Winter settles over the dorm slowly, almost behind their backs.

Its gray blanket pressure cooks the inevitability of Death’s looming scythe for most of December, traps it beneath the walls of SEES’ ribcages, until the weight of it is enough to choke on. 

There’s a noose of frost that cinches their necks tight, preventing anything more than a handful of whispered words. 

Running ones at that, incomplete. 

Until the morning that heralds the end of pointless school exams, when the first of many ivory kisses silently land in the dorm’s windows. 

The wild ballet of whimsical white, projected through glass, gently frays the silence by way of Yukari’s voice.

Excitement all over Ken’s voice, boyish despite its newfound baritone. Enough to dislodge Akihiko’s eyes from the blurry mass of their surroundings and aim their focus.  

Business is indeed booming despite the muggy heat of August choking the night. Stands swarm with shoppers, and waves of people bathed in rainbow lights undulate beyond the tall gate.
