Indian Talking Stick
1. Earlier today, I decided to try the Indian talking stick concept when my sister and I had a disagreement about who should do the dishes. I first allowed her to make her point which was essentially she does not have time because she had to leave for dance. Then I made my point that they were her dishes. After saying why I thought I shouldn't have to do the dishes I understood that I should just do them for her because she did not have time.
2. This was an interesting experience for me because typically disputes between my siblings do not end as well as this one did. Through really listening to her point without interrupting or talking over her I was able to understand that me doing the dishes was the right thing to do. Even if I did not want to do them.
3. I learned that intentful listening can help to build trust because through truly listening to my sister and her positioning I was able to make a more sensible decision. When I listened to her whole explanation I believed it more as well as understood it more than I usually would have.
4. I could apply this technique in other leadership opportunity’s by making sure that I listen and understand others fully before I try to get my point across to them. This will help me to understand their point of view better and also save me a lot of time since I will understand them a lot quicker.

High Performing Team
The most high performing team that I have ever been on was a soccer team called the Mississauga Falcons.
1. The reason why this was such a high performing team was because of the high team chemistry and the success we had. We were all very good friends for many years so we all got along well. Also, we all wanted the same thing which was winning. Having a singular goal helped us to come together as a team. We also, won a lot of games and were ranked number one in Ontario. The winning made us get along a lot better than we would have if we had lost a lot.
2. I contributed to the development of this team by showing up to training and games everyday and putting in maximum effort. This not only made me a better player but it made all of my teammates better.
3. The only thing that I would change about this team looking back is the fact that we broke up. If we could have stayed together for a longer period of time we could have won many more trophies and continued to develop as friends.I would not change my role in the team because I do not believe that I am captain material and we already had a very good captain.
4. Currently, when a team that I am a part of gets in to conflict, I allow for the leader and the others come up with solutions to fix it because I do not want to involved in the issue. I try to stay out of the conflict so that no one will be mad at me. This is clearly not an effective way to deal with team problems. In the future, I believe that I should engage in the conflict resolution process so that my ideas are heard and taken in to account. This will allow for the resolution to involve more ideas and possibly lead to a better outcome.
5. When working with teams in the future, I will try to take more of a leadership role. I currently allow others to make decisions for the most part if it is not necessary for me to take the lead. This makes things easy for me but I know it is not be best way to do things. I plan to speak up more and let my ideas be heard more often.

Followership
In order to be a more effective follower, I will work very hard to develop strong and health relationships with people in leadership roles. This would be done by helping the leader to be the best leader that they can be and being useful to the leader. I will make sure to respect and listen to the leader to assure that I am being an effective follower. Also, I will make sure to utilize my personal, relational and positional sources of power so that I am a follower that yields the ability to make decisions and differences. Rather than a follower that just goes with the flow and has no originality.

Top Five Leadership Strengths
1. My top five leadership strengths are self-confidence, honesty, judgement, flexibility and powerful listening. These five things aid me into becoming a better leader in my everyday life.
2. I can use all of these leadership strengths in a leadership role while at work. For example, I can use my self-confidence when training people so that they get the impression that I really know and understand what I am doing. So, they will be confident that they are receiving the best training possible. I can use my honesty in a leadership role by always telling the truth when training people about how working at Osmows really is. This way, they will be more prepared and for their job and if they do not feel they can perform the tasks necessary, they will leave quickly and not waste company resources. I can use my judgement in a leadership role at work when telling my boss which trainees are better than the other ones. This will help my place of work to have better employees overall which will help make the place run more smoothly. Also, I can use my flexibility in a leadership role at work by listening and understanding my co-workers when they have problems and need shifts covered. Lastly, I can use my powerful listening abilities in a leadership role at work by listening to people when they have issues or questions about how to deal with work related problems and give them proper advice on how to fix their problems. If I give them the correct advice, they will be able to do their job better.
3. Over this past week, I had to train two different people. One was better at the job than the other and was picking up things very quickly. My boss asked me which of the two were better than the other so that she can give that person the tougher shifts because they are more likely able to handle them. The other person was to continue their training until they are ready to work on their own. Using my judgment skills in this situation helped both my boss and the organization because it made sure that the right people worked the right shifts for their abilities.

Leadership Situation
1. At my work, I often have to be a leader. Such as when I am asked to train new employees on how to do the job correctly. My leadership abilities are very important in this situation because I am responsible for whether or not they are able to do their job correctly. From these situations, I learned that being a good and positive leader is extremely important for the development of followers. These experiences are very gratifying for me because it shows me that my boss trusts me enough to train people that will be working in her store
2.  Some of my leadership strenghts are consistency and leading by example. I display consistency by treating all people the same and by providing the same quality of work everyday. I lead by example by doing a good job, being professional and being punctual everyday at work.
3.  One leadership strength that I would like to develop is motivating people through speech. This is because I am not the best at motivational speaking and it is a good way to get people to complete their job better. Another leadership strength that I would like to develop is my critical thinking. I believe that I already have good critical thinking, although, the further development of it will only enhance my leadership skills. This is because if I am able to think critically to solve problems, I will be able to help my co-workers and subordinates with their issues more effectively.
