it’s kind of crazy how here on the so-called feminism website you literally can’t say something as simple as “dude is an inherently gendered term” without literally dozens upon dozens of people who consider themselves feminists showing up to say “idk i use it in a gender neutral way”. like idk how to tell you this but the fact that masculine words are considered default/neutral and feminine words are not is, in fact a reflection, of a patriarchal society.

maybe the most insane thing about my local in-person friend group is there are a not insignificant number of trans women and other queer people in it but it's typically the cishet man inviting me to things

"dude is gender neutral, guy is gender neutral, man is gender neutral" you ever stop and wonder why all the "gender neutral" words are actually masculine?? It's the same reason my 5th grade English teacher didn't like using he/she or they and insisted that if we used a third person pronoun it would always be he because that's "the professional" (default) way... she was a woman by the way

i do want to say, the pope dying is not Good. like haha on easter, we hate the churches and religion, but pope francis made real change within the church. he cared. he was willing to listen.

the next pope will hopefully be better, but there is a very real, very imminent chance that the next pope will turn back everything pope francis stood for. the next pope could very very well be a an extreme right leaning pope.
