2020 Top 10 JDM Girls
It’s 2020, and you know what that means?
Corona-virus? Murder hornets? Forest Fires?
No. No, and No.
Gentlemen start your engines, cause it’s time for this year’s highly anticipated Top 10 JDM Girls of 2020!
#10 – The Tokyo Auto Salon Girls
So luckily, the TAS was scheduled in January before the proverbial shit hit the proverbial fan and we were able to catch a glimpse of some pretty sick cars including a sport-tuned, and upgraded Honda S660 and these two…
#9 – Awano Kisaragi
As the so-called “drift queen” of the streets and parking high-rises in Tokyo, Awano Kisaragi gets makes the list with her combination of killer looks and driving skills.
#8 – Nissan Amine
No Japanese-themed list would be complete without Amine, and nothing says JDM like Fox-Girl sitting behind a barely street legal Nissan 200SX.
#8 – Cutoff Jeans JDM
Washing a racing-tuned Honda Civic without a hood requires the utmost care, plenty of wax, and – of course – a hot girl in cheeky shorts.
#7 – Retro JDM Girl
As a purveyor of Japanese automotive culture, author, racer, Taryn Croucher is on bad-ass babe who treats her ultra-clean vintage 1975 Datsun 280Z as a actual living entity.
#6 – Yuri Shibuya
Though her street-cred isn’t quite there, and may not know the first thing about drifting, we think Car Show phenom Yuri Shibuya should be on the list just cause she’s super hot.
#5 – Team Civic 2020
As a rule, every good mod car show requires a wide array of vehicles, nice weather, and girls with short shirt-skirts.
#4 – JDM Bikini Girl
I am guessing that track racing attendance would plummet if not for gorgeous race girls like these.
#3 – Tattoos And Stilettos
Nothing says Japan racing quite like outlawed Yakuza Tattoos…on a naked girl…with Stillettos, posing in from of a modded-out Nissan Skyline.
#2 – Smokin’ Hot Red Nissan Silvia
It’s getting down to the wire, with this hot red and white combo at #2…
#1 – Smokin’ Hot White Honda NSX
…and the winner is…this street-legal white NSX and his lady in red!

Purchasing JDM Parts From Japan
JDM cars that you can purchase locally may not always be in their best shape. There can also be times when your JDM baby just can’t run anymore and is in need of spare parts. It is also possible that you just want to rebuild or mod your JDM. If that’s the case, where do you get the parts? Do you just rely on your luck and try your local auto shops for parts?
Why settle for what’s available when you can directly get spare parts from Japan. Unlike a decade ago, Japan is slowly opening itself to catering to the market overseas. Nowadays, there are shops in Japan that are already targeting customers overseas. They now have English-speaking staffs and it is easier to communicate with them.
However, even if the situation is better today, there are still some problems that can happen. Some shops don’t want to deal with customers using credit cards that are not issued in Japan. This is because of fraud orders. This is when fraud foreigner customers order something and use a stolen credit card. When the true owner notices the charge, they inform the bank and cancel the charges. By that time, the item has already shipped.
This is also true in the case of JDM parts because they are expensive. However, there is still a possibility to purchase from Japan through online platforms such as the following:
eBay
eBay is very well known as an online platform where you can buy or sell almost anything. This is also true for JDM parts. Usually, the JDM parts posted on eBay are created by Expats or those who speak English and would want to target the overseas market. This is great news as they post details about the JDM parts in the language you understand.
However, not all parts that you are looking for may be available on eBay. The availability of parts depends on what someone posts. Also, it can be difficult to filter out the exact products you wish to buy.
Yahoo Auction Japan
Another well-known online selling site is Yahoo Auction. Many JDM enthusiasts turn to this site when they need parts because the parts are likely available here. There are lots to choose from but the site is in Japanese so it can be difficult to navigate or communicate with the sellers.
Also, not all sellers are willing to ship outside of Japan. You’d need to find a 3rd party logistics company to ship the item to you. Moreover, the items here may have been bought from others and are resold here for more profit.
Croooober
In 2014, Croooober started as a marketplace for JDM parts from Japan. They ship worldwide and have loads of parts that will make every JDM car customization enthusiast glee with delight. The site is specifically for the automotive industry so searching for parts is easier. Apart from the huge inventory, they also have English-speaking staff.

The “Showiest” JDM Cars For Car Shows
Have you ever attended JDM car shows? If you’re like me, then you’d also want to impress those who are there to admire and appreciate JDM cars.
What better way to do that than to bring your best JDM or at least don’t bring cringe-worthy modified JDMs.
If you haven’t purchased a JDM yet, then now is the best time to buy. US import laws regarding vehicles only allow those that have reached 25 years of age. In 2019, the R32 Nissan Skyline just reached that mark. Lots of enthusiasts are excited or it and lots of dealerships have now opened all over the country.
Whether you’re looking for a JDM to bring to a show, add to your collection or just to drive around, here are the best JDM cars to purchase:
Nissan Skyline
An iconic car, it should not come as a surprise that the Nissan Skyline GT-R belongs to this list. Does it look familiar? Well, that’s because it has been in various movies and video games. For years, many car enthusiasts have only dreamt of how this car performs but now it’s available.
One reason why it’s quite popular would be due to its great performance in racing as it leads the Australian Touring Car Championship way back in 1990. Add to the popularity is the increasing value of this vehicle for all models from C10 to R34.
If you do want to get the most covetable unit, then try to find the GT-Rs because they were only produced in a limited quantity. Today, you can get the R34 GT-R but you’d have to wait for 4 more years for the R34.
Toyota MR2
The Toyota MR2 sports a mid-engine layout and was inspired by Italian supercars. These were also produced in limited quantities so getting your hands on them would be a great buy.
You can expect the price to rise as it still gains more popularity. If you find a GT or GT-S models, then you better think twice about letting them go. They are very desirable for their turbocharged engine.
Mazda RX-7
If you’re on the hunt for sports cars, then the Mazda RX-7 is likely on your list too as it is with ours. Like the Skyline, it has also been used in various video games and films that’s why it is very popular.
Although this was sold in the US, it’s quite difficult to find one that has low mileage. That changed when it became available for import. It is one of the best looking JDM cars and will surely be a head-turner and cult favorite at car shows.
Toyota Land Cruiser
Let’s take a break from sports cars for this esteemed four-wheel off-road vehicle, the Toyota Land Cruiser. With the JDM model, you get a gas engine as well as a turbo-diesel option. The gas-powered ones are highly desired and their values continue to rise not only here in the US but worldwide.
Nissan Cima / Cedric / Gloria
For enthusiasts who focus more on luxury and style, the Cima, Cedric, and Gloria are the best to purchase. These are British inspired luxury vehicles. Apart from not being available in the US, these are sought after because of the diversity they have to offer. They can come as a rear or four-wheel drive. Also, various engine combinations are available.
Conclusion
With the turning of the year, more cars have become available for the JDM enthusiasts here in the US. Some of the vehicles to get when you simply want the best are the Nissan Skyline, Toyota MR2, Mazda, RX-7, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Nissan Cima / Cedric / Gloria.

6 Things About JDMs That’s Hard To Like
If it isn’t obvious, I have a soft spot for things Japanese. I love the cars, the culture, the Kawaii, the close-communities – also – did I mention I am a huge fan of the cars!
But alas, there are just some things that’s I can’t really like no matter how I try. Well, in my opinion I think there are some things that’s just over the top. Thinking about some of them just makes you cringe.
Do you know of somethings that you wish the JDM community could have done better? Check out my list below and see if we share the same sentiments or if you beg to disagree with me.
6 Ultra-Low Suspension
Lowering the suspension for JDMs and other vehicles helps decrease the drag. This can greatly improve control over the vehicle, especially when you are going at top speeds. Although lowering the suspension is functional, those who go ultra low are just doing it for show.
Many car culture in Japan practice lowering their suspension as low as it can go and that is adapted with the JDM culture we have today. Ultra low suspension isn’t practical. It can cause problems when going over a speed bump. The underside of the vehicle can bump on the ground and get seriously damaged.
Similarly, it also causes extreme wear patterns on the wheels which are also uneven. If the suspension system gets caught up with the other systems in the vehicle, it can also case even more danger and increased risk.
Additionally, towing and lifting can be a problem because the vehicle cannot be easily towed. Also using manual jacks for ultra-low suspension vehicles can be a pain in the ass. This easy tool to use will be a lot harder to maneuver with lowered car frames.
5 Extravagant Paint Jobs
Its true that the easiest way to customize your car is by painting it but some have clearly done it extravagantly. Some have custom murals in them, there are Hello Kitty themed ones, and then there’s just plain weird ones that you can’t even understand what they’re trying to portray.
Don’t get me wrong, I love customization too but I’m just more of a classic lover, a minimalist perhaps. For me, over the top paint jobs are just wrong for a beautiful JDM classic. I’d change colors but I’d likely stick to classic solid colors with little accents.
4 Limited Truck Builds
Most people will seldom choose a truck to build but car cultures that do add variety to their car culture. Many people now modify their trucks but with JDMs, there’s only a limited number. Although we wish there can be more trucks, most people would still choose to build JDM cars.
A reason for this is the extra taxes placed on trucks. This is because Japan laws are more strict in taxing truck builds than other types of vehicles.
3 Small Variety
It’s true that JDM shows should have exclusive JDM cars to help build up its name but only sticking to JDM cars for shows may also not be good for the car culture. It is always best to have a variety of builds because having too similar ones can be boring.
It’s understandable that JDM car shows attract JDM enthusiasts but giving the show a bit of variety also attracts others who are interested in cars in general. This initial attraction helps open up doors for other enthusiast to get interested in JDMs as well.
2 Limited Meets
The JDM community seems to be very active on social media but in the real world they rarely meet. This may be due to the changing seasons and because most of the enthusiasts are in the cities.
Limited meets mean you don’t get to socialize personally with other JDM enthusiast. For some, this isn’t ideal because it doesn’t fuel the fire. When more people meet up regularly for JDM events, more ideas and a stronger car culture can be observed.
Apart from limited meets, there are also not so many car shows either. Most only have annual car shows. Ideally shows should be weekly to satisfy an enthusiast’s craving for all things about JDM.
1 Crazy Car Modifications
Crazy modifications do not end in paint. In fact they just start with it. Some of the crazier modifications in JDMs that I’ve seen involve the exhaust system. Here’s one I can stop looking at:
Fugly Car Modifications On Exhaust
Overly exaggerated exhaust systems really grab people’s attention but not always in a good way.
Trying to set this trend won’t really be successful because it doesn’t make the car gorgeous. Instead, it makes them more ugly, in my honest opinion. There are other super easy cosmetic modifications for JDM’s that doesn’t have to look ugly.

Winter Tires For Your Prized JDM
Changing seasons can be brutal to cars and I get why you wouldn’t want to risk damaging your JDM baby out in the cold. The temperature is not the only main concern but also the condition of the road during winter. And since most Japanese made vehicles for the domestic market were front wheel drive, it’s an especially big concern in sleet and snow.
But did you know that there are tires for JDMs that are made for winter?
Tires specifically made for winter have been always available but not all people are aware of them. Most vehicles have “all-weather” tires so most owners don’t bother checking.
Before you shrug the idea of using winter tires on your Rota rims, know that using them is already on an upward trend. That comes to no surprise because of its benefits such as the following:
Added Grip
Compared to summer tires, winter tires are made up of more silica. This prevents the rubber tire from hardening even when rolling on an icy road, thus, providing better grip. Traction is maintained and it is less likely for the car to spin and slip.
The grip is also an important factor when it comes to safety. With grip, drivers have better control and they can use their brakes properly.
Improve Fuel Economy
Without the sliding and spinning on ice, it won’t take as much power to control the car. You won’t have to burn loads of fuel just to push your car to move in the direction you want to go.
Even if winter tires can cost more than your regular tires, the fuel you save pretty much pays for what you spend on the wheels. A word of advice: Make sure to choose quality winter tires even if they cost a little bit more than lower quality ones.
Maintain Stability
One car hack that some drivers advice for car owners driving on winter weather is to let some pressure out of the tires. This adds grip to the tires but this would also mean reduced stability for your car. You can feel this, especially when turning on tight corners.
Instead of losing stability, just use your winter tires for the winter months. It’s much safer to do so.
Note On Studs On Tires: Metal or ceramic studs may also be present in some winter tires but such tires may or may not be allowed on different states during wintertime. It is best to check local laws and rules about the use of studded tires. To be sure, just use non-studded winter tires for the coldest months of the year.

Waiting Game For The Best 3 Out-Of-Reach JDM Cars
Cherry Nissan Skyline R34
After months of back-and-forth with my registered compliance office, I have no problem saying: Fuck the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act.
It is definitely getting in the way of getting my hands in the most awesome JDM cars available and fuck Donald Trump who’s not doing anything about these silly restrictions!
Isn’t there anything that can be done? Are we just expected to helplessly wait for those cars to reach the maturity age of 21-25 before we can proudly drive them here in the United States?
Pardon my profanity but I’m just saying what most of us in the JDM community are thinking. Japan has an amazing line of cars that’s never available here in the US. Before I rant out even more due to fumes fired by our silly laws, I’d like to give you guys a little treat.
I was researching for great JDM cars to share with you guys but I found out that what I listed had one thing in common: they are all still out of reach… Well, for now they are. We all have to wait for a few more years to get them but for now, let’s just drool over these babies.
Toyota Century
You got that right, the Toyota Century is on top of this list. You might say, “But Jay, that isn’t a sports car”. So what if it’s not a sports car! It’s one of the best out-of-reach JDM cars that I would very well like to have in the future.
Roomy, comfortable and luxurious, you’ll be turning heads when you ride this baby. Looks aren’t all that it has, it also has a front engine combined with a rear-wheel-drive. The 5 liter V12 engine shouldn’t be overlooked too with it’s four-speed automatic and 276 hp, which is further upgraded to a six-speed automatic and 305 hp power, it offers one of the smoothest rides.
Nissan Skyline R34 Generation GT-R Nismo Z-Tune
I have an older model, the Skyline R32 GTS-T. You can read my personal experience on importing this car on my post about How NOT To Import A Car From Japan.
Unfortunately, this newer and better model, the Skyline R34, would only be allowed to be legally imported in 2024. In five years time, this turbocharged beasts can be yours if you have a very deep pocket of cash. The current price has skyrocketed to as much as $150,000. It can go from 0-60 in a mere 3.8 seconds and it can go as fast as 203 mph.
Honda Acura Integra Type R
Last but definitely not the least is this car that comes cool Recaro seats in either blue or red. It also has a powerful V-TEC engine that boasts 220 hp. It also includes Brembo brakes, better suspension, and improved handling as compared to what the US received.
Just Can’t Wait…
I know it waiting can be a pain and it’s very tempting to find other ways to own these babies but unless the laws change, there is nothing we can do. Don’t make the mistake of getting the car illegally. Just be patient and your dream JDM will soon be available. If only we can fast forward time.

Some of The Best Classical JDM Cars
JDM cars refer to cars of the Japanese origin. These cars are made in Japan and then shipped to almost all parts of the world. However, there are some countries that don’t allow the import of JDM cars or impose a heavy duty on these cars. The Japanese cars are unique, elegantly designed and known for their amazing mileage. In this article, we have decided to review some of the most stylish JDM cars (some are old and some are new)
Mazda Cosmo
Back in the days when Japan was making high-end, stylish and cheap music systems, it was also busy in making cars with sexy curves and the most innovative technology involving rotary engine. Only three of Mazda Cosmos cars made their way to the United States. If you want pure looks and high performance, then Mazda Cosmos should be your choice.
Mitsubishi FTO
Mitsubishi FTO has always been one of the fewest manufactured JDM cars. It was pretty costly and not everyone could afford it but still, the number of cars that came out of the production process were only a few hundred. This, of course, couldn’t quench the thirst of fans – but that’s how it is. People still keep this car proudly and also modify it in different ways. This can also be seen in a hit Hollywood, Jackie Chain’s movie, Thunderbolt.
Autozam AZ-1
This ultra-compact car is a treat to the eyes. It only measures 11 feet in length and resembles a Mini Cooper is many ways. The Autozam is also famous for having the smallest gullwing doors. Available in many colors, this classic JDM is one of the most desired vehicles in the world.
Toyota Century
Associated with many Japanese Royal families, Toyota Century is one of the best stealth limos around, especially if you are looking for a classic ride. There are only a handful of these cars in the Western world, so if you see one, make sure you take some good pictures.
Nissan S15 Silvia
Looking for a classical speed racer with a turbocharged engine and lots of power to drift around? Say hello to Nissan S15 Silvia, which has never been sold in the United States but has always been wished for. The design is pretty sleek considering the time when it came out.
Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
Fast and the Furious fan? You must have seen this car from Nissan, modified to the extreme and impressing everyone on the circuit. The ultimate performance of this car on the race circuits and being a part of some of the most breathtaking stunts, this car has earned itself a name of “Godzilla”.
Toyota Celica GT-Four
Celica GT-Four is one of the lightest and most compact sports cars of the yesteryears. It’s a two-door sports car fitted with a beast of an engine. Due to its compact shape, the performance of Toyota Celica GT-Four receives a great boost – whether it is speed, control or acceleration.
Do you have any of the above-mentioned cars in your wish list? Or do you want to add to this list of JDM cars? Feel free to comment below!

Best JDM Cars of 2018
Japan has been right up there when speaking of technology, it all began in the 1980’s when the country was experiencing a drastic boom in the economy. Although in the early 90s when the economic crash came there was a slight hiccup in this technological boom but till today Japan is rated pretty high as far as technology is concerned.
As the economic boom came to Japan, it also started to manufacture extremely good cars, these cars are renowned all over the world. These cars were sports or performance cars. But when Japan was hit by the economic crash in the early 90s, the manufacturers went back to the usual family wagons and kei cars. The world that we live in today believes in eco-friendly and hybrid cars, it will not be a statement of an exaggeration to say that the hybrid revolution has taken the car industry by surprise. So with the introduction of these eco-friendly or hybrid cars, it is just a rarity to witness a performance car on the roads.
But it is not that bad as the demand for these cars is ever growing and this is the best time that you can own one of these majestic vehicles designed in the golden era. Below is a list of some vehicles which you can own today.
Mazda RX7
Many people around the world dream of owning this car, but when they think of the rotatory engine they decide else wise. As the rotatory engines are considered to be quite troublesome, complex and also need a rebuild every now and then, that is why most of the people drop the idea for owning one of these cars. But the reality is completely different from this misconception, as rotatory engines are really easy to maintain and extremely reliable as well. You will have to rebuild the rotatory engine after every 100k km and that a rotatory specialist can do for you at a very reasonable price. As Mazda is all set to introduce a new model of the RX7 so the price of the original is meant to go up.
Honda Civic SIR (EG6)
When talking about performance cars Honda is either loved to the point of worship or just hated, the reason for this is unknown to most of us. If you are a car freak and you cannot appreciate the VTEC engines by Honda you will just kill it. The Honda Civic SIR (EG6) has a sleek body design and a nice chassis and is still used in racing circuits till now. As the manufacture year for these cars is just about 25 years from now, therefore, it is the best time to own one as of the import policy of the US.
Subaru Impreza WRX STI (GC8)
This car was launched in 1992, as Subaru Impreza WRX, just after its launch it was given to the Subaru’s motorsport branch known as “STi” and this is how the Subaru Impreza WRX STI came into existence. It is equipped with a pretty powerful engine and the handling is just outstanding. The best time to own this car is right now as it is gaining a status of the modern classic car and the value is on a rise.

Converting My 1993 Toyota Cresta To Biodiesel
L:ove At First Site: Picking My Toyota Cresta Super Lucent At The Shipyard
I love diesels. As the site owner of JayDM, I especially love Japanese-made diesels.
Unfortunately Japanese-made diesel automobiles have suffered a bit of a reputation problem over the last couple of decades.
Almost to the point of extinction.
Between diesel-specific taxes levied in the 90’s, and the now infamous 1999 episode where the lead politician in Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara, held up a black vial of diesel soot from along side a much clearer bottle of gasoline particulate, two things were abundantly clear to the Japanese consumer:
Diesel = dirty
Diesel = expensive
From 1990 when a respectable 7% of consumer cars on the Japanese roads were diesel, by 2006, there were only 1 diesel models available to purchase to the Japanese public, the beastly Landcruiser Prado from Toyota
It was a small miracle then that I was able to find a low-mile, fully functioning diesel powered 1993 Toyota Cresta X90 Super Lucent to import from Japan earlier this year. Featuring a Toyota 2L-TE Turbo 4-cylinder diesel the engine is wonderfully tuned has some get up around 3500, and with a upgraded LSD, the suspension is nice and tight.
So am I going to mod this bitch out?
Hell no! I’m going to covert this baby to biodiesel.
Wha? Why?
Partly because I love the smell of fried kitchen grease, and partially because I care about the environment, okay?
I’ve also never done it before, and I think the Spartan look of this white little car is growing on me.
Think I’m crazy? Got other ideas for my Cresta? Let me know what you think in the comments below:

Why JDM Cars Kick Ass
As a JDM enthusiast from early on, it’s been interesting to witness the huge rise in the popularity of JDM cars in the US. While the impressive engines in these mobile machines are no doubt a great investment, it’s a good idea to understand why these cars and parts are so special if you’re looking to take your investments to the next level.
The following article includes some of the things that make the JDM such a special find in this day and age and why the presence of these impeccable automobiles can be expected to BOOM here in the US.
1. Efficiency in Every Way
The JDM was designed to be owned and operate in the land of Japan. Any high school geography buff will tell you this is a country of many people in a small space. When every square inch counts, efficiency is the national currency and they have certainly made an art of their practicality in design and performance.
This makes the JDM a practical vehicle that can be counted on for plenty of work without a fuss for decades to come. You will find a market full of compact but roomy options with sophisticated designs and all designed to be owned and operated in Japan.
2. Conditions are Immaculate
Another important advantage of these JDM automobiles is that no matter the make or model you are purchasing a car in mint condition. These cars will withstand any inspection and still appear to be rolled right out of the show room. Furthermore, the Japanese market is saturated with these models for an important reason.
Japanese traffic regulations are extremely rigid and the inspection/registration system so prohibitive that driving an older model car can be a financially debilitating move. The most cost-effective solution is to trade in your car for a newer make and model every few years and this means that many cars have hardly even been used on the pristine streets of Japan.
With depreciation so high it is not uncommon to see a 15-year old land cruiser that looks like it’s never been taken off the lot, these babies are PERFECT! Furthermore, there are makes and models of all types in this condition from sports cars and 4X4’s to utility vehicles and more.
3. Price is So Right!
There is now a small problem with space to store all these impressive Delicas, Hiluxes, Skylines and Honda’s in Japan and they have got to be taken out of the country. When markets have been saturated with so much high-quality we see the savings be shipped abroad in huge quantities for unbelievably low prices.
It has gotten so that selecting from a huge variety of cars in impeccable conditions from the JDM market then paying the price of transportation through ocean freight and importing on this side of the pacific, might be an option for you. The costs will certainly be close to what it will cost you to buy the similar make and model in a local market and you will buying a superior quality with plenty of efficient technology you just don’t see around here.
Over the past few decades these cars were being taken to markets in Russia, SE Asia, Taiwan, the UK and Even in Canada. But, now they are making a big splash in the US markets as more and more people are appreciating the benefits of a smart JDM. While the craze may have started with some fanatics of the JDM market, it has certainly spread to all factions of the consumer market.
So, get ready for it, there could be a sudden influx of smart RHD vehicles making a more common appearance in your city.

Spotlight: Rota Wheels
Rota Attack Rims on a Mazda
When we were in the business of selling wheel, engines, and JDM parts for $$$, there was a go-to brand that we’d always recommend when someone asked about wheels: Rota!
Why?
They really, really close to the racing wheels they were emulating
The cost made them super easy to sell, and…
They held up – even on the track. For the 5 year I was selling them, we hardly ever, EVER had a return, and that’s saying ALOT!
While the internet has all sorts of memes about how bad Rota sucks, the consistent popularity of this brand over 20 years is a testament to the staying-power and value of the brand for JDM.
With Rota on my mind, I was looking at some of the posts from our old side and decided to get all introspective on some of the classic ROTA looks of yester-year. So here’s some pictures of some of the coolest designs…
Rota Slipstream Slipstreams: Far and away the most popular wheel made by Rota.
Rota Slipstream
Rota Circuit 8 Circuit 8 or C8’s: A classic design that look good on a wide variety of import cars.
