duckie never had a father in the picture . it was just his good ol ‘ mom & him & he never asked for anything better than that . all through his life , he’s always supplied with either hand me downs or thrift shops near em so naturally , he’s grown to love anything thrifty in sight . his mother’s job was cleaning houses & while didn’t pay much , she always made sure to have food on the table . duckie loved his mother very much . at the time is where he lived at the same neighborhood as andie .

 at the age of fifteen , his mother passed away due to a stroke which took a really hard turn in his life for awhile & took awhile to collect himself because he felt alone & nowhere to turn to as he had no contact with any relatives that he knows of
