If you had the power to keep a show renewing every season, just to watch the lesbian couple evolve and grow, year after year, which show would you choose? You’re only allowed one! :) It can be a show from the past as well.

I’ve been watching “lesbian” content since the 90s.  From Xena Warrior Princess to Wynonna Earp.

My choice: Hightown.  

Jackie and Leslie have something that I haven’t seen before and I want to see more.  They are both seriously flawed, but realistically flawed and that’s hard to find. I want to watch them grow and evolve separately and together. Their chemistry is off the charts for me. I don’t know what that says about me because of their dysfunction but it’s about time we’ve seen very complex, flawed female lesbians on tv.

Love this list, and yes I’d put Jackie and Leslie at the top too :) A couple that is very dysfunctional wins.  Just goes to show how good Monica and Tonya are at their jobs and they ooze chemistry.  It’s something I haven’t seen between two women in a long time on tv.

My TOP 10 couples of 2021 based on their chemistry.

It's almost the end of this year so it's time for a recap.

I chose 10 couples that I enjoyed in 2021, so let's get started:

1. Jackie & Leslie (Hightown s2) - Both are messy in their own way, but thet are perfect together. I didn't expect to like them so much. Chemistry is incredible. They could stand next to each other and not even look in each other's direction and the chemistry would be better than a lot of couples on TV. I hope the showrunner doesn't screw them up even more in the next season.

2. Gigi & Dani (The L Word: Generation Q s2) - Gen Q is boring as fuck. I had to fast forward many scenes to survive, but Gini scenes are the only thing I can watch over and over again. I blame Gigi for this :)

3. Vi & Caitlyn (Arcane: League of Legends s1) - I don't even like animated series, but I made an exception and I don't regret it. Not only is a fantastic show but Vi and Caitlyn are such a nice surprise. I can't wait for the next season.

4. Haniwa & Wren (See s2) - I really wasn't expecting a f/f couple in season two, and definitely not the main couple. Awesome surprise. On top of that, the writers gave them the most romantic story they could :)

5. Quinn & Isabela (Harlem s1) - Q&I are so adorable together :) Their chemistry is so strong that they didn't even have to kiss to get my attention. I hope for more of them in the next season.

6. Deena & Sam (Fear Street Trilogy) - Normally I wouldn't watch this, because I don't like horror movies, but this one wasn't that scary. Also, f/f as the main couple, that's pretty rare.

7. Sarah & Joline (Van Helsing s5) - I know they don't count as new couple, but I've been waiting for they reunion since 2018, so they should be here.

8. Marla & Fran (I Care a Lot) - None of them are good people, but this list is not about that. Chemistry between them is actually pretty good. But well... we're talking about Rosamund Pike after all, she has chemistry with all women :)

9. Taissa & Simone (Yellowjackets s1) - They may not be at the top of my list, but I'm getting more and more into them. Their kissing scene was really good.

10. Amy & Kirsten (Vigil s1) - I really wish they weren't separated practically the whole season. We only saw flashbacks from the time, when they were a couple.

Storyline to redeem Leslie anyone? It is possible.  I mean, look at what Renee did to Ray, which was worse.  What redeems Leslie?

Backstory needs to happen. Why is she a robot and calculated? Was her father violent towards her when she wasn’t perfect? She definitely needs therapy because she’s emotionally unavailable and her career is her drug.  Some people turn to drugs because of trauma, others turn to OCD and perfectionism. Everyone has a mental health issue they need to work on in some shape or form.

She is redeemable! 

She has to save Jackie somehow.  We need to see her cry and feel something. This whole season, if you watched her facial expressions, she’s been internally fighting feeling emotion.  Watch her watch Jackie at the gymnasium when Jackie is hurting, for a brief second, you can see her being affected, and then turn straight ahead, put a cold stare on her face, and turn back into LeslieBot.  She’s got herself trained to go numb. Jackie has been breaking through it.  It has the makings of a beautiful story of redemption if the writers let it happen. Because she’s broken for a reason too, we just need to see her story.

If they continue to let us fans make up the backstory, it will be one of the biggest wastes of a beautiful chemistry between two characters that I’ve ever seen.

How can a couple be so HOT and so good together, totally ooze so much physical chemistry but break your heart all at the same time. I’ve never experience so many emotions with a couple in my life.

I swear Leslie is a drug for Jackie, both a good one and a bad one.

The title is “Fool Me Twice” and it does seem like it’s setting Jackie and Leslie up for something negative as Leslie did fool her once. I’m hoping they are making it seem that way only to have it be Ray and Renee, and Renee fooling Ray twice....

With the new sneak peak of Hightown 2x10, I am getting really nervous that we will have seen all the positive Jeslie content before the episode airs.

Promo photos have been misleading before, but Leslie looks really mad in that photo with her crutches. If that photo comes after their date, and if Leslie plays a big role in making Jackie feel like a “zero” after something in the investigation goes sideways, I’m gonna be really bummed out.

I can’t be too mad- that scenario would be consistent with the how they’ve presented Leslie’s character. Just really really hoping it’s less predictable or more nuanced than that.
