mouthwashing trending has been an engaging catalyst to a productive degree as it really sets the tone for players to be receptive to nuances. it’s allowed people to resonate with the struggles of SA victims as well as the notion of “it takes a village to keep a perpetrator accountable” as my therapist has so lovingly taught me.
i use this phrase because it applies to a myriad of social dynamics as well; it’s quite literally what it is. the inaction/complacency of others minimizes the efforts of victims trying to speak up and despite “seeing the best” in others, the one’s who inevitably do so only perpetuate their behavior by actively choosing to justify/see the good.
before i lose track, it’s been refreshing to know that many players are taking away the various “lessons”, for lack of a better word, from the game. it gives some semblance of hope that society can be receptive to the stories and survivors of SA. i’ve also come to really appreciate the sensitivity in naming the perpetrator, as individuals such as them don’t even deserve a name, and in real life, can often be a massive trigger for survivors.
so yeah, that’s about it. shoutout to those devs. and to the players that really got it, ‘cause you all contribute to the safety of people like us who feel like our safeguard is being gambled with.
thanks for reading if you got this far <3
