“Get his ass” Is so unreasonably funny to me. A huge win for the English language. Today’s version of “seize him” imo

The Watchers wear grave gold in acknowledgment of our own deaths.
It's a grave-dowry. Mementos to catch the eye or stir the heart.
It's Nevarran custom to wear precious objects we'd like to take to our graves.
This bracelet was presented to me on becoming a full Watcher. The ring with the large stone was my father's. His last gift.
Bonus:
Taash: How 'bout the little skull pin?
Emmrich: Oh, I just enjoy the look of it.

I'm not ready to discuss whether victims of crypto scams deserve it because I'm stuck on, like, who the fuck are these people? Who's putting six figures into a novelty cryptocoin based on a briefly trending blowjob meme in the first place? Do they grow these guys in a lab?

Hey friends. Do this:
Tumblr media
This probably took this person 3 seconds to do but it immediately told me that they liked my story enough to come back and read it again and they liked it again the second time.
Your favorite writers Do Not Know that you think about their stories after you read them. I generally assume that my stories make people happy for the few minutes they’re reading and then they never think about it again. To know that that’s not the case and that someone has returned just makes my little heart swell with joy.
I needed this today. If you’re the person who left this comment (or if you’ve ever commented on any of my writing) I love you.

someone: don’t u think it’s disturbing how in the past few years the level of femininity women are expected to perform and the industries they’re expected to contribute to in order to be taken seriously, especially on platforms like social media, has skyrocketed to the point that perfect makeup, contouring, acrylic nails, and eyelash extensions have become almost a social expectation and when women express no interest in adhering to those standards they’re met with vitriol and scorn straight woman who thinks Legally Blonde is the apex of feminist media: okay but it’s my choice? if i want to be feminine i should have the right to choose to do that because feminism is about choice

Also while im thinking about it - if someone responds to people expressing joy and enthusiasm and earnestness just in general with resentment/bitterness/anger/frustration/envy: they seriously need to address that, or it's going to ruin their relationships and the mental health of people around them.
People will not like them. It will not be unreasonable to dislike them. If they use it as evidence that they're too broken/fucked up/shitty to change, they will be disliked even more and it will become incredibly reasonable. Especially if they directly talk about these feelings in front of the joyful person.
It's a shitty thing to do. It's lashing out, because someone might feel like they have no control or agency in their own life, so they pick at people who are seemingly free of the problems they lack.
Doing this destroys confidence. It destroys self esteem. It's a very vicious thing to do to another person. It is not inevitable behavior.
Everyone can change. Even if the change is incredibly tiny. Even if personality disorders or complex trauma histories are at play. Even if there's ongoing disasters. We have agency in our own lives and make choices in how we treat other people. I understand feeling powerless and like we're set in stone and there's nothing that can be done but I promise it can start so small.
Even if it feels like lying to themselves, it is my hope that people who feel like this can try actively thinking about being happy for the person they see being joyful. Consider what conversations they could have with the happy person if instead of being hateful, they instead asked questions about whatever is making that person happy. They might learn something, and be able to pass it across to other people. It might cheer them up.
It will be a much better way to handle a situation then covering others in tar in an attempt to make themselves feel better by dragging others down to their level of misery.
