Ok so remember this map?
A complete map of Jorvik, with a semi-accurate scale to measure any distance on the island. I’m really proud of it! There is, however, one glaring problem with this map.
WHY IS JORVIK CITY SO SMALL????
I’m sorry but Jorviks capital should not be smaller than middle-of-nowhere ranger town Dundull. The generally accepted minimum population requirements for a city are 50 000 residents. Following the canon map, Jorvik city would need to fit at least 50 000 people in what looks like 2,25 square miles. That would mean Jorvik city houses 22 222 people per square mile, making it the 24th most densely populated city in the WORLD.
Possible? Sure. Likely? Considering the clear inspiration from the way less dense Stockholm, the lack of giant apartment complexes or slum neigbourhoods, which would imply that people live closely together, I’m gonna have to say no.
So how big should Jorvik city be, if the map size is inaccurate? Kind of hard to tell since we can’t see places like Governors Fall or Aideens Plaza on the map.
But there is one place we CAN see.
And if we can use this map, we can measure how long it takes to cross it.
I am very normal about the horse game.
From the barracks to the pier, it takes 38 seconds to cross the map. On a similarly flat surface on Jorvik, we can measure how long Pier 13 actually is, giving us this comparison.
Now, I’m going to show two theories on how big Jorvik City is based on these measurements.
The first one is the most canon-compliant, but also the most ridiculous. By comparing pier 13 to the area outside jorvik stables, we know that pier 13 is ~1 km long. Yes, this is an absolutely massive pier don’t worry about it. Looking at the jorvik city map, we can see that this smaller pier is meant to be to represent Pier 13, and we can do the math from there. Jorvik gets an area of 340 square km, and if we use Stockholms population density as a guide, Jorvik City has about 1,8 million citizens. Cool! One problem though.
You can’t fit it on the map. A city this big would take up almost one fourth of Jorvik, and you’d need to redraw the entire map to make it fit.
So my other option shifts the canon a bit to make the maps fit together. If we go against canon and assume that Pier 13 is actually the larger pier, that downsizes Jorvik City to ~47,5 square kilometres, with a population of around 250 000. This makes Jorvik more comparable to a more densely populated Reykjavik; smaller in area but with double the amount of people. And while it still messes with the coastline a bit, it at least fits into Central Bay.
Personally I think both theories work, but for consistency’s sake, I’m leaning more towards the second theory.

This was my thought exactly... I got some things right away (though, I will admit the mixing and matching didn't work as much as I'd like-- it'd be nice to be able to pick different sets for each part of a bundle too), but even one part is like... more than a week or Star Coins and just everything with Star Coins continues to feel so imbalanced to me.
If this is the price of the early starter stuff, I'm terrified to see what the price may be for later sets.
LOVING THE NEW STABLE UPDATE
but why so expensive..... :c

I'm happy to finally see something different with the Medieval event, but with all the personal stuff going on, I'm not going to be able to log in each day and it just makes me wish we could go all in whenever we want and knock it out in a day or two if we choose :/

Erissa's Dolls - Daily Guide
SO after going back and forth with support, I don't really have true answer about how the daily collection is supposed to work, but I think I've figured out some things.
there are 16 total locations (as detailed in the original quest)
you'll collect 6-8 dolls for the daily
those daily dolls seem to appear in the same spots depending on the day of the week (think like the Pandoric portals in Epona)
each doll grants 75-100 Trailblazer Points
The chart below marks off which dolls are found where on what days. I am hoping its the same for everyone (and that it wont change). If you are more of a map person, I've made daily maps, below the fold!

Trailblazer Track Guide (WIP)
Want the Trailblazer Track rewards but don't have time/can't be bothered to grind for them more than necessary? Then this post is for you, with maximum efficiency in mind.
This post will be edited as things are found. If others find anything useful that's not already on this list, let me know and I'll add it.
The news page also said quests give points but I can't tell if that means yellow-mark quests or not (maxed account OTL).
-
From @aryamistwood :
"The amount of points you earn descend depending on how many tasks you do so: Tasks 1-4 = 100pts each Tasks 5-8 = 75pts each Tasks 9-12 = 50pts each Tasks 13+ = 20pts each +450 points daily in the trailblazer track window
Rune carving DOES grant points as a "task". As do all races, quests, chores, daily horse care, collections like stars, photos, dolls, ect, championships…you get the point.
Completing 12 tasks plus redeeming the 450 daily points gives you 1350pts/day (then you can do more for 20 points a pop, as long as you want for the day)
Getting only 1350pts/day, you can complete the path in 17-18 days."
Gatherables Caveat:
Light Wisps do NOT appear to give points. Gardened plants do NOT appear to give points. Only wild ones do. Glyph Puzzles (stationary) do not appear to give points either. Unsure about that one.
- If you also want to earn a lot of shillings with minimal effort while you're earning points, see this post for various sources of income including day-specific ones.
Go forth and use this knowledge for good.
Also don't forget to do Josh's daily at Starshine Ranch since it also gives rider XP

Reblog [THIS POST] with photo, name and location of your ocs home and I will add them to the map.
This is how the OC map will looks like.

Shout out to people I saw being interested but havent shared their Ocs: @coyote-catcher @lukas-crowsong @sso-moonchild I wasnt sure if you two where interesting in entering your ocs or just interested in the project in general. And people that didnt share their ocs photos, I dont have access to the old file and it isnt easy to find correct photos in the old post so please share photos in the new post: @rora-dolphinheart @yasminewestbank @can-of-pringles @sso-noodlelord
Everyone else that havent rebloged with their ocs but want to, there is still time!! Im not going to continually update this map like I did last time. I will only update if new area opens up.

I love tall horses and I always caught myself googling the height of horses in sso but no one has made a chart or anything other than stating the shire is the biggest. So i took it upon myself to make a size chart (kinda incomplete but idc) going from small breeds to medium and large, they’re all in order from left being smallest to right being the tallest.
I tried to base measure from the withers, like you’re supposed to, but i took some liberties to change around a little on the order, because some breeds are very broad with big necks while others and super narrow with shorter necks
I was also surprised to find out the knabstrupper was so tall??

Gardening pro tip: If you make one of each fertilizer and put them in your closet, the fertilizers in the sowing screen will show 0 fertilizers but you can still use them and since they're in the closet and not in the backpack using them won't actually spend any of them. Unlimited fertilizer.

In general, I've more or less ended up taking a hiatus from SSO and I feel like I'll likely only end up popping back in if:
There is a new story update
Something to help with the grinding happens
In general, it's not a game I have the time to put in and, in some cases, what I need to do to 'succeed' I'm not really fond of (Like... taking shortcuts in championships because the entire thing is PvP based).
I've struggled with the reputation grind since I started playing and have only gotten more and more burnt out on it.
The story just... constantly being redone too doesn't really help, but I think what really got me is how overly grindy the events have been and seeing how the Christmas one was just fully burnt me out.
Seeing more grind with the new Hollow Woods stuff and I just... I just want to play the story (but that includes side stories) and not have to do the same stupid quest every single day for weeks to slowly build up my reputation.

Here's an arrangement I'm using on the six-slot mounds to maximize contact between plants that give you a chance to grow rare flowers.
Next I'm going to mix in some chamomile touching the bee balm as well so I can grow both types of rare flowers on one mound.

Me when I already struggle with repetitive stuff and see the new features for the Hollow Wood
#At this point I long know I am the exception#But as someone who plays a lot of casual games I am so tired of farming and crafting constantly being added to them#I've never been fond of crafting and farming/gardening I preferred like.... Harvest Moon#But god I am so tired of this trend#I get that it's ''optional'' but without an alternate way to earn the things from it and/or still see the story it doesn't feel that way

I know we always talk about MC being the fifth wheel among the Soul Riders, but... do you think Anne ever feels like it's actually her? She was missing for at least a few months, going by canon, and in the meantime, her three best friends found someone else to save the world with who's about as competent as the four of them combined - and the four of them have been saving the world together since shortly after she disappeared. Imagine if she found out what Fripp said days after meeting MC - that they don't need her, just four Soul Riders of which one is proficient in the Sun Circle. Do you think, maybe, that she has found out? (Damn Fripp, damn the Druids, and damn Aideen?) Not to mention that while she was gone, her horse died and then came back as a foal - something extremely upsetting all in its own right - and very nearly bonded with the Soul Rider of the Sun Circle that came before Anne. (Does she know about that..?)
Anyway, what I'm saying is like. Anne is realistically already struggling with a need to always come out on top - take one look at her childhood and teenagehood and tell me I'm wrong. I don't think she finds it's the greatest thing in the world that a complete stranger has, at least in her perception of the eyes of the Druids, taken her place - best-case scenario, only in the Druids' mission to save Jorvik, and worst-case scenario, as the fourth member of the Soul Riders not only in mission, but in friendship and in sisterhood. All of these people have gone through so much and she hasn't been there to see any of it, because she was stuck in a crystal in a parallel dimension that both causes you to lose track of reality and time and not only can, but will, physically harm you to the point of threatening your life. Quite frankly, it's a miracle she's standing and walking and talking and not losing her absolute shit. Her actions may not be good, or rational, but she's handling this so well that I feel like she honestly just has yet to crack.
