I don't post here often, but I thought this might be important to share this week. The night after the election, some friends and I watched Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator. If you're not familiar with it, this was Chaplin's first sound film. It was also released in 1940, at a time when America was still neutral in World War II.
The film can be a tough watch, both in modern context and in the context of when it was released. Chaplin said in his autobiography, "Had I known of the actual horrors of the German concentration camps, I could not have made The Great Dictator, I could not have made fun of the homicidal insanity of the Nazis."
I recommend watching the film if you feel like you're in the headspace for it, but I'd like to share a clip from the ending where Charlie Chaplin gives a speech directly into the camera.
