Oh, and he might have something important to confess to John...

this fic very neatly ignores all the aspects of canon i think i are messed up, and gifts us with: the softest sherlock, a (subtly) smitten john, glorious parentlock, and an absolutely adorable rosie 🥺 seriously, rosie and sherlock's relationship here will make your eyes well up. he loves her so much, god. i love it when fics lean into sherlock's soft side, and while there are different interpretations of it, i think Your Daughter does it perfectly.

But I will say that this fic begins as a Daddy kink fic and then transforms into something else. It's mainly an exploration of consent and identity and vulnerability and communication and agency and trust building and and and and.... I'll let the tags speak for the rest of it. This happens through sex. Lots and lots of sex. Some of the sex is kinky, but it is always switchy, switchy sex. Neither character is exclusively a top, neither one is exclusively a bottom, in fact I aim to make you question what those things mean. The Moriarty plot was very tangential to my wanting to write this story, but provides much of the urgency, so take it as you will, squinting from far away, perhaps ;) Your comments are very important to me. Accidental Magic

Soon after his return (TEH), Sherlock takes the case of a woman seeking stolen books hidden in her late husband’s library. He invites John to come with him. Working together after so much time apart, they begin to discover more than stolen books.

This isn’t really a story about magic, except for the ordinary kind of magic that happens when people realise they’re in love and it’s time to do something about it. That kind of magic is the best kind.

This is the first of what will be nine chapters. POV Sherlock Holmes; Mary Morstan is mentioned but never on stage. Takes place after The Empty House.

Hey everyone!

Hope you guys all had a wonderful new year, and I for one am glad that 2021 is done and over with. It’s been a wild year, and fic-rec wise, I am ashamed to say that I really didn’t read many new Sherlock fics this year. For some reason, I just kept fandom hopping the latter half of the year, mostly because I was too stressed to even start anything new and enjoy it; when I read new Johnlock fics I have to “tag as I read” so that I can file them properly later for you guys. That part felt like a monumental task when I literally couldn’t sleep anymore. I instead did a lot of re-reading of old faves, and indulged in my other fandom loves since doing so was mostly brainless, hahah.

Please don’t take that the wrong way… I love reading Johnlock, but as a fic rec blog that primarily recs fics I’ve read, it’s easier to do the work as I read, and I just… didn’t have it in me. So I am truly sorry in that regard. Thankfully, the community has made up for my slacking 100-fold by helping us discover new stuff all year long. For that I am grateful.

Anyway, all of that was meant to explain why I don’t have a full 25 Johnlock Bookmarks list this year. It has been 4 years since Mary died and Eurus escaped John has moved back into 221B so that Sherlock and mrs Hudson can help raise Rosie and John can go back to helping Sherlock with cases. It has been great for Sherlock having the Watsons back at 221B but it has been harder and harder to hide his feeling for John so he seeks advice from some of his closest friends.

Kaleidoscope Ch. 1 posted

Kaleidoscope

starts with a classic fic premise: after Mary shot Sherlock, John moved out on Mary and back to 221B.

In HLV, all the main characters were apparently in suspended animation until Christmas Day, never talking about … anything, and John’s t-shirt mantra was “I don’t understand.”

In Kaleidoscope, while Sherlock’s out of commission John has to work out what happened: why Mary fetched up in his clinic in the first place, why Sherlock is lying about her “surgical” shot, why Mycroft is protecting Magnussen–and what to do about Magnussen, for that matter. Since John can’t trust any of them to tell him the truth, he’ll have to play them all against each other.

So yes, once again, in this fic John Watson is Pretty Damn Smart. Smart enough to put one over on Sherlock Holmes–even though There Was Only One Bed.

This @fandomtrumpshate fic is written for @t-dalo as a gift to @thegirlfromthesouth: two angst-hounds, bless them, whereas I am a fluffpuppy trying to live up to the request for angst, over the protests of my fluffy muse. Kaleidoscope is complete and will update every five days or so.

At the end of a long case, John and Sherlock take a cab back home, and on the way John scoots over until their arms are pressed together, and he leans his head on Sherlock’s shoulder, breathing in the scent of wool and rain and sweat, and he says, “Okay, tell me how you solved it now” and he closes his eyes, and Sherlock winds their fingers together, stroking the back of John’s hand, and he recounts his every deduction in a soft murmur against John’s temple until they arrive back at Baker Street, and at the end of it John just smiles softly and says “Amazing.”
