Romi Garduce, or commonly known as Garduch to his mountaineering friends. Is the first Filipino who has conquered the seven summits of the world. Which are: Africa’s Kilimanjaro, Europe’s Mount Elbrus, Denali of North America, Mount Aconcagua of South America, Asia’s Mount Everest, The Vinson Massif in Antarctica, Australia’s Mount Kousciuszko and Jaya Peak.
According to his interview in the Jovial Wanderer in September of 2012, “as an alpine climber, one must be self-reliant, toting all items needed for food, shelter, and safety while going up a mountain. He also highlights how significant it is to be physically fit and mentally prepared prior to climbing. And upon climbing Mount Everest, Garduce encountered a mini-avalanche. On October 22 of 2014, Garduce posted on his blog regarding the incident that took place in Annapurna, Nepal. That claimed almost 30 lives and which happened to coincide with his aborted trek.
