“Your monsters really are tough!” He stated, admiringly, as he glanced at Harpie Lady that had appeared on the field.
Immediately, when the hologram of the face down card shattered, briefly revealing his Emerald Tortise, he frowned, feeling a little disappointed that he’d let one of his cards down. Reaching down, he picked up the card off of his Duel Disk, and gently placed it in his Graveyard slot.
“I’m sorry,” He murmured, quietly, to the card, as he gave it one final glance.
“That was a good move!” He gave her a small smile, to show that there were no hard feelings.
“Guess, it’s my turn!” He reached down, and drew a card from his deck. “Draw!” Briefly, his eyes scanned over his cards, before deciding on one.
“I’ll summon the Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger!” As he placed the card onto the Duel Disk, a holographic image of a tiger illuminated the feeling.
“I also think that I’ll follow your lead, an’ activate an Equip Spell of my own,” He added, holding up a card in his hand, so that she could see it.
“When equipped to a Crystal Beast, it gains 800 attack, an’ it has another attack when its destroyed, but I’ll save that for later.
“But, the fun don’t end, there! Topaz Tiger gains 400 attack, when it attacks an opposing monster, givin’ him a gran’ total of 2800! Tiger, attack Harpie Queen!”
It seem the Harpie Queen closed her eyes and smirked at the compliment Jesse gave her and Mai couldn’t help but chuckle. “Flattery can only get you so far, Jesse.” She watched him looked over his Deck until she saw him play a Monster face down in defense mode before ending his turn.
“Hmm…”
‘What can he be planning…?’ She thought to herself before taking her turn. “It’s my turn! Draw!” She drew a card from her Hand, looking at it first before adding it to her Hand, thinking. Right now, she didn’t have a card that could reveal his face down Monster so the best thing to go at this…
“Here I come!” She takes a card and plays it. “I Summon Harpie Lady 1 (ATK 1300 / DEF 1400) in Attack Mode!”
The second Harpie appeared beside her the Queen, smirking at her before facing Jesse. “And she’s not an ordinary Harpie, Harpie Lady 1′s effect kicks in now! For all WIND type Monsters, their attack is raised by 300! And since Harpie Lady 1 is a WIND type as well, she benefits from the boost!”
An aura surrounded both Harpie Lady 1 and the Queen raising their attacks by 300; Harpie Lady 1′s attack was now at 1600 while Harpie Queen’s attack was now at 2200. “And I’m not done yet!” She took another card and played it. “I activate the Equipment Spell Card Cyber Shield and equip it to Harpie Lady 1! Suite up, Harpie!”
Now with the added armor, Harpie Lady 1′s attack rose with an additional 500 points, making it 2100 Attack. “So what do you think, Jesse? Too much Harpie for you?”

“What sor’ of deck d’you use?” He asked, curiously.
"Hello, Jesse." Maria smiled as she sat beside him.
“Hi, there!” Instinctively, the friendly side of him waves to her. “How d’you know my name, though? I don’ think I’ve ever seen you, before,”

“That’s understandable!” He agreed, eagerly. “There are all kinds of different cards out there,” He admitted. “I haven’ met anyone who could see the spirits since Jay,” He explained. “D’you happen to know Jay?”
((Can't think of a setting but here is a starter. =D)) A brunette haired girl with bright blue eyes was running about happily, a gold ball monster with two pairs of wings in her arms. She wasn't really paying attention and wound up crashing into someone and landing on top of them. She groaned a bit and opened her eyes and when she saw what she had done quickly jumped off and scooted away. "Ah! I'm so sorry about that!" she squeaked, sitting on the ground still, the spirit dizzy-eyed next to her
He’d been walking aimlessly, around the Academy, before he’d felt something crashing into him. Stumbling backwards, he felt a weight fall on top of him, and gave a small groan of pain. “I suppose that’s one way t’make an entrance,” He joked, as he managed to raise himself into a sitting position.

“Don’ worry ‘bout that!” He replied. “I’m doin’ this ‘cause I want to help ‘ya! This card seems t’mean a lot to you, and I’m more’n happy to help out.”
She laughed a little, replying with a teasing lit to her voice, “Asks the one… who couldn’t even think of o-one specific card.” Still, she smiled and nodded appreciatively, adding, “Th-thank you very much, I promise to… pay you back with something… equally as rare, i-if that is the case of course”

“O-Oh,” He nodded, slowly. “I understan’.” He tried to give the other male a reassuring smile. “So, how are you likin’ your fellow classmates? Are the other kids in Slifer nice?”
🌙 (For the meet my muse meme)
🌙 - In the middle of the night
“The night here is really something, isn’t it?” He murmurs, slightly, as he shifts his legs, so that he’s now sitting in a cross-legged position. “Doesn’t quite compare to the view at North Academy, but it’s still pretty stunnin’.”

“You lost your own soul, at some point?” He asked, frowning, slightly. He trierd to imagine living without a soul, but he just couldn’t fathom what that must feel like - if it even felt like anything, at all.
“Cards that you can wear?” The concept was unfamiliar to him, but sounded fascinating, nonetheless. “Cards with abilities are always great. You should never judge a card by its attack.”
“They really are m’treasures,” He admitted, with a fond smile on his face. “They’ve become the only cards that I can ever see myself usin’ - that’s how valuable they’ve become to me,”
“You feel that way about your own cards, righ’?” He asked, eagerly. Meeting duelists who shared connections with their cards never failed to excite him.
① ② ③
“It was, really I thought it was doin’ me good; however it really wasn’t… an’ losing my soul wasn’t ‘xactly the outcome I had in mind.”
Valon said, pausing there as he had thought back to when he had lost a duel with Wheeler then his soul was gone to Leviathan right after that.
“Me cards are really great, I get ta wear them an’ all- plus they ‘ave wicked abilities.” When the other had mentioned that he used a Crystal Beast deck, that did seem pretty cool and never thought it really it could exist- but apparently so; it’d be cool if he got his hands on some.
But then again, those cards might be the only one of its kind. “That seems pretty cool, I bet they’re real treasures.”

“That makes sense. Have you thought of what you want to do, once you graduate?”
“Yes, that is what I’m planning on doing. I wouldn’t be able to do much career-wise without completing high school…”

“Well, I don’ know if that’s a fair thing, to say,” He admitted, sheepishly. “Admittedly, we don’ know all that much compared to other worlds, and maybe where you’re from, such occurrences are common, but here, such things are unheard of it. How coul’ we expected to know all that, anyway?”
“Why was that, anyway?” He asked, quietly, with a frown on his face. “Can you change back whenever you please, or are you stuck in this canine form?” He asked, curiously.
“I sure hope so,” He crossed his arms, thoughtfully. Her words were truly thought provoking, and were beginning to strike a chord in him. “But, until then, there’s no point in stressin’ over the future, I feel,” He admitted, honestly.
As he listened to her explain her drawing, he scratched his head, sheepishly. He hadn’t even know most of these places were here, himself. “I can try, but like I keep tellin’ ‘ya, I don’ know this city, all that well. I’m as confused as you are, but I can still try, regardless,”
“No actually, I don’t.” Circadian answers while still finishing up the “map.” Stepping back onto the map to adjust it was part of her problem in the first place, because then those footprints had to be wiped away from the wooden edges of the box. “This might be a tad over your head, and I don’t say that to insult your intelligence at all, but friend, this world doesn’t know anything.” She said this as she stopped temporarily and turned to look at Jesse. “I don’t know if you’re aware of the multiverse theory. In most cases, it’s bull crap, but there are multiple realms in existence, mine being different from this one. Now to tie back to what you just said, I was born a human child. I was transformed into the creature you see as a dog, that I call a meridian canine form, by crossing into a specific realm called Hemlock Crossroads. I was fourteen. Heck if I know how old I am now.” She shrugged it off, continuing to work. If he got it, he got it, and if he didn’t, he would learn. If he didn’t learn, well, it really isn’t that big of a deal to Circadian at the current moment. “Oh a graduate. That’s nice. I always wonder what it would have been like to go to college or even high school, a proper one. Granted, I don’t have an education past fourth grade and failed a grade so I don’t suppose I was really goin’ places huh?” There was a little melancholy, bitterness, and even an envious edge to her tone that she was unable to keep out. Yet she was still nonchalant about it too. Her friendly demeanor had not gone away, either. “Eh, you’ll figure it out. Everyone always does. Or they don’t and they end up on the street. The guy who busts his back amounts to about as much as the one who doesn’t in most of these worlds. Pretty dark, pretty screwed up, but that’s the reality. I learned the hard way that you can’t blame yourself for reality. There’s no amount of fighting that’s going to change it.” Her back was turned as she said this and soon enough she climbed out of the box. She completely ignored the “impressive” comment, not with the intention of being rude, however. “Okay… Here’s what I’ve got. This is a guesstimate of where we are, this box made of sticks. It doesn’t account for the sandbox, this is supposed to be the entire park. That rock is placed a little ways out from the direction we came from and this…” She paused, placing a pawprint in the center of the map. “Is where I think I’m supposed to be. There’s a park, and some ponds and huge clocktower. That clocktower is where I need to be. …Any chance of you getting me there or having an address to somewhere close? Seriously though, I really appreciate your help here.” And she said it again just because she felt he needed to hear it.

“Well, if I find one in any packs, I’ll be sue to give t’you,” He promised, with a small smile on his face. “There any other particular cards you lookin’ for?”
She nodded her head at his response, thinking a bit for a moment. “W-well, I know they’re rare… but I could really use a second Magician’s Valkyria.” She already had one, and it was nothing but a huge benefit to her and her deck. A second could certainly put her opponents in a predicament, were she able to get both on the field.

“Same with yours,” He grinned, as he took note of her own spirit. “Happy Lover, huh?” He knew he’d seen that card from somewhere, before, and grinned, at the small angel spirit. “Mine is Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle!” He stated, somewhat proudly. “She’s m’best friend!”

“Righ’!” He nodded. “I look forward to seein’ how to wield a sword! I hope I’ll be decent at it,” He chuckled, sheepishly, as he recalled his own clumsiness, and wondered if that would be a big obstacle for him to overcome. “Yeah, I want to protect my friends,” He nodded, solemnly, glancing down at his duel disk.
“That’s true, but it’s the most convenient method of duelin’,” He pointed out, with a small smile on his face. “I’m sure I can take turns usin’ a sword, an’ my Duel Disk,” He suggested with a small smile.
Thinking quickly, he grabbed a couple of deck cases too, one red for himself and one blue for Jesse, and left a single Gald coin next to the register for Dorothy to pick up–if the gald coins were as valuable here as Jesse’s reaction told him they were, he figured one was more than enough–before hurrying out after his companion, though his sensitivity allowed him to hear every word Jesse said even as he was walking off. “Well, since I am going to be teaching you how to use a sword, and we’ll probably be sparring a lot, I’d rather make sure nothing happens to them… don’t want to lose your friends, right?”
He probably would never forgive himself if Jesse’s, or even his own, cards got destroyed in the middle of a sparring match, accident or not. Not after he’d just got them, and he was planning on making friends with the Duel Spirits residing within these cards. “Besides, I would think the Duel Disk would probably get in the way sometimes, with using a sword and everything.” It was kind of convenient that it could hide away though.
