Final arrangements made. The bricks I have made an instillation from are what I have been experimenting with since beginning this project, and are the materials that have been used in the installation of the patio shown in my photographs.

FUCK sake! Managed to smash one of my frame so have had to go out and buy a new set. Luckily the frames are better than the original ones I had!

Rethink..
After looking at my slabs a bit more I have decided to go back to the basics. I have bought together all my experiments and bricks I have been playing around with and arranged them together to see what happens. After arranging them onto the pallets I feel they work a to better and are more in keeping with my style of work and theme. These bricks link to my prints in the sense that they are all taken from the same landscaping job and show the link I have taken from my journey from Contemporary Art and Design, into Garden Designing.

Theres something I’m not entirely sure about with my exhibition. I think it might be the slabs?? are they too literal?? too colourful?? Need a good rethink!

Exhibition
My space is completely up, built and painted now. I have spent the last few days playing around with my frames, pallets, lights, plinths and slabs seeing what works better in my space, and what doesn't. I am thinking of maybe just displaying the one slab because I feel displaying the two will look too cluttered and the one, appears more professional.

Experimenting with paint. I’ve been playing around with paint on my slabs because I don't feel like the drawings were working as a final outcome. I feel that the drawings were more garden design based and fit in better with what I am trying to show, however the paintings feel like more complete pieces of art and will work better in my space and draw more attention.

Stress
With my finger causing a problem I’ve had to put a hold on all of my work so far and give my finger a rest because I’m making it more painful and the infection worse. Unsure how I can get round this dilemma apart from waiting it out and hoping my slabs work!

Been having a major dilemma with my slabs. I really wanted to make them appear sketchy and have this diagram quality to it. However once drawing onto the slabs they seemed to loose the quality that I was after and got lost in the size of the slabs. Might experiment further onto them and see what else I can do.

Exhibition set up is going really smoothy this year, with a decent amount of people mucking in where possible! Unfortunately I’ve managed to get my finger infected and have to wear a sling for the week so am finding it hard to get involved as much as I would like to. I will still make sure my attendance is excellent so I can get involved as much as.

Designs for the slabs.
I have had the idea of drawing onto slabs from the beginning of my project. I have chosen to draw in a sketch, design style because of how I am still learning my drawing skills and artistically it looks better. I have been researching different Garden Designs in different countries, and taken influences from them to create designs. I enjoy the idea of how I am looking at Garden design, then transferring back to a traditional material used by a landscaper.

Finally got the slabs delivered today. Need to plan and brainstorm what I will be drawing onto them.

Next Steps
I have been playing around with different patio designs inspired but a Tudor garden. I have dawn this onto a paving slab, with the idea that the slabs would be what the main design that the patio are would be made up of. This has come out rather successfully. I have experimented with leaving and rubbing out my guidelines used when drawing the design, where I have found that I prefer the the design with the guidelines left visible. I feel this is important to me because it shows the process I have been though and personally to me symbolises the process between Contemporary Art and Design, to developing onto Garden Design.

Example of one of my final prints for the exhibition. I will have 3 different prints which will all be hung and framed in my space.
