something i don’t see people talk about enough is how, when the witness is finally struck down, it refers to itself as “i”, not “we” for the first time.

i feel like it’s really symbolic of how, even though it is made up of hundreds of faces of darkness, it is simply one being that has its own selfish wants and desires, and ultimately, it is alone.

i love the way destiny handles death and immortality. i always think about saladin’s i didn’t even know someone with the traveler’s gift could die… until they did from rise of iron. i always think about spider’s you lightmongers never cease to amaze me. you deal with violence so easily, and suffer loss so poorly. such fragile killers. from season of the hunt. that despite being dead things themselves guardians are uniquely unequipped to handle the deaths of other immortals. that it’s almost worse because it’s a surprise. and this doesn’t even get into how guardians handle mortal deaths, how safiyah and hakim haunt zavala for countless times the lifetimes he lived with them. grief makes guardians feel so very human
