“My thoughts on architecture and interior design? I mean they are useful. But do you really care Lura? Do you really?” He pulled her closer to him, hands resting on her lower back. “So we should go somewhere else but I should kiss you first? That sounds a bit upside down to me.” As he finished his sentence his voice was no higher than a whisper, his eyes shifting from her own to her lips.

“Well, I won’t deny that you’re attractive. But being attractive doesn’t necessitate you giving me free drinks. Nice does. Sure,” she said, handing him the cup. “It’s a start to knowing each other. And I know, I know. Doesn’t mean I always want to spend whole nights doing so.”

“My feelings are no long hurt. Well I’m not rich or a genius, so I had to backup the whole being attractive deal with something,” he smiled, refilling the cup. “Have to start somewhere, right? I don’t think anyone does - it would be pure abuse.”

“You did not just say that. When you look at the Eiffel Tower or the Burj Khalifa you do not think of interior design. It’s so different. With interior design you have to worry about the inside. Furniture, lighting, paint and all that beautiful stuff. I’m refraining from slapping you just for saying such a thing. They go hand in hand but never say that they are pretty much the same thing.” She was surprised. In all the years they have known each other they have only made out. It was kind of off putting for Lura to talk about actually having sex with him. Sure she would do it in a heartbeat. But this was Jarel. Jarel that she has known since her sophomore year of high school. “My ego right now. It’s nice to hear it from you though. I remember when we were younger and you weren’t nearly as attractive as you are now.” She moved closer, not letting go of his hand. “You know what you should do right now?”

“It’s literally the same thing Lura. Maybe I do, you don’t know what I think of,” he taunted her, laughing. “I’m joking. You’re the expert, I wouldn’t know.” She was beautiful. However, they were friend which had Jarel acting sweeter and more like himself around her. “You don’t need me to inflate your ego, but it’s my pleasure.” Jarel scoffed, slapping her arm as softly as he possibly could. “I was always good looking quit insulting me.” With his elbow on the bar, he rested his head on his free hand, looking up at Lura. “What should we do right now?”

“So far so good.” Cleopatra reached out, her fingers wrapping around the cold glass and taking a gulp. “Yeah you look like Dexter honestly. I’m Cleopatra, feel free to call me Cleo.” 

“I never got that before but I’m going to pretend like it’s a compliment. Somehow.” He raised his glass before introducing myself. “Jarel. It’s a pleasure to meet you Cleo.”

“Also modelling and interior design but lets not talk about school. I mostly have filthy thoughts about people.” She started tracing small circles on his hand. “A couple? So that means you…and me…you would?” After all those years of knowing each other he says this now? Lura was confused and didn’t exactly know what to do. Besides down that shot of course. 

“Ay, give me a break, interior design and architecture are pretty much the same thing.” Jarel laughed, grabbing onto her hand. “You act so surprised Lura.” It was borderline adorable - a word which he rarely associated with Lura. “You’re beautiful, I don’t know why I would ever refuse. I’m not blind, you know?”

“I don’t know. That’s a question only you can answer, but I’m guessing it’s because you’re pretty nice as you’ve already given me some already. I’m Liz by the way, so now you at least know my name. I could be.. but I can only study so much before I need something else to do.”

“Aw, I thought you were going to say I’m pretty. But fair enough, I am pretty nice s well - I’ll take it. Want another?” He held out his hand. “Jarel. Now we are on a first name basis. Studying is a necessary evil Liz.”

“Thank you. I like to think my future as a comedian is a bright one. Of course you would choose yourself. My thoughts about you are bound to lead to action. You’re hot as hell and I’d happily do you on multiple surfaces. But you see I’ve resisted doing so since we first met way back then. Pour me another?”

“If architecture doesn’t work you always have comedy. Is there anything else you have filthy thoughts about that I should know of, hm?” He snickered, taking a sip of his own drink. “I don’t know if I’m adventurous enough for multiple surfaces though. Maybe only a couple. Your wish is my command,” he complied, pouring her another shot.

“Also very probable. I’ve always been more of a wine person anyways. Classier that way,” she teased, messing around with her now empty cup. “Hey. You don’t know me. You don’t know my life. I could be the sweetest, most responsible person.. now. Plus I can’t have any more shots than you’re willing to give me.”

“Classy girl I see. You’re right, I don’t know you; why am I serving you drinks then? I’m sure you could, but you could also be getting ahead on some studying right now.”

“You’re too funny. I don’t know what mean is. I’m no ones baby. But if you really are ready then give me a topic on which my thoughts would be filthy.” Lura downed the shot like a champ. Tequila was her favorite thing on this Earth. Besides sex but she’d rather not publicly admit that.

“You don’t know what me- That’s so funny Lura. You want a  topic? Me, of course, what other topic could it be? My dog?”

“Okay, maybe they aren’t all awful but I’ve never found a beer I ever liked. Probably wasn’t looking hard enough for it.” She gave a little laugh before taking the drink and downing it with only a slight scrunch to her face. “Two shots will hardly fuck me up to the point of passing out, but thanks for your concern.”

“Maybe you just haven’t tried enough.” He chuckled, taking a sip from his own drink. “I don’t expect you to pass out after two shots. But I don’t expect you to just have two either.”

“Um they are alright. Whiskey it is then.” Pouring her a drink, Jarel smiled softly. “Don’t drink too much then. I wouldn’t want you to pass out.”

“I’m a lot of things Lura - bible pusher is definitely not one of them. I’m glad I could convert you if I tried though. Lura baby. Don’t be so mean, I was born ready. As you wish,” he stated, pouring her a shot of tequila.
