“God. This malatang place is no joke, seriously. It’s the best one near the company building. You can trust me on this, Jun, like, I might seem like a liar but I actually went on a Naver Maps search and tried all of the malatang places near here, but this place actually tastes the best. I’m excited for you to try it.”
Saebi’s been talking her head off, taking pictures of the bowl that’s been served to her on her phone, only to be met with the sound of silence– the first red flag that she should’ve taken note of. Jun and Saebi keep up with each other when they talk most of the time, which makes this very strange.
Red flag number two: the sound of Jun sucking his breath in, which actually makes Saebi look back up at him and… what the hell? His face is red. She can’t tell if he’s actually crying or if it’s just sweat. “Dude,” Saebi’s speechless, and laughter is stuck in her throat. Honest to God, she can’t tell if it’s appropriate for her to laugh. She’s a little lost. Did Jun get his heart broken, or is it because of the level four spice she’s ordered for him?
Jun sticks his tongue out, and she almost lets out a sigh of relief. Everything’s fine, she thinks, as she watches him gulp down water, back to his usual dramatics. “I think it’s fine if you peel off a layer of skin, actually. Like, skincare. Let’s say goodbye to microneedle pimple patches and hello to malatang.” Saebi jokes pointedly, pulling some tissues from the tissue box next to them to throw at him. It’s to help Jun wipe his face, mostly, but she also appreciates the added element of it– an imitation of her throwing tomatoes at him. “You’ll live! You know, I’m helping you build up your spice tolerance. What if you have to eat spicy food for your next gig? I don’t want you to embarrass yourself! You never know!”
Saebi’s worst fear is taking somebody to her favorite restaurant only for them to think that the food tastes terrible. She’d probably just die on the spot out of like, embarrassment. An emotional death, as Sims 4 calls it. When Saebi envisions her death, she pictures herself surrounded by grandchildren, and a tender lover by her side. I think we’ve been spotted, Jun says, and Saebi comes back to reality. Okay. Everything is not fine. She’ll probably just get crucified by Jun’s fans in a couple of hours if she doesn’t hide.
Saebi sinks in her seat. She watches Jun fix his cap, and she pulls down hers so it’s covering her eyes. Saebi is very aware of how this looks: a Sodapop member with a girl, first of all, but he’s crying, too? “Should we… run?” she proposes. “We barely ate, but like… I don’t think they got any pictures yet. Or you can like, camouflage into the environment. Maybe it’ll look worse if we run, I don’t know. God. Let’s come up with a plan.”
spot! – starter for @jennysaykwa
a hot burning taste – his tongue feels as though it's on fire, his head barely making any sense. he wants to say something, but with every word that attempts to leave his lips, he feels a forceful choke in his throat; something akin to spit.
"saebi..." he says, and he can barely make out his own words. he reaches out for the glass of water, and without much thought chugs it. it takes him about a good few seconds to finally calm down, and only then does he realize that he's tearing up.
he's tearing up in the middle of a restaurant while eating malatang with a friend. when saebi had told him that she enjoyed spicy food, jun had at the very least thought it was a normal humanely amount of spicy. not. this. whatever this is. this sensation on his tongue.
"i think i peeled off a layer of skin," he sticks his tongue out for dramatic effect, and has to take a piece of tissue – afraid that his nose might get watery and run. "when you said you were craving hot food, i didn't think it would kill me," he continues, before he moves to take a bite from his non-spicy-normal-tasting-fries. "we were supposed to catch up, but i can barely talk now!" which is a lie. really. because jun can talk just enough to complain about the spice to saebi. he's always enjoyed this though, being a little bit more than dramatic around her. it's funny.
he stretches his neck, and is about to order something light ( and not as stress inducing ) for himself, when he spots a couple of eyes glancing over his way. oh no – oh shit. quickly, he diverts his gaze away, but he can't unsee it now. a group of girls huddled together at another table, staring at both him and saebi. shit. a sodapop member caught in a restaurant with a girl.
"saebi," he says, fixing his cap in order to cover himself a little bit more. "i think we've been spotted."
#THREAD.#SPOT!#junjulys#thank u for the starterrrrr… ME N SAEBI LOVES UR LOSER ASS JUN.#plz don’t match length… unless

KEEPING TABS with @lieshe
Saebi’s coming out as a serial #KANGSAEBI hashtag tracker, and the general consensus is that her and Lena make a pretty good duo.
Lena and Saebi, Saebi and Lena. Two girls with quirky personalities. Masters of Konglish who seem to bounce off each other when it comes to jokes. Saebi, who makes Lena dote on her like an older sister does. They’ve just started shooting this variety show thing together, and they’re on the same team for games-and-stuff. Obviously, netizens have taken note of this, which just makes Saebi even more enthusiastic to add Lena to her long list of older sister figures.
But then they aren’t on camera, and it’s just the two of them. It’s during scenarios like these that made Saebi realize that their whole dynamic becomes a lot more watered down. It’s hard to figure out, because Lena’s not exactly reserved, nor is she cold. She’s just a little… tense, for lack of a better word. Saebi’s been trying to coax the “real” Lena to come out, tries to make her comfortable, but it doesn’t end up working.
So, Saebi thinks: there’s something seriously up with this girl.
She just doesn’t know what it is. Sure, she knows that idol images are a thing. The Sodapop boys are basically the definition, and she’s close enough with most of them to see how they shift under the boyfriend image that YDH has them under. Hell, even her own personality is amped up for the cameras. It’s something handcrafted, something to make them a little more relatable, a little more likeable– but she looks Lena and doesn’t think that this idol image thing applies to her.
Which naturally just makes Saebi come to the conclusion that she said something wrong. That, or Lena just doesn’t like her. And why the hell would it be the latter?
They’re in one of these situations now, seated in a mirror room and fixing their faces. Saebi, confrontational as always, plays with the pleats of her skirt as she decides how she should say it out loud. “Unnie,” she finally settles on, dragging out the word. “There’s something wrong with you. Like, I don’t know what it is. Your vibes are, like, off whenever we’re not filming. Is something wrong? Did I say something, maybe? Or is it just, like… you?”

Maybe Saebi didn’t sing her lungs out, but she’s pretty tired, too. She’s been Chanmi’s hype girl for her past song, adding in all adlibs, going all out on her attempts to harmonize, cheering for the other girl and occasionally even shaking the tambourine that’s been catching dust in the room of the noraebang. She falls back onto the couch as Chanmi does, letting out a breathy giggle when she sees the other’s bright grin.
Saebi thinks that she’s just Chanmi’s hype girl in general, though. A reason that Saebi started inviting (forcing?) Chanmi out to go to karaoke places with her is because she just really likes hearing her sing. It’s a little hard to, these days, with how busy Chanmi seems to be with schedules and acting and everything, but Saebi will take what she can and consider this as a win. This noraebang thing has gotten to a routine, where she’ll let Chanmi drag her out, too. Even if she’s pretending to be sulky or lazy, she can’t fight a High School Musical song that they’ll end up duetting anyways, so…
“Yeah, unnie, you sounded great!” Saebi responds, a little over the top to the point you’d question her sincerity– but she means it! She nods enthusiastically as she says her words, eyes squinted and a mischievous smile on her lips. “Multiple grammys, I think. My main pop girl.”
And suddenly Chanmi’s voice turns soft again. Saebi knows this version of Chanmi all too well: warm and doting and adoring. She’s pretty sure Chanmi knows the version of her that she’s about to slip in pretty well, too. Maknae-Saebi isn’t a particular idol image, though, just the side of herself that she finds herself slipping into more often than not because 1.) She has Bliss as her leader. Come on. 2.) She’s an only child and she’s getting this care from older girls. “I’m kinda tired, actually, unnie. Like, I feel like the vocal vibrations from your singing hit me just now. Kinda feel like I’m riding Donkey from Shrek. The handsome one, though, like, when they drink that potion?” she exaggerates, talking about whatever, grin prominent.
You’ve got that look, Chanmi says, and yup, she definitely knows maknae-Saebi. Saebi doesn’t really know why she thought otherwise minutes ago, though, because Chanmi is the same girl that’s been in the same trenches she was in. The girl whose shoulders she spent nights crying on over their group and how uncertain their future is. “I wasn’t going to tease you until you said sae-bility,” she tilts her head, half honest. “But now that you did, you’re telling me to, right, unnie? How’d you come up with that?”
Albeit teasing, she takes the bottle from Chanmi’s hand, turning the cap to open it before taking a couple sips. “Thank you,” Saebi tells her, grabbing Chanmi’s hand and squeezing it. It might be silly, but she allows herself to be taken care of like this when she’s with Nymth. “Chanmi-unnie, you know what we should do?” A pause. “Let’s come up with a list of karaoke songs. Just so when we come back here again, just us or with the other members, we won’t waste the hour finding songs to pick, you know.”
with @jennysaykwa
the neon lights flickered softly as the final note of the song faded, leaving a momentary silence in the small room. chanmi let out an exaggerated, breathless sigh, lowering the microphone with dramatic flair as if she’d just wrapped up the performance of a lifetime. “and that’s how you do it,” she declared with a bright grin, plopping onto the couch and letting her head fall back against the cushions. her cheeks were flushed, her breath uneven, but the thrill of singing still danced in her veins, energizing her.
she reached for a water bottle as her gaze flicked to the blinking karaoke screen. it lingered there for a moment before shifting to her companion, her smile widening. “well?” she asked, leaning forward slightly full of expectation. how did i do? i have a grammy-winning voice, right? be honest, but not too honest,” she added with a playful tilt of her head. despite the teasing lilt in her words, the glint of pride in her eyes made it obvious she was fishing for compliments. chanmi tilted the bottle toward saebi, offering it as though saebi had been the one to pour their heart into the song.
“you’re good, right? comfortable? do you need anything?” she asked softly, her playful tone melting into something warmer, almost maternal. it always came naturally to her, this instinct to look after saebi. there were so many parallels between her younger sister and saebi, and for years their sibling-like dynamic had made it second nature for chanmi to fuss over her. her brow furrowed slightly as she leaned closer, her focus entirely on her companion. all of her logic seemed to vanish when saebi was involved; everything else could wait until she was sure saebi was happy and didn’t need a thing.
chanmi's fingers idly tapped against the water bottle in her lap, though her gaze never left saebi. “you’ve got that look,” she said after a beat, her tone light but curious. “like you’re about to tease me and i want to say, ‘don’t even think about it,’ but who am i kidding? i couldn’t stop you if i tried.” she let out a small laugh, her smile softening as her words trailed off. “unless... i’m wrong and that’s not what that look is, but i really doubt my sae-bility is broken.”
she shifted the bottle in her hand, pressing it closer with a small, encouraging smile. “here,” she said, her voice gentle but insistent. “drink some before it’s your turn. need to keep those vocal cords in top shape. or...” her lips curled into a mischievous grin as her playful energy returned. “we could take a break first. catch our breath. but either way, you’re definitely singing something before we leave. i’m owed my duet.”

hello! val again, who’s writing for yuchan @mymontage and seowon @virtuepoint presenting to you 3/3: kang saebi, nymth’s blue & maknae, who just has this jennysaykwa about her… like this post to plot, and i’ll send you a message! ims and discord are both ok! btw this acc is a sideblog along w seowon’s!!
her parents are well off, and saebi’s been enrolled into ballet lessons since she’s learned how to walk. not royal school of ballet level tho, just. ballerina!
and as far as ur concerned, saebi is literally just a normal girl! she has a close group of friends, she does okay in her classes, she’s happy and bright and normal. was really interested in the humanities, but also wants to make money. her ballet classes was just something she had to go to every wednesday, and it’s just a hobby!
it’s in eleventh grade when her group of friends are lockin in on their future, and saebi doesn’t know what to do. she wishes that she could just live in these teenage years forever, but that’s not possible. saebi falls back into dancing.
contemporary dance classes are added to her usual ballet classes. she’s good at dancing, and she’s gonna do something about it. saebi auditions to ninety9 creative and kevin yoon thinks that her vocal colors are interesting enough, and her voice cracks isn’t something that can’t be fixed with a couple years of training.
everything is fixed and soon enough she’s debuting! it’s going great and then it’s not, and she didn’t know that nymth was going to be in the trenches for a long while.
i think bc of that she’s rly childish now and fits the maknae thing rly well. saebi grew up in the industry, basically, so she didn’t get to Live her Life. she’s sensitive and teasing and wants to be perceived as a good time. idk if yall have seen bottoms but she reminds me a lot of pj. female greg heffleys. self righteous and defensive and quick w her emotions.
wcs
yapperssss… she’s rly chatty and easygoing, so when u match her freak regarding that, it’s like playing ping pong. just going back and forth and back and forth and people are like what?
on the contrary, ppl who find her annoying!! maybe they’re rly mature and their personalities are so opposing so whenever u talk to her, ur like… wtf is this girl fucking on
ninety9 creative friends/family/cousin twice removed. i’d really like mentor figures n sibling figures bc she’s an only child. ppl who danced w her in the ninety9 studio until now on the ninety9 floor of the midas building. helped her out with choreographing and gives her honest feedback, even if she’s gonna be sulky about it for 5 secs.
always has sweets on her, so when she sees u look a little pale, she hands u a lollipop.
misunderstandings/miscommunication plots i think would work rly well for her bc she’s so quick to her emotions and acts so brashly out of it. let’s brainstorm n discuss tgt…
if there are any other ballet dancers in this joint, hmu. i rly feel like she’s gonna lose these roots bc she’s doing idol dancing now, so she needs friends to help her hone these skills! it can go both ways, too!
