one thing i didn't know about nader, who runs the account @abdalsalam1990 to promote the corresponding gofundme for his older brother abd al salam, is that his father currently has cancer. can you imagine being 17 years old, under siege with a one year-old niece suffering from malnutrition, and trying not to get murdered by israel like your cousin and uncle were, knowing that your father's cancer can't be treated because of how costly it is? i'm 29 and i know i can't imagine that. but for nader, this is real. this is his life.

he's doing his best to ask around for help. but he needs all the help he can get. as everyone should know by now, the costs of basic necessities in gaza have been inflated to an extreme degree. people like to imagine that in a crisis situation, supply and demand would no longer apply, capitalists would give resources away, and people would be cared for. that's simply not the reality. many people in gaza live in tents, but those who don't still pay exorbitant rents for bombed-out apartments. the cost of any food at all, even if it's rotten, is exorbitant. and cancer treatment is expensive. nader and his family have to deal with all of this while trying to save up what they can in hopes that the rafah crossing will re-open and they'll be able to evacuate.

My name is Mohammed from Gaza. I used to own three barbecue and meat restaurants on Al-Nasr Street in Gaza. I got married three months before the war, and my wife had a design and editing training company. Our house was completely destroyed, along with my three businesses and my wife’s company, which were leveled to the ground. I was directly injured by Israeli airstrikes, and we lost everything. We no longer have any source of income or livelihood. Now, my wife is pregnant with our first child and suffers from malnutrition.

Danger and death have surrounded us for a year and two months. We have been displaced and have lived in tents more than 11 times. We rely on donations to survive and escape death and genocide. We are considering traveling abroad, but we are far from achieving that goal. The cost of living, food, and water increases daily. Then he walks for miles sometimes to talk to and verify Palestinian families’ campaigns when he’s off work. This has been his reality for the past few months.

Grimmway Farms has issued a recall of select organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots that should no longer be in grocery stores but may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. These products may have been contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli) O121:H19. E. coli O121:H19 is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and those with a weakened immune system. Some infections can cause severe bloody diarrhea conditions, such as a hemolytic uremic syndrome, or the development of high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, and neurologic problems. Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. The incubation period for E. coli O121:H19 in humans can range from 24 hours to as much as ten days. The average incubation period is 3 to 4 days.

The following recalled products were shipped directly to retail distribution centers nationwide in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada: - Organic whole carrots, which do not have a best-if-used-by date printed on the bag, but were available for purchase at retail stores from August 14 through October 23, 2024, - Organic baby carrots with best-if-used-by-dates ranging from September 11 through November 12, 2024.
