears will be closing their store. The last two tenants of the Summit Park Mall are gone.
On the sportsplex side, it seems that the underground electrical cable is a more severe issue than we once thought. It seems that the sportsplex might be on hold (indefinitely).
The brewery is also in limbo. With no support…

2 years of the site
2 years of the site
Two years ago, I registered with WordPress to make a blog. We’ve had two years of Summit, Schaffest and random Canadian TV. Even though I’m not here as much anymore, the manatee is still rockin’ out. -RHM

Brewery's talking Q4 completion
Brewery’s talking Q4 completion
Here’s a link to today’s Niagara Gazette article. Wheatfield is remaining tight-lipped about the timeline for the Big Thunder Brewery, due to it being “privileged information.” That being said, the Local Development Board Chair Bill Wagner said he expects completion by the Fourth Quarter. That’s this year. He also said he expects the sports complex to be completed by Q4. Keep you fingers crossed,…

New Summit News!
Here’s an article link for you to read along. The new year brought new news about the Summit Mall. The brewery is looking to be a really awesome destination in and of itself, and talks about the “front of the mall” have me excited. Talks about the sports complex have also picked back up, so that’s exciting. Hopefully the planning board can get these projects fast tracked. -RHM

Bama wins, Summit Park Mall will open
Ladies and gents, I’m back for this. Last night, I had a dream that the Summit Park Mall was back open. It was back. It was alive. Now, I haven’t had a Summit Park Mall dream in months, but I had one last night. Why? Because tonight (a few hours ago actually) was the college sportsball footsport champ sport game. And guess who won? BAMA. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a lovely…

Honey, I'm home!
Honey, I’m home!
I neglect this blog so much… Well, since it’s October, I might as well get back on this thing. The readership here is *cough* abysmal, but it’s my own site, and I love it. The Summit Mall is remaining closed once again this year, crushing my dreams of the Sears to Bon-Ton Christmas shopping walk once again. In other news, I’ve started using Instagram. You can find it here. It’s Month of Korei,…

Movie to be filmed at Summit Park Mall
Well, this is a weird story in the Buffalo News. Apparently a movie being filmed, The True Adventures of Wolfboy, is looking for extras. I don’t care about that. What I do care about is this bit: Um…we’re shooting a film “on the old Summit Park Mall”? Crap. That’s something I didn’t see coming. -RHM

Summit wants metal: Back to Square One
Summit wants metal: Back to Square One
BREAKING: I’m going to just give up on the Summit Mall at this point. The lovely people over at the Summit Mall now want a metal structure for their sportsplex. Since they had planned for inflatable domes, two years of planning has just basically been obliterated. With teams contracted to play at the sportsplex as early as November according to one source, there is now a complete overhaul of any…

Why is there a fox-cat thing on the homepage?
I forgot to mention in the recent update I’ve yet again changed the homepage logo. It’s not a manatee, but it is wearing red! Those who know me would quickly be able to identify that fine fluff as Korei: the same Korei that’s been on the homepage for basically ever. “But what’s with all the fur and stuff?” I hear nobody asking. Well, Korei actually started off looking like that years ago. I drew…

Updating the blog
Well, what do you know: I’ve returned the blog back to the way it looked when it started. The last theme was actually retired by WordPress, and I decided that it was a bit too hectic. Back to the star background! I tend to neglect this blog, but I promise to bring you Summit Park Mall updates as they happen. I might even have other random bits, too. -RHM

Progress?
So, I was at the Summit Mall yesterday…and I didn’t even see an orange cone. I’m still going to believe that they’re going to meet their schedule: I don’t think Wheatfield will allow a slip-up. In other interesting news, there’s a “Now Leasing Space” sign in front of the mall with Cynthia Potts’ name on it. Maybe the interior will open? All I know is I had another Summit Park Mall dream last…

Summit Sportsplex construction starts NEXT WEEK
It’s been confirmed (by me) that construction on the Niagara International Sports and Entertainment dome is set to begin as early as next week. I can also say that the dome has been booked for games in November, so this sets the October completion day in stone. Isn’t this Exciting? -Red Hooded Manatee

Someone broke into the Summit Mall
Someone broke into the Summit Mall
Well, still no construction, but somebody broke into the Summit Mall. A couple of teenagers caused about $600 worth of damage to the security system. Am I mad? Of course I’m mad! How did they get through an unsecured door? What door on that building wasn’t secured? In the meantime, I would love to know why construction hasn’t started on the sports complex yet… -RHM

Doubt
I’m just leaving this article here to vent. Allegedly a member of Wheatfield’s development arm has about as much faith in the brewery in the Summit Mall as you’d expect from a dead mall project. I believe my favorite part is the statement that the demographic isn’t there to support this. The demographic of Western New York won’t support a brewery? Have you seen Lockport? In the meantime, I’ve…

Summit Mall news (and my prediction proven wrong)
Summit Mall news (and my prediction proven wrong)
The Big Thunder Mountain Brewery just got its $750k. Unfortunately I was blinded by my obsession to realize the reason Save-a-Lot left was because the Brewery is going in. In other words, the brewery and restaurant will be self contained in a building with no direct tunnel connection to the main mall. This also means that my belief that the brewery opening soon meant the mall was opening soon was…
