Absolutely lie if you need to. This thread and the ad reminded me how my conservative parents refused to take me to absentee vote when I was in college because they knew I wasn't going to vote GOP. It was the first time I was old enough to vote, and I didn't have a car. My grandmother took me so I could vote before I went back to school. This was over 30 years ago!
If your family members or others with power over you are trying to police your vote, that should tell you a lot about them and the party they want to force you to support.
From the October 31, 2024 article:
“In the one place in America where women still have a right to choose, you can vote any way you want. And no one will ever know,” Roberts says in the ad as a woman on screen meets up with her husband after casting her ballot for Harris.
The voter winks at a fellow female voter as her husband asks if she made the “right choice.”
Republicans have responded to the video with outrage, with some claiming that a wife lying about her vote is as bad as an affair.
“If I found out Emma was going to the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that’s the same thing as having an affair,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said on air Wednesday in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.
Other GOP members including Charlie Kirk said the thought was “nauseating.”

One of my favorite aspects of Star Trek Lower Decks is actually giving some focus to the Orions.
The Orions are very much like the Klingons in that the original series just kinda made them up as a fit for purpose antagonist species, but while Klingons had their warrior culture thoroughly explored and given more nuance in Next Generation through episodes centering on Worf, the Orions were mostly forgotten. To be fair, this was probably because the concept of "sexy green matriarchal space pirates who use pheromones to control men" sounded pretty embarrassing in hindsight.
But with Lower Decks having Tendi on the main cast, we finally actually build on one of Star Trek's oldest minor species. And because it's a comedy show, rather than adapting the silly 70's ass space pirate matriarchs into something more sensible, they just play their culture entirely straight. It's a lot of fun. They're squeezing a LOT of Orion centric episodes into this show before it's over, you can really tell they're having fun with it.

Spooky LEGO Creations for Halloween! 🎃👻
Tumblr media
Hey LEGO fans! 👋
With Halloween just around the corner, I looked through my old photos to see what I could share today on this theme. In the end, I didn't feel like bringing them out again; probably because my graphic style has evolved, and also because, I hope, my technique has evolved too! 📷
And so I preferred to do a small series again, using (and abusing) the UV lamp and the Neoncolored parts that react with it for bizarre stagings 🦇🦉

So, I’m excited to share a mini-series of LEGO pics celebrating all things spooky! From eerie creatures to haunted settings, these iconic Halloween characters are reimagined in brick form, adding a playful twist to the chills.🕸️🕷️

Follow along as I share more photos leading up to Halloween. Let’s get spooky with some bricks! 🎃💀
