Writing is honestly so fun. You barely need any materials (just a device with a keyboard or a pen and paper will do) and when you sit down to write you can literally just create anything you want.
You can make up a character and then simply put them in whatever situation you want. Do you want them to travel space? You can. Merely relax under a tree and contemplate life? No one can stop you.
Maybe, there's a book that you want to read, but you can't find anyone who's written this story, or hadn't written it the way you like. Well, you can just write it yourself!

This is my result! I think it makes sense, but whether I'm intuitive or methodological depends on the story I think. I do like having a general idea of where the plot is going and an outline at least a few chapters ahead, so plotter sounds right!
@defeatistwriter i took the test! :)
explanation about the types below! tagging anyone who wants to do it :)
This was fun because although I enjoy thinking about writing and creative process in general, I also find hard to define my own process? I move in different ways, depending on how my brain is at the moment I'm writing and what part of the story I'm at, idk. Hopefully I'm not the only one who is ''inconsistent'' with my own ''methods'' (if I have any, tbh).
''Methodological Plotters: These authors meticulously outline their stories, weaving intricate plots with careful detail and precision. Each twist and turn is carefully planned, leading to a satisfying and well-structured narrative. They excel in world-building and character development, crafting immersive experiences that captivate readers with their thoroughness and coherence.
Methodological Pantsers: Operating with a loose framework, these authors embark on their writing journeys with a general idea but allow their stories to evolve organically. They embrace spontaneity, often surprising even themselves with the directions their narratives take. Despite the lack of detailed planning, their stories remain compelling, driven by the sheer force of creativity and imagination.
Intuitive Plotters: With a deep understanding of story structure, these authors craft their narratives with a keen sense of purpose and direction. While they may not adhere strictly to outlines, their stories are intricately plotted with layers of meaning and symbolism. Each element serves a purpose, contributing to the overall coherence and resonance of the work.
Intuitive Pantsers: These authors trust in their instincts, diving into their writing with little premeditation. They rely on intuition and spontaneity, allowing the story to unfold naturally as they explore characters and themes. While their process may seem chaotic, their narratives possess a raw energy and authenticity that draw readers in. They are unafraid to take risks, often producing works that are bold, original, and deeply personal.''

I feel like I've improved a lot at writing recently. Writing comes more easily to me, and I feel like the flow of my writing reads much better now. I can more easily create effects that I want with my writing.
It's possible that I'd only improved in my eyes by adapting my writing to my own preferences, but that's what's creating my dilemma.
I wanted to help others by sharing what I did to improve, but realised that this is harder than it sounds. I feel like I could give either very general advice (practice writing more!) or advice that's way too specific, possibly only applicable to me.
Everyone has their own writing style, and I don't feel like it's my place to tell others what writing rules to follow. Sure, I've taken on some writing advice, but I've also ignored plenty!
So, I guess this is the only advice I can give:
Look at sources that explain the effects certain pieces of advice are meant to give your writing. I loved reading blogs that explained reasoning for their advice, because I felt like I could choose my own rules to mold my writing to what I want it to be. I see them less like "rules" and more like "tools" to create what you want to create.

I feel like I go through inspiration in waves. For weeks, I might struggle to get a single sentence out, unable to even edit existing work.
Then suddenly, all I want to do is write, somehow typing out a thousand clean words an hour.
I've found that it's better to ride those waves instead of trying to force them. Maybe, while I'm struggling to write, something else will come easier - maybe it's art, maybe gardening.
What helps is not feeling like I've abandoned a project just because I hadn't worked on it in weeks. It helps to look at what I've already done sometimes, and if there's no inspiration, put it away without guilt. Maybe it's just how my brain works, but eventually I end up not wanting to put it down and end up working on it for hours.

I read the first chapter of Sierpentine and it's very good! I love the atmosphere of it so far, and I can't wait to read more. The description sounds very interesting.
(Writeblr) Introduction:
Definition: An "intro-duction" is a single-eyed movement made at the start of a conversation. (See root word "duction").
Bio:
Multi-cellular Carbon Based lifeform from planet Earth, subsection Australia. Every 2^256 seconds my SHA-256 hash collides with that of a local neighbourhood cat. Hijinks ensue. I'm interested in: * Mathematics * Writing * Eusocial Bees * 日本(語) Mathematics is at the root of how we understand the word, and I think it's an awful shame that it's underutilized in fiction. The development of modern day mathematics is deeply rooted in the physical reality of the world in which we live, and what little we understand of that world is deeply routed in the mathematics which we're able to comprehend. While every character in a book might not be a mathematician, maths is going to be happening around them, and that'll find a way of trickling its way into their lives. I want my writing to reflect this.
Current Work(s):
Sierpentine (Currently one very small chapter): https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/87085/sierpentine Alex dedicated her life to her work as an emergency nurse, bringing people back from the very brink of death. In her twilight years, long after the death of her husband, she embarks on a state sponsored suicide mission to halt the spread of a deadly disease. After her death, she's whisked away to a land of winged angels and relative peace. Still, however, absent her husband; and present the ever encroaching threat of death. What possible meaning can Alex garner from her life spent keeping people further away from paradise? Is there a life after death after death? And how do you plan beyond the limits of knowledge?
A book which I can't name without doxing myself :)
