The Highs, Lows and Drama in Britney Spears' Life Since Her Conservatorship Ended
The excitement over freeing Britney Spears in 2021 has fizzled. In the wake of her split from husband Sam Asghari, see where the pop star's post-conservatorship life got complicated.
Love at First Sight
Britney Spears met Sam Asghari on the set of her super sexy "Slumber Party" music video, which dropped in November 2016. Onscreen chemistry? Check! About five months after filming, they began dating, making joint appearances at places like NBA games and on social media.
Sometimes it's difficult to tell how Britney Spears has really been doing since her nearly 14-year-long conservatorship was terminated on Nov. 12, 2021.
Most would agree that she was not okay before it ended. The platinum-selling pop star had become increasingly vocal about her unhappiness and the barriers she alleged were in place to prevent her from living as she saw fit. (Dad and co-conservator Jamie Spears always maintained he did whatever he thought was best for his daughter's well-being.)
But once Britney was left to her own devices, much to the delight of many of her famous peers and the fans who hashtagged their hearts out in support of the cause, it's not as if life all of a sudden became uncomplicated.
And now, with her 14-month marriage on the rocks, what's next for the "...Baby One More Time" singer is once again unclear.
Breaking her silence two days after husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce, Britney wrote in an Aug. 18 post, "I've been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it's far from reality and I think we all know that !!!"
Sam had a fair point when he took to his Instagram Stories last December to point out that NSFW photos (let alone airing dirty family laundry) were pretty par for the course and yet, for whatever reason, his wife sure came under a lot of fire for her posts.
And in May, without naming names or entities, he slammed those who claimed to know the inside story about Britney, both now and back when "she didn't have a voice."
"Not gonna allow that," he wrote. "And that should stop. It should stop absolutely. The gaslighting and all that s--t gotta stop."
But after nearly seven years by Britney's side, much of it spent supporting the fight to free her, he's out.
Sam proposed in September 2021 as light started to appear at the end of the legal tunnel. And days before Britney—"the person and the estate," as the judge put it—was released from her conservatorship, she excitedly shared that wedding planning was underway.

How is Celine Dion's health in 2023? Stiff person syndrome and other challenges
Earlier this year, Dion canceled the remaining shows of the "Courage World Tour" as she deals with a serious neurological condition, stiff person syndrome.
By Lindsay Lowe
Celine Dion’s health status has been making headlines since the singer revealed earlier in 2023 that she has a serious condition that’s preventing her from taking the stage.
In May 2023, the 55-year-old pop legend announced that she was canceling the remaining dates on her Courage World Tour, including those in 2024, writing that the scheduling change came with a sense of “tremendous disappointment.” Just five months prior, Dion had revealed that she’d been diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome, which can lead to stiffness in the body, as well as spasms.
Dion choosing to share her diagnosis isn’t the first time the star has spoken publicly about her health — or rumors of health struggles. She’s been open about her decision to use in vitro fertilization to conceive her three children, and she’s addressed eating disorder rumors.
How is Celine Dion doing in 2023?
Dion last opened up about her health status in May 2023. At the time that she announced that she was canceling the rest of her tour, she also shared about her efforts to manage her stiff person syndrome, especially when it comes to performing.
On her website, Dion wrote that she’s “working really hard to build back (her) strength,” adding that touring can be very challenging even for people in peak health. But, she stressed that she’s “not giving up” and is determined to return to the stage at some point. “I can’t wait to see you again!” she told fans in her message.
Prior to her stiff person syndrome diagnosis, Céline’s last major projects were the earlier dates in her Courage World Tour — she completed 52 performances in North America — and filming her first movie in 2021. She starred as herself in “Love Again” alongside Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan. Dion also recorded several songs for the film’s soundtrack, including the ballad “Love Again.”

Charice Pempengco Now: Being Jake Zyrus + Amazing Talent
Charice Pempengco, popularly known as Jake Zyrus, rose to worldwide fame when her vocal chords astounded many. The Filipina was given the chance to work with the likes of David Forster, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli - up until she became Jake Zyrus, and laid low. Where she is now?
It's her birthday and we are beyond interested.
Pempengco aka Zyrus is a Filipino singer and actor with an estimated net worth of $6 million.
In Laguna, Philippines, Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco was born.
As a child, she began her career in 2007 by entering in singing contests to help support her family. In 2005, she placed third on the popular Filipino singing competition show "Little Big Star." When a fan uploaded footage of her singing to YouTube, she began to garner significant exposure.
Her performances in Sweden drew the attention of Ten Songs/Productions, and she subsequently recorded her first demo. Since then, her career has soared, and she has performed all over the world and appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Why Coming Out as a Lesbian Was NOT Enough
In 2013, Charice came out as a lesbian. In 2017, she acquired the name Jake Zyrus and announced her full transition to male.
Jake Zyrus disclosed his former identity as Charice Pempengco and the agony he endured while concealing his gender identity prior to coming out as a transgender man.
"When Charice was found, sitting onstage with David Foster & Friends, Oprah (Winfrey), and Ellen (DeGeneres) was one of my [pains], she revealed in an interview with Toni Gonzaga's YouTube vlog, June 30. Why? Because he knew the magnitude of those opportunities and did not want to appear ungrateful
He noted that he continuously grappled with how he defined himself, even before his music industry career took off. "It was always there - the difficulty and sorrow of concealing oneself, he explained, which many members of the LGBTQ can relate with.
Zyrus described how his confusion damaged his mental health and the moment when his troubles drove him to commit suicide.
When he considered coming out, he learned that he mostly concerned the acceptance of others, namely Foster, Winfrey, and his followers. Following his third try at sucide, he recalled that Foster was one of the first individuals to see him in the hospital. He noted that Foster did not force him to wear a dress for their performance later that day, which he now deems significant. Check the performance below:
youtube
He ultimately found self-acceptance and is now certainly, much more at peace with things.

MICHAEL JACKSON - A Tale of POP King 2022 Year Review
After several quiet years, it seems we were back in action, thanks to the release of Thriller 40 which has kept the conversation flowing and our earbuds rejoicing, especially in the final months of the year. While there has been a few missed opportunities, the general consensus was that Thriller 40 was a success, especially with regards to the release of the 4K short films and hearing unreleased music.
But Thriller 40 wasn’t the only event which dominated our interests. Here’s our top picks for Michael Jackson – 2022 Year In Review.
Janet Jackson releases her official documentary ‘Janet’. Four years in the making, the documentary arrives in two parts and features never before seen footage of Michael and Janet writing Scream. Parts of the documentary explore Janet’s career in parallel to situations in Michael’s life. Janet categorically states she 100% knows her brother and supports his innocence.
MJVibe, (that’s us!) reached three million views in January 2022! From the moment we began in 2006 as ‘Mijac’ to today, we’ve been delighted to share information with Michael’s fans around the world. We only began tracking views several years ago, so to achieve 3 million in such a short time is incredible. Thank you to all of you!
The results of MJVibe’s Ultimate Anthology Poll 2021 are announced. The yearly poll allows fans to vote for their favourite Michael Jackson songs, albums and tours. This year, fans voted Man In The Mirror as their Number 1 song, This Is It as their favourite posthumous song, Dangerous as their favourite album and Bad as their favourite solo tour.
MJ The Musical officially opens on Broadway after previews complete. The launch event is attended by all three of Michael’s children, Spike Lee, Kenny Ortega.
An artist and illustrator named ‘Nate’ paints a brand new mural in Los Angeles, celebrating Off The Wall. The location is the same alley where Michael shot the original album cover for Off The Wall. The mural was revealed on March 12 and is located at 7771 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90036
The copyright to Michael Jackson’s first ever song with the Jackson 5, Big Boy was purchased by media giant Ayozat as part of a deal which included songs by the Bee Gees, Snoop Dogg and Sex Pistols.
Sony Music and The Estate announce new project Thriller 40, which will be released on November 18, 2022 and will include a double disc CD with never-released tracks. Various versions of the album will be released including a limited edition vinyl, 40,000 copies of a Mobile Fidelity vinyl release and an SACD of the original album.
As a result of ongoing legal action regarding the authenticity of the Cascio tracks on the Michael album, the songs are finally removed from streaming platforms, and further production of the physical album is discontinued. After 12 years of fans enduring three fake songs tainting Michael’s catalogue, the Estate finally gave in to the pressure ahead of a judgement and removed the songs – jumping before pushed perhaps?!
A seven-track version of the physical album was made available shortly after, while existing inventory still appears to be clearing out.
On July 15th the Broadway Cast Recording of MJ: The Musical was made available. Featuring the stage cover versions of Michael’s classic hits by Myles Frost and the current cast.
To mark Michael’s birthday, RIAA recertified four songs from Thriller. Thriller and Billie Jean were re-certified Diamond, with over 10 million sales each, while Beat It and PYT were certified Platinum.
In addition, The Girl is Mine was re-certified Platinum and The Lady In My Life was certified Gold.
Former Michael Jackson backing singer Marva Hicks passes away at the age of 66. Hicks performed with Michael during his special show in Brunei and on the HIStory World Tour. In 2009 while on tour, Hicks recalled how as soon as Michael learned her mother was ill he thanked her for performing and promised to get her to her mother as soon as possible. He ensured Hicks travelled home the following day and when she reached the hospital to see her mother, flowers arrived at the ward from Michael.
To promote both MJ The Musical and Thriller 40, the Estate organised a flashmob in Times Square New York to Michael’s classic ‘Thriller’. This was preceded by MJ The Musical ringing the Nasdaq bell.
Unreleased songs ‘Dream Away’ and ‘Chicago 1945’ appear online after being played at an event by Steve Porcaro. The songs were illegally recorded by a fan attending the event and put online in poor quality. This renewed conversations within the fan community about copyright and ownership.
Footage from a lost Michael Jackson Sega Game surfaces online as gaming fan Ben Bizley discovers the tape at a UK flea market and pays £300 for it.
The footage came from the game “Scramble Training” – Sega Simulator Advanced System-1
Having only had short, bad-quality clips online, Bizley found a way to transfer the full footage and share it online with fans.
That’s your full rundown of key moments in the world of Michael Jackson in 2022. Many celebrations focused on Thriller’s 40 anniversary and the subsequent album release. It felt great to have Michael’s music and artistry return to the forefront of discussions, and with Thriller’s continued success, his artistic merits cannot be ignored.
So what’s to come in 2023? We know the Thriller Documentary will see its official release once completed and there’s also the rumours that the biopic will arrive at the end of the year, though casting and principal photography have yet to begin. Whatever happens, Michael’s fans will keep the torch alive as they do every year.

Switzerland's Got Talent
The 2013 Voice of Switzerland was carried away by Nicole Bernegger from Basel.
She then went on to become Simply Red's supporting act during the first part of their tour, and has just completed a series of 12 concerts in Germany and Switzerland. Nicole's decidedly soulful voice is reminiscent of the extraordinary likes of Amy Winehouse. She has signed two solo albums produced in London by Andy Wright (Simply Red, Simple Minds).
Tiziana Gulino (The Voice, Switzerland 2014)
At the age of 17, Tiziana from Zurich was voted Switzerland's best voice on the Kreuzligen stage, 19 April 2014. We don't know if Tiziana's duo with Bastian Baker brought her luck!
NOUVELLE STAR
Patrick Rouiller
A different but similar talent show, this time Nouvelle Star sets Switzerland apart. Three is the magic number as they say, just as Fribourg-born Patrick Rouiller's third attempt at the show was successful. Patrick won the title of the show's final season, which may have to stop after running for 12 years.

DANSE AVEC LES STARS (STRICTLY COME DANCING, FRANCE)
Bastian Baker
At the age of 21, singer-songwriter Bastian Baker from the canton of Vaud took part in France's Strictly Come Dancing in December 2012. Danse avec les stars has been delighting its audience with fancy footwork, smouldering looks, acrobatic stunts and technical expertise for five series. Bastian was however obliged to bow out to champion vert skater Taïg Khris and his dancing partner.
Jörg Perreten
Jörg has another style but is just as full of talent. The 23-year-old Swiss punk, who has had his share of troubles in the past, turned out to be as gentle as a lamb as he ran his fingers over the piano keyboard like a real virtuoso.
