I can't now find where I mentioned it earlier but I wanted to expand on a thought about Black Sails as a tragedy. It's not so much about individual characters reaching particular endings. Rather, I think the central tragedy is that there is this fight - this war against the world, against civilization itself, which is the driver for everything Flint does and arguably the entire plot - that then doesn't take place. The story goes right up to the brink of this conflict, and by the end it's not just Flint raging alone against the world with whatever pirates can be persuaded to follow him, but it's Madi and the slave revolt and an entire people driven by what has been done to them and to their ancestors, it's something so much bigger than the individuals involved, with potentially world-changing consequences, history-changing consequences, an entire overturning of the colonising powers in the Americas.
And therein lies the tragedy, because we know the history, and we know that this story isn't just a Treasure Island prequel, it's interwoven with historical individuals as well and places itself in that context, and invites us to imagine what could have been while at the same time haunted by the spectre of how history actually plays out. The tragedy is that the war never happened. We know from the beginning that the war against civilization could never have been won in this story, but it still invites the imagining - what if, what if?
And so the audience is forced into the position of Silver, who is confronted with this vision of the future so ardently pursued and believed in by Madi and Flint, and cannot imagine it playing out. Silver, because he never believed in this fight to begin with and only knows that he will lose the ones he loves to it; us, because no matter how much we may believe in the cause, we know that they don't win, that there never was a slave uprising and pirate revolt that overturned the entire New World. Silver cannot bring that future about. All he can do is end the story.
Black Sails asks us to imagine, what if the treasure was not just a chest of gold, but an entire possible future that was killed and buried in the ground on a lost and forgotten island?

Fire Lord Zuko passing a law that forbids challenging anyone under the age of majority to Agni Kai
Fire Lord Zuko waiting until the day he reaches the age of majority to pass this law, lest anyone think he is a coward
(No one. Literally no one would have thought that, but it’s generally regarded as a very classy move regardless)

Is there a more or less direct translation of the English verb "to suck" as in "this thing is bad and I don't like it"? I've seen apestar being used this way, but I'm not sure. If there isn't a single verb you can use in most cases, how can you phrase it without having to say no me gusta every time. Sometimes, when I tried to make a sentence, a simple no me gusta sounded weird.
A few examples for phrases that I struggle to translate:
I'm sorry, I can't translate this, my Spanish sucks.
This pen sucks, better use the other one.
Urgh, it sucks so much that my train is always delayed.
"No me guste que el tren siempre tenga una demora" doesn't really hit the same way.
apestar is the default way they tell you to do it
The other default ways are ser malísimo/a or as an adverb (or adverb) fatal like escribe fatal "he/she is awful at writing" or lo hablo fatal "I'm terrible at speaking (it)"
You can also say no servir like no sirve para nada "it's useless" or "it doesn't work at all" [or said of people it's "good for nothing" basically]
Sometimes people will use qué fastidio for "that sucks" instead of apesta though it's more like "what a pain" or "that's so annoying"
...
I'm not sure what the more colloquial words are for it. Followers?

Has anyone else like, forgotten people can still think you're attracted to anyone? Like, I meet new people and I forget they think that I feel romantic/sexual attraction
Like, ew, I'm being Perceived As A Romantic/Sexual Being
They think I'm flirting when I'm just out here trying to interact with people

Coat of Arms update
Thank you everyone for your feedback! We will be using the structure of an heraldic achievement. Often these are referred to as coat of arms, but they are different. However, throughout this project, we will mostly use the term coat of arms since it's more familiar to people unfamiliar with the project who may come across our posts (also many official sources use coat of arms and heraldic achievement interchangeably) Heraldic achievement anatomy:
Some of you pointed out the rule of tincture: The rule of tincture is a design philosophy found in some heraldic traditions that states "metal should not be put on metal, nor colour on colour". After chatting with Francesco, we have decided not to adhere to this philosophy as we want to use each pride flag's own colors and make sure the designs are still easy on the eyes. Since these coat of arms are going on the flags, it’s important they feel cohesive and vibrant! Also, same as with the playing cards project, we will be taking our creative freedom and not strictly follow traditional principles. We both feel this is necessary to actually make this project work. Some of you also commented you wanted to see creatures from mythology around the world. We will do that whenever we feel we can do that with respect! Our main goal is to design something for each flag that is meaningful, beautiful, and poetic.
Thanks again for all your input and support! Can’t wait to share more soon! ⚔️🌈
~ Roderick
