Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered Is NOT FREE, Sold as Standalone Game
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be sold as a standalone title, according to a now-deleted listing by retailer GameFly.
The remastered version of the fourth title in the series is currently only available for owners of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare legacy edition, a decision which was met with discontent from fans. Activision never stated it wouldn’t sell Modern Warfare Remastered separately, however a lack of clarity surrounding the issue led many to believe this was the case.
In the post by CharlieIntel, GameFly listed the standalone release date as June 20th for the PlayStation 4 and July 20th for all other versions: this would make sense considering an agreement between Sony and Activision has meant the game’s DLC has released a month earlier on the PS4 than on Xbox One and PC.
Since Activision are yet to confirm its release, there is no official price for a separate Modern Warfare Remastered. It would be unlikely if it launched as a full-price title, however.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered includes the same campaign and multiplayer maps as the originally version, but with improved graphics and online play.
Would you buy Modern Warfare Remastered if it was sold as a standalone game? Did you pay for Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition and feel aggrieved that Activision might sell it separately? Let us know in the comments section below.

Demand for Switch So High Nintendo Has to Fly It
Nintendo countered lack of supply for its latest console, the Switch, by flying units across the world, despite the huge increase in cost.
Sales of Nintendo’s latest console surprise everybody, including the Kyoto-based company itself. The fastest-selling console of all time, even ahead of the Nintendo Wii which itself sold over 100 million units, 2.73 million Switch consoles were shipped as of March 31st. Nintendo planned to ship two million by the same date.
The company generally deals with overseas supply by freight, however because of the sheer demand this time around, it decided to take the much more expensive aerial route, the Wall Street Journal reports. This increased the cost per unit by 5,000 Yen, or £35 ($45).
It’s unsurprising that Nintendo had to go to such lengths to increase international supply for its console. It’s assumed in the Wall Street Journal that Europe and North America were the locations which required the more expensive and immediate logistics, both areas that have seen huge demand for the console.
Nintendo is expecting to ship 10 million Switch units by the end of the next fiscal year, which is March 31st 2018. With the worldwide shortages in retailers, it’s likely that the sales figures are close to the 2.73 million shipped.
Have you managed to get your hands on a Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments section below.

New PlayStation 5 to Release 2018, Analyst Says
Sony could release a new PlayStation in late 2018, Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong believes.
The PlayStation 4 is well ahead in the console race as it was confirmed last week that 60 million units have been shipped since it was launched four years ago. Whilst there are no recent figures on Xbox One sales, it’s expected that Microsoft have sold half, if not less, of what Sony has with its current generation console.
It seems unlikely, then, that the Japan-based console giant would feel the need to launch a new system. Xbox Scorpio is expected to release later this year, and whilst it will be the most powerful console ever made, it remains to be seen whether or not it can claw back the 30+ million users that the PS4 has on it. The PlayStation Pro also released just last year, and a two year cycle could leave many fans turning their back on a company which used to produce new systems ever 7-8 years.
Yet Damian Thong is an industry expert, and accurately predicted the release of the PS4 Slim and PS Pro, so his point is certainly one to be taken seriously.
So what would Sony’s next console be if it were to release next year? An obvious answer is the PlayStation 5: a brand new console generation to combat Microsoft’s Project Scorpio and Nintendo’s marching Switch. An alternative is to follow the same route as the Xbox team, and throw away the idea of standard console generations and provide players with continuous updates in the PlayStation family. Either way, Sony aren’t likely to please fans so soon after the release of the Pro.
Even if Thong’s predictions are true, we likely won’t hear anything about it until E3 next year, so it’s a waiting game until then.
Would you buy a new PlayStation console next year? Let us know in the comments section below.

Free Prey Demo Available on PS4 and Xbox One Now
A free demo of Prey is now available to download on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, allowing players to experience the first hour of the game.
Prey is Arkane Studios’ latest game, and although it is a reboot of the 2006 game of the same name, this title seems more a spiritual successor to the System Shock and Bioshock series’ than anything else.
Taking place on a research facility in space, players take the role of scientist Morgan Wu, a male or female depending on the player’s preference (an option which is also available in the demo). The spaceship is awash with aliens, however, and so it’s your role to make sure they don’t take over the whole facility and make it back to planet Earth.
The game launches Friday 5th May on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, however Arkane Studios decided not to give PC users access to the first hour. Polygon contacted the developer and its response was: We appreciate the enthusiasm in the PC community for Prey, and the interest in a PC demo. The team at Arkane has been fully focused on optimizing and finalizing the PC version of the game. We aim to deliver the best PC experience to our fans — and are hard at work to do just that.”

Nintendo Unveils 2DS XL
Nintendo has unveiled its latest console in development – the 2DS XL – just months after the release of its fastest selling console of all time, the Nintendo Switch.
youtube
It will be another inclusion to the 3DS family, following the original console itself, the 2DS, and the 3DS XL. Similarly to the 3DS variants, the 2DS XL will feature a clamshell design to split the main LCD screen and touch screen, but will not sport 3D visuals.
Two colours will be available, black and turquoise or white and orange, and it will take the second C-Pad, amiibo support, and improved capabilities from its 3DS XL sibling.
The console will release on July 28th, unsurprisingly the same day as three major software releases. It was recently announced that Hey! Pikmin, Miitopia, and Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focussed will also release on the same day.
At $149 the 2DS XL is more affordable than the 3DS XL, so will serve as a good option for those who aren’t interested in the latter’s 3D capabilities but don’t agree with the solid, blocked design of the 2DS.
Will you be picking up a 2DS XL? Let us know in the comments section below.

PS4 Reaches 60 Million Shipped
Sony has shipped 60 million PlayStation 4 consoles to date, as it released its earnings for the last fiscal year (April 1st 2016 to May 31st 2017).
The video gaming giant shipped 2.9 million consoles over the last three months of the fiscal year, 0.6 million more than over the same period last year. In total 20 million consoles were shipped over the whole last fiscal year, up from 17.7 during the previous one. Whilst this doesn’t represent the exact number of PS4 consoles sold, the fact that as of January 1st 53.4 million had been purchased shows it wouldn’t be too far off the shipment figures.
The company is expecting to ship less this fiscal year, but the 18 million forecast would still put the total figure at 78 million. The PlayStation 3 shipped around 80 million units, so the current generation’s console is catching up quickly. There’s no doubt that Sony will have its eyes on the magic 100 that its first two systems achieved.
Game and Network Services, the company’s PlayStation division, saw a 6.3% increase in revenue to $14.73 billion even though console prices have fallen, mainly due to the increase in hardware and software sales. Operating income for the gaming division rose to $1.21 billion even though it fell to $2.57 billion throughout the company as a whole.
The full financial report is here.
Do you think Sony will manage to hit over 100 million consoles shipped? Let us know in the comments section below.

Red Dead Redemption GTA V Mod Forced to Shut Down
A promising and ambitious Grand Theft Auto V mod of the Red Dead Redemption map ported inside the GTA V engine has been shut down, three years into its production.
The leader of the project, Mr. Leisurewear, successfully managed to reverse engineer the majority of Red Dead Redemption’s map, making it playable within GTA V’s engine. Screenshots released several months ago increased fan excitement, and the first trailer for the mod, released Friday 21st April, showed the port to be a reality.
youtube
However, Mr. Leisurewear took to gtaforums to explain that the mod has been forced to shut down.
“I know this is hard pill to swallow, but as you may have noticed we did get contacted, and we sadly have to say we are stopping this project. So thanks guys, we were all so happy to see this, but it isn’t going to happen, sorry :/ :/ :/”
Whilst it remains unclear exactly who contacted the programmer, it seems likely that either Rockstar or its parent company, Take Two, stepped into due to legal issues. As its intellectual property, both companies would have the right to protect Red Dead Redemption and the game it was being ported into, Grand Theft Auto V. With Red Dead Redemption 2 on track to release later this year, it’s also likely that they saw the mod as an unwelcome distraction.
It looks as though fans will have to wait for the official sequel now, which is expected to release in October of this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
What do you think of the ambitious mod being shut down? Let us know in the comments section below.

Call of Duty: World War 2 Revealed
The next game in the Call of Duty series will be World War 2, Activision has announced, following weeks of speculation.
The game will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, co-creators of Modern Warfare 3 and developers of the critically acclaimed Advanced Warfare. Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey had previous expressed an interest in the setting, saying: “A next generation game with the latest production values and robustness in a World War 2 setting like Band of Brothers would be amazing”.
via vg247.com
The last Call of Duty to be set in World War 2 was Treyarch’s World at War, and since then the series has taken a futuristic turn, much to the disdain of many fans. The original three games were based during the Second World War, so a statement from Activision confirming that the franchise would be heading “back to its roots” led many to believe a trip back in time was on the cards.
Artwork of the game’s setting has since been released and a livestream on Wednesday 26th April will show more about the game. GameAddik will have more news following the reveal.
What do you think about the Call of Duty series heading back to World War 2? Let us know in comments section below.

Nintendo Making SNES Mini, Releases Christmas
There may be a second Nintendo emulation console in the works following the success of the NES Mini, called – yeah, you guessed it – the Mini SNES Classic. Nintendo’s micro 8-bit system will jump up a generation to 16-bit, and with it some of the best-loved video games of all time.
Last week Nintendo announced that it will be discontinuing the Mini NES Classic (or whatever it’s called), much to the dismay of fans who haven’t been able to grab one since its Christmas release last year. Many who were desperate to pick one up were forced to do so through second-hand sites like eBay, often paying over four times the original price.
Nintendo then confirmed the console was never meant to be continuously sold, and that it only released new batches earlier this year to meet the demand. Now it seems as though one major reason for this short-term plan was to make room for the Mini SNES Classic later on this year. Sources close to Eurogamer believe that the console is set for a Christmas 2017 release.
youtube
Not much else is known as of yet, but considering the Classic NES Mini came with 30 great games, including Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid, we can expect some 16-bit classics to be boxed in to the SNES version. The original console was home to some of the greatest games in history, most notably The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario World. Other games we can only hope will be on the system are Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, Super Metroid, Super Mario Kart, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3, Final Fantasy VI, and Super Mario RPG.
The Mini SNES is expected to adopt the same plug-and-play style as its predecessor, with a set number of pre-installed games.
Will you be picking up a Mini SNES Classic if or when it releases? If so, which games would you like to see installed? Let us know in the comments section below.

Project Scorpio: Everything We Know So Far
Microsoft surprised everyone a few weeks ago by releasing the specs for their latest console, Project Scorpio. Since then the company has announced small pockets of information here and there, gradually giving us a bigger picture as to what to expect from its new system. Whilst there are still some key questions that need answering, a huge bulk of details are known about, importantly, what will be going on inside of the console. To help you understand things a little bit better, we’ve got everything you need to know about Scorpio here.
Performance
What matters most is what’s underneath the exterior, and luckily for us Microsoft revealed some pretty important details through Digital Foundry. Among the specs were:
CPU – eight-core 2.3GHz Processor
GPU – 40 compute units at 1172MHz
RAM – 12GB GDDR5
Bandwidth – 326 GB/s
Storage – 1TB
Disc – UHD Blu-Ray player
Sound – Dolby Atmos
A lot of this might not make much sense, but it essentially makes Project Scorpio the most powerful console of all time: certainly the closest we’ve seen one get to a PC’s capabilities. In terms of its graphical potential it packs in 6 teraflops of power, which is still less than the 9 teraflops of high-end PC cards, but very high for a compact console. This is measured by the system’s GPU, of which Scorpio has 40 AMD Radeon compute units running at 1172MHz. Xbox One runs off of 12 GCN compute units, making Microsoft’s new console 4.6 times more powerful.
The Xbox One CPU had eight Jaguar cores running at 1.7GHz compared to Scorpio’s custom x86 cores at 2.3GHz. To those who aren’t tech-savvy, the Central Processing Unit is the brains behind most things going on in your console, allowing for those 6 teraflops of graphics potential to become reality, and making the system faster and more capable of bigger tasks. The fact that the x86 is over 30% faster than Xbox One’s Jaguar core highlights this potential.
4GB RAM will be used for the operating system and the rest shared between the CPU and GPU, although more is reserved for the latter. The GDDR5 is a huge upgrade from Xbox One’s GDDR3. The 326 GB/s bandwidth will help increase the number of pixels you can see on screen, as well as make sure frame rate stays at a steady constant.
The 1TB hard drive is an improvement on what the Xbox One launched with, but will probably be necessary considering Scorpio’s files should be bigger in size. The Ultra HD Blu-Ray player isn’t a surprise either, and will allow users to watch DVDs in 4K. Dolby Atmos support will allow for spatial surround sound that can even be noticed with headphones in.
Scorpio will be the first console that supports adaptive frame-rate technology called FreeSync. Current consoles use V-Sync in an attempt to prevent screen tears when frame rates drop from 60 to 30, but this can often lead to lag. FreeSync is a new technology which will eliminate any issues with frame rate, however it won’t be available just yet: the technology requires HDMI 2.1 which the majority of people don’t have access to.
If you’re excited about Scorpio but don’t yet have a 4K television then don’t fret. The console will come with customisable graphics settings for all displays, meaning it can downscale to 1080p. This won’t even be to the detriment of the visuals, in fact quite the opposite: Project Scorpio downscaling will look better than 1080p on your Xbox One.
All in all the Project Scorpio specs are painting the picture of an extremely powerful console.
Games
Source: Eurogamer – Forza Motorsport. 4K, 60fps, Xbox One quality settings with 4K assets. GPU utilisation is at 66.19 per cent, meaning there’s a huge amount of overhead left over for improving visuals still further. Click on the thumbnail for a higher resolution image.
It looks almost certain that you’ll be able to play every one of your Xbox One titles on Project Scorpio; Forza Motorsport 6 even demonstrated the system’s capabilities in front of the eagle-eyed Digital Foundry team. When it did so it showed it in stunning 4K resolution, but didn’t even break a sweat at just over 60% power usage. It could be likely, then, that previous Xbox One titles can be scaled to 4K on your Scorpio, an exciting prospect.
At the moment Microsoft has said that there won’t be any Scorpio exclusives, but at the same time hasn’t ruled out any third-party developers deciding to take matters into their own hands. It seems unlikely that anyone would narrow their audience down to just Scorpio owners, so it’s looking all-inclusive for the Xbox family at the moment.
In terms of games we can expect to showcase the system early on, here’s a list of confirmed titles:
Forza Motorsport 7
Crackdown 3
State of Decay 2
Call of Duty
FIFA
Madden
Battlefront 2
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Red Dead Redemption 2
The idea of seeing these games in 4K is mouth-watering, and if the non-native 4K Forza 6 looked that good, these games should look unbelievable.

What happened to Couch Co-Op?
This post was originally published on Doctors of Gaming.
Before the internet, cell phones, and Facebook, before Skype, MMORPGS, and VOIP, those of us from the dark age would actually go to each other’s house to play video games together.
All joking aside, and, yes, I realize that the concept of in-person communication being overshadowed by social media and digital communication is not a new one, how many of us really miss the days of couch co-op? I especially realized how much I missed it this past month when I participated in an in-person Overwatch tournament. Instead of my teammates being some nebulous entity with a sly gamer tag and witty voice, my teammates were just actual people, much like teammates on a sports team.
This discussion begs the question “how much of it is adulthood getting in the way of ‘hanging out’ and how much of it is a cultural shift”. It is certainly a little bit of both, but let’s talk about the current landscape for social gaming. My significant other and I met over two years ago, and one of the things we both love doing is playing video games. Naturally, we wanted to play together, but we were surprised at the dearth of games that actually supported split screen or any sort of couch co-op. One look at co-optimus.com and you will see what I mean.
We eventually settled on Borderlands (a GREAT game), but I remember a time and place when it wasn’t hard at all to find a game to play with friends in person. After Borderlands, I bought Halo 5, assuming the age-old split screen would be present. To me, Halo represents one of the strongest franchises in couch co-op history. We scoured the internet for hours for answers on why split screen did not exist for Halo 5. We were in denial, and that’s when I knew that it wasn’t just adulthood; things have definitely changed.
Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE online gameplay. The level of competitive play is super addicting and a blast. But sometimes I really do want to just sit in an armchair and play with a friend, away from the large sea of the internet. If the 8-bit NES could accomplish this, why can’t the current generation of consoles do so?
Maybe it’s demand. Gaming will always be an industry that centers on younger crowds, and it does seem as though the teenage group of gamers are fully adapted to the digital age. What developers are forgetting, though, is that there is still a large cohort of us that have maintained our passion for gaming, and a new couch co-op classic could be a huge hit.
For now, I won’t hold my breath, and will gladly continue to play Overwatch. I would go to Blockbuster to rent a movie, but it seems those don’t exist anymore either (kappa).
Agree or disagree? Let us know!

PlayStation PR Vs. Project Scorpio: Who Wins?
The release of Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro last year and the launch of Microsoft’s Project Scorpio later in 2017 are unique in that they seem to have thrown away the traditional idea of console generations. The PS4 Pro is an upgraded, much more powerful version of the PS4, but for all we know Scorpio could turn out to be a console separate from Xbox One completely.
Now that we know more about Project Scorpio, it’s easier to compare it to its rival machine. The more we do so, however, the more it becomes obvious that this may not be the Sony vs Microsoft head to head that we’ve come to expect over the last decade.
Price
The PlayStation 4 Pro launched at £349.99 ($400), the same as the PS4 and Xbox One when they first released. Considering the specs (which we’ll get to later) Sony’s console represents very good value for money, with 4K compatibility coupled with the Boost Mode that arrived with update 4.50.
Microsoft have been quiet on Project Scorpio’s price, although looking at the technology inside it will likely be around the £500 ($600) mark. Considering it contains similar specs to a mid-range PC, most experts aren’t expecting it to go much lower than that price. If this is the case, £150 is an extremely big price gap for most people.
CPU
PS4 Pro – eight-core 2.13 GHz processor
Scorpio – eight-core 2.30 GHz processor
PlayStation Pro runs at 2.13 GHz compared to the PS4’s 1.6, making it much faster than the vanilla console. Sony decided to stick with the 8-core Jaguar CPU, which many feel is holding the console back.
Scorpio on the other hand uses a custom x86 CPU clocking at 2.3GHz. Xbox One uses the same Jaguar CPU as PS4 Pro at 1.7GHz, and Scorpio manages to be over 30% faster. The differences between Scorpio and the Pro may not seem like much, but it will help when it comes to graphic capabilities.
GPU
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry
PS4 Pro – 4.12 Teraflops, 8GB GDDR5 RAM, 218 GB/s Bandwidth
Scorpio – 6 Teraflops, 12GB GDDR5 RAM, 326 GB/s Bandwidth
Teraflops are a measure of the overall graphical potential of a console, of which Scorpio has 6 compared to PS Pro’s 4.12. This is a massive difference, and shows that the biggest gap between both consoles from a hardware perspective will be graphics. Just to put Scorpio’s potential into perspective, a mid to high-range PC can achieve around 6 teraflops, with the most expensive reaching 9. It’s the closest we’ve seen to a PC in a console so far.
Scorpio’s 12GB of GDDR5 RAM is an upgrade on the 8GB packed inside PlayStation Pro, although t’s not entirely clear how this will be divided. It also beats the Pro on bandwidth by 326 GB/s to 218 GB/s, which will allow higher pixel count and frame rate for the RAM to store. 4GB more memory and over 100 GB/s faster bandwidth will make for much better looking games.
You will definitely be able to notice the difference graphically between Project Scorpio and PlayStation Pro, and that could be Microsoft’s trump card.
4K
With Scorpio packing in more power it seems inevitable that 4K will look nice on Microsoft’s system. But what about the games which aren’t native 4K? The Pro already has the aforementioned Boost Mode available to owners after update 4.50, which does a good job of making non-native UHD games look better. Scorpio will have this trick up its sleeve too however, and will upscale games even better with its increased power.
Even more importantly, Scorpio will boast adaptive frame-rate technology called FreeSync, previously only used in PCs. This will prevent tears and tag from happening when frame rates frop from 60 to 30, which will be especially useful when 4K is applied. The only downside is that USB 2.1 is required, which many people don’t have access to, but when they do, it will give Microsoft the edge.
Games
It’s no secret that Sony has the best exclusive titles, and has done for some time. Graphical capabilities can count for a lot, but without the experience of a great game to showcase them off they slowly become unimportant. However, with the biggest titles this year looking set to be cross-platform, things might not be as clear cut when Scorpio launches.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, FIFA, and Madden will release on both platforms, and will look even better on Scorpio. Xbox owners won’t have access to exclusives like Uncharted 4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn, but the future looks equal and bright for both parties.
The advantage Project Scorpio does have over PlayStation Pro is backwards compatibility. Not every Xbox 360 game can function on current generation consoles, but the list continues to increase. With Microsoft looking to get rid of the concept of console generations altogether, it’s likely that all games could be playable on Scorpio and all other future consoles. Sony does have a paid subscription service in PlayStation Now, but that’s no use to all the owners of dozens of PlayStation 3 titles.
This all said, Sony still reigns supreme in terms of games. With certain titles like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spider-Man released later this year, PlayStation owners have a lot to look forward to. Developers such as Naughty Dog have been working exclusively with the company for decades, and you can guarantee The Last of Us 2 won’t end that relationship. Sony even have FromSoftware on board, and Bloodborne has proven to be one of the finest titles on the system. It’s a close call, but PlayStation Pro has to win in the games department.
Virtual Reality

Sony’s PlayStation VR sold at a pace not even its bosses thought it would. It’s proven to be the most affordable way to get a mid-range virtual reality experience, and the fact that the PlayStation 4 has sold as well as it has didn’t hurt either.
Microsoft don’t have their own headset, and don’t plan to release one until at least 2018. This could be a big sticking point for Scorpio, a system which does have the capabilities, but just not the relevant hardware. If owners want to use VR then they have to turn to the high-end market of Oculus and HTC Vive, making an all-inclusive package looking ridiculously expensive.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer believes the technology isn’t there yet, but there’s no doubt that people are ready for VR. Sony knew that and are reaping the rewards, so the decision not to develop an affordable, exclusive headset could come back to haunt Microsoft.
Result
Sony and Microsoft are both targeting different audiences, that much is certain. PlayStation Pro gives people an affordable way into UHD gaming, and whilst it may not be the full package it allows people to have a taste for what 4K can offer. Scorpio, on the other hand, is looking to appeal to buyers of higher-end technology, perhaps those who are already interested in PC gaming. It’s undoubtedly the most powerful console ever made, but this of course comes at a much higher cost. For now, most casual console gamers would probably be happy with what the PS Pro offers, and can more than likely expect a slight price drop mysteriously around the same time Scorpio releases.
What do you think about PlayStation 4 Pro and Project Scorpio? Let us know in the comments section below.

History repeats itself as the Variety Map Pack releases for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on Xbox One and PC.
The DLC includes four classic maps: Killhouse, Creek, Broadcast, and Chinatown, all of which first featured in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. As with the other maps in the Remastered edition, the graphics will be updated from the 2008 original, but will remain relatively intact in all other aspects.
At £11.59 ($14.99) players will have access to all four multiplayer maps, as well as ten Rare Supply Drops for Operation Lion Strike, items which would otherwise take a lot of time to unlock or cost actual money.
Here are the map descriptions for those who need their memories jogging.

Broadcast
Based on the TV station from the campaign mission “Charlie Don’t Surf”, this map provides a unique blend of confined corridors and wide-open spaces. Outside the station, the parking lot contains long sightlines, but once inside, cramped hallways and a computer-cluttered broadcast room provide ample close-range combat opportunities.
Chinatown
Set in a foggy downtown district, this nighttime map is lit up by flickering neon signs and a full moon. A re-imagining of the original Call of Duty multiplayer map “Carentan”, players will need to be careful on these streets, as almost every building in the map can be occupied, providing perfect cover for enemies waiting for a chance to line you up in their sights.
Creek
Set in a wide-open village ravaged by combat where concealment is the difference between life and death, a gaping ravine divides this map into two. Open clearings with sheer cliff faces and ample forested cover make this map ideal for snipers and long-range firefights.
Killhouse
A small training warehouse filled with various building mock ups that feature soft and hard cover points. Expect fast-paced and fierce firefights for maximum close-quarters chaos.
PlayStation 4 owners had access to the maps earlier on this year as part of a timed exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision. The game’s second DLC, Continuum, released on the system earlier this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered comes packaged with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, with no word yet as to whether or not it will be sold separately at some point in the future.

StarCraft is Now Free to Download
Blizzard has released its first StarCraft patch 1.18 in eight years, some 23 years after its initial release. Whilst there are some big features that the new update brings, none are as important as the developer now handing the whole game and its Brood War expansion out for free.
The official site reads: “StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War are now free. Follow the links here to begin installing”. Below that are options for both PC and Mac owners.
StarCraft: Remastered releases later this year, and will feature both the original game and its expansion, so this seems to be more of a celebratory “thankyou’ from Blizzard than anything else.
The major updates that the patch brings are the following:
Added windowed fullscreen or windowed mode; use Alt+Enter to switch between.
Added UTF-8 support.
Added cursor clamping in-game while windowed; unclamped in menus.
Added Popular Maps to streamline finding games or game types.
Added options to display actions per minute.
Added Observer mode.
Added opponent information when joining a game lobby.
It’s a great gesture by Blizzard, and one which will allow players who perhaps missed out on the late ‘90s and noughties StarCraft craze to finally get involved – perhaps a decade or two too late, though. To get a taste of what it’s like, here’s some gameplay:

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Everything We Know So Far
Last week EA dropped the first Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer, a short but sweet glimpse into the universe which hasn’t stopped expanding since its big bang in 1977. The 2005 Battlefront 2 is the favourite for millions of fans of the series, and 2015’s reboot disappointed with its lack of single player and depth to its online multiplayer. It’s no surprise, then, that people have been picking apart the two minute trailer for as many clues as they can muster. Luckily for those who aren’t so keen eyed, or perhaps don’t have the time to scour every pixel, we’ve got everything you need to know right here based on the trailer, statements from EA, and other news outlets like Eurogamer who have been to see the developers themselves.

1. Release date
The game officially releases on November 17th 2017, although those who pre-order the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will have access to the game three days prior.
2. There will be a full campaign
One of the biggest criticisms of DICE’s 2015 Battlefront was that the ‘campaign’ was basically just a few hours’ tutorial to get you prepared for online multiplayer. There was a complete lack of story, and that annoyed a huge fan base who wanted a game in a similar vein to the PlayStation 2 era Battlefront games. This time around the developer will not only focus on the depth of its multiplayer – which was somewhat lacking in the original as well – but a much bigger single player campaign too.

All Injustice 2 Trailers Released Up To Now
Warner Bros. and Netherrealm Studios have released the fifth and final ‘Shattered Alliances’ trailer for Injustice 2, choosing this time to focus on Brainiac. It reveals him to be the evil behind Injustice 2’s story, destroying Earth in an attempt to find Superman.
This comes as no surprise as Brainiac has been a long time source of trouble in the comics and other video games such as the DC Universe Online MMORPG.

It’s another epic insight into the fighting game which pits DC Comics Superheroes and Supervillains against each other. The trailer finishes off the five part trailer series which began in February of this year. If you need reminding of the story so far, look no further.
