Final Integration of Sound Effects
In the end, we decided to integrate the protagonist's monologue throughout various spaces and sections of the corridor. However, we encountered a challenge when trying to adjust the sound so that it would only play when the player approached certain areas. Despite several attempts, we couldn't overcome this obstacle. Moreover, since all the dialogues played simultaneously, it was difficult for players to discern each storyline's content clearly. As a solution, we merged the entire audio monologue together. Upon entering the game, the monologue begins playing, allowing players to hear the progression of the entire story while exploring the game.
The monologue primarily recounts the protagonist's initial confusion about their surroundings, gradually recalling their memories as they traverse through the classroom, bathroom, and room. Each space serves as a backdrop for recounting various experiences, providing players with insights into the overall storyline and its progression.
This represents the final culmination of our spatial design. Through Styly, we gained significant insight into VR, a software we had no prior experience with. It was unexpected to develop a VR game that others could enjoy, and the process sparked a newfound interest in VR for me. I hope to design more unique VR games in the future.

Outdoor Environment Design
When the protagonist finally emerges from the exit, they step into the outside world, which essentially represents their afterlife. Stretching endlessly before them is the vast expanse of the sea, with a giant whale trapped in a fishing net in the sky. The purpose of designing this scene is to symbolize the protagonist's inner world. Perhaps the protagonist identifies with the trapped whale, metaphorically expressing how despite living in the vast ocean of life, they feel ensnared by their desires and struggles, ultimately leading them to seek release in death.
The outdoor setting is illuminated by colorful auroras and vibrant skies, creating a striking contrast with the underwater theme while intertwining with each other, evoking a sense of discordant tranquility. This scene marks the conclusion of the story, where the protagonist finds closure in their journey.

Corridor Design
Designing the corridor proved to be one of the most challenging tasks, as the original scan was of the school's art corridor. However, due to its excessive length and the multitude of colors on the walls, the file size became too large to import into STYLY. Even when we attempted to extract only half of it, we still couldn't integrate the entire staircase corridor into STYLY.
Consequently, we opted to redesign the corridor into an L-shaped layout with numerous doors. These doors symbolize various experiences and memories in life, with only a few doors open to reveal past memories. Details such as lighting fixtures and ceiling pipes were added to enhance realism. The most troublesome aspect was the need for multiple revisions to ensure the complete corridor's successful creation. There were often instances where the model appeared intact in Blender but had holes or incomplete sections when imported into STYLY, requiring numerous attempts and modifications to achieve the final design.
On the floor, I added flickering red and blue lights, while the corridor was filled with suspended particles reminiscent of underwater gases, creating the sensation of traversing an underwater tunnel. As players enter, a spotlight illuminates the floor beneath their feet, with a door in the background. Along the way, they pass through classrooms, bathrooms, and finally, the room, before reaching the exit at the end.

Room Model Design.
The protagonist's room serves as the final battleground of their inner turmoil and the last line of defense for their psyche. It's a place where the protagonist's innermost thoughts are laid bare, explaining the reasons behind their decision to end their life by jumping into the sea. The room is adorned with numerous floating fluorescent lights and a giant face representing the protagonist's monologue. On the walls, I included writings reflecting the protagonist's final thoughts, which revolve around the betrayal by trusted friends who spoke ill of them behind their back. Despite considering these friends as confidants, discovering their betrayal plunged the protagonist into deep reflection and depression, ultimately leading to the decision to end their life.
In terms of design, aside from the customary red and blue lighting, I incorporated candlelight and abstract paintings of faces, transforming the room into a space of ultimate self-struggle.

Bathroom Model Design.
Due to space constraints, we combined models of two bathrooms for the scene. Initially, we constructed the exterior model of the bathroom and then integrated and assembled the two scanned models together. The right side features the toilet area, while the left side is the shower cubicle.
This setting aims to depict the protagonist's memories of being bullied in the bathroom during their school days. Through narrated descriptions, the story context is vividly reconstructed, with instances like profanity on the bathroom walls gradually affecting the protagonist's psyche. In terms of lighting, we primarily utilized red lighting to create a sense of oppression and fear throughout the space.

Classroom Model Design.
In terms of classroom modeling, we began by importing the scan files into Blender and proceeded to model the entire room along with some adjustments to refine details and smooth out rough edges or textures from the scans. Integrating scanning and modeling techniques allowed for a more seamless fusion of real and virtual elements, enhancing the overall spatial perception.
For the lighting design in the classroom, I added flickering red and blue lights to create a sense of suspense and unease. Additionally, I incorporated reflections resembling those of the deep sea, as the story ultimately reveals that the protagonist's memories take place underwater, where he ends his life. Deep blue ocean effects were also applied to the classroom windows, while the projection screen displayed a dynamic video of black waves. Initially, there were technical difficulties in displaying the video during testing, but it played normally with sound after subsequent VR testing.
I also included elements such as messages like "HELP" or derogatory remarks from friends on desks and windows to highlight the protagonist's inner turmoil and the verbal abuse experiences.

Site scanning and preliminary model construction.
During the storyboarding phase, we intend to arrange the narrative using four distinct scenes. To explore feasible inspirations, we've searched within STYLY, and one intriguing concept we found is the Midnight Ghost Cafe. Its model structure combines both modeling and 3D scanning techniques, creating a sensation of simultaneous reality and virtual environment immersion. Hence, we've opted to integrate modeling with 3D scanning to unify all our scenes.
However, we initially encountered challenges due to the immense scale of the modeling, exceeding STYLY's import capacity. Consequently, we decided to compose the scenes separately rather than attempting to import all scenes at once.

Project 2- A moment in time
Concept:
It is a story with the theme of school bullying. This may be something that everyone has experienced at one time or another, and we hope it will inspire our common feelings.
From a happy childhood as the background of the story, he was ridiculed by his classmates in the classroom after entering the school, who gave him an unpleasant nickname.
When he went into the bathroom, he was met with dirty water thrown at him by his classmates, wetting him all over. He felt very painful, but no one could understand him and comfort him.
He went home, hoping his parents would understand him, but they ignored him. His last hope was dashed.
Finally, he walked up the long staircase leading to the rooftop, the light in the distance getting closer and closer.
Narrated from the first point of view.
Take the audience through an immersive experience of the main character.
Taking the loss of time as the main timeline.
Different times in the timeline are chosen as the pivot points, and different scenes are derived to carry out the detailed narrative.
Approaches to storytelling
We’re going to use Embedded Narrative to tell stories through the environment.
Embedded Narrative: the game space becomes a memory palace whose contents must be deciphered as the player tries to reconstruct the plot. Recorded voice is probably the easiest way to spread the storytelling aspect of your project across the space.
Plot of story
First scene: Bedroom
We will use 3d scans to scan the entire bedroom.
LOGLINE: He had a very happy childhood with a positive atmosphere.
Warm color images with warm background music.
Elements: teddy bear, Peppa Pig’s sheets, IKEA baby shark, children’s book
Sound Effects: interspersed with his parents’ words of concern and expectations for him.

2. Second scene:Classroom
We will use 3d scans to scan the long corridor and the entire classroom.
LOGLINE:He made new friends and experienced a pleasant campus life with warm colors and cheerful music in the background. Suddenly he slowly found himself ostracized by his classmates. He also heard his classmates saying bad things about him.
Sound Effects: the school bell ringing, the sound of students chasing and fighting in the corridor, the sound of the teacher speaking in class. The background sound suddenly became very quiet. Whispers and jeers rang out.

3. The third scene: Toilet
Uses the toilet from his middle school days as part of his experience with school bullying. The whole restroom is scanned using 3D scans and various sound elements are used.
LOGLINE: He suffers bullying from his classmates, and after being splashed while using the restroom, his classmates also laugh at him.
Sound Effects: add the sound effect of the splashed water and use violin music to create a lonely atmosphere.

4. The fourth scene: Bedroom
He came home.
We will use 3d scans to scan the entire bedroom.
LOGLINE: He cried in the cluttered room, where abusive notes littered the floor.
Sound Effects: parents scolding, things being thrown to the floor, the sound of slapping, crying.
He walked in the dark corridor:
We will use 3d scans to scan the long and dark corridor.
LOGLINE: He walked down a dark hallway with messy writing and photos on both sides of the wall. The lights in the hallway were flashing. He walked slowly to the end of the corridor, where there was a light.
Sound Effects: The sound of light bulbs flashing, the wind, doors opening, footsteps.

Tools
We use 3D scanner to scan all scenes, integrate all scenes and sound effects in style and create projects.
Challenges:
We are not very particularly familiar with software, and it takes some time to study it.
And we need to scan more scenes, the workload will be relatively large. And try to put different 3D model in a same scene.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Film Social Media Promotion
Reviews of Films(THE NEW BOY) in Production
During my last day of internship, I spent the morning assisting with the preparation of promotional materials for tomorrow's screening of "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." This involved creating content and gathering information for the film's promotion, as well as working on advertising campaigns for social media platforms. Although I won't be able to watch the movie tomorrow, I'm still thrilled to have been part of the team during its release.
In the afternoon, I went to the cinema to watch a newly edited version of "The New Boy." Although the film had been released last year, the director decided to make some modifications to certain scenes, so I had the opportunity to view the updated cut. "The New Boy" unfolds as a tale of survival amidst the rugged landscape of Outback Australia in the 1940s, against the backdrop of World War II. The film commences with a gripping scene where the titular character finds himself embroiled in a serious confrontation with the police. Following his capture, the New Boy is unceremoniously transported to a remote orphanage in the Outback, encapsulating the harsh realities of the era.

Led by Sister Eileen, portrayed sternly by Cate Blanchett, and her compassionate counterpart Sister Mum, played by Deborah Mailman, the orphanage becomes a focal point of the narrative. The visually expressive storytelling, heavily laden with symbolism, draws viewers into the captivating storyline. Through Warwick Thornton's masterful cinematography, the film showcases the breathtaking yet desolate landscapes of remote Australia, capturing the stark beauty and grandeur of its vistas.
As the plot unfolds, "The New Boy" delves deep into themes of resilience, identity, and the pursuit of belonging, offering audiences a compelling cinematic experience that resonates long after the credits roll.
After watching the film, I was not only struck by its stunning visuals but also by its profound emotional depth. I offered some feedback, such as discrepancies between audio and visual elements in certain scenes or issues with the volume of voiceovers. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have watched the film and provided valuable insights.

Reflection :
Through this internship experience, I gained a deeper understanding of the film industry. I discovered that many individuals working in the industry are deeply passionate about films, and it's this passion that often leads to the creation of cinematic masterpieces. I learned that editors and sound designers, among others, strive for perfection to ensure that a film reaches its full potential. In just six days, I've gained invaluable experiences and insights, and I hope to use this experience as a foundation for further growth in the film industry.

Analysis and Categorization of Previous Film Posters
Reviews of Films in Production
This morning, I helped assemble the desks needed for the company and then delved into analyzing some of the classic films previously produced by the company, such as "THE GREAT GATSBY," "LION," "MATRIX," and more. I also organized many of the past movie posters, categorizing them by year and production aspects. Through this, I noticed details I hadn't paid attention to before, such as the font used on the posters. I realized that if the font is too messy or abstract, it can confuse viewers or even affect the number of people going to the cinema. So, I categorized some posters with clear and simple fonts and those with overly abstract ones, understanding that straightforward fonts often ensure box office success. Additionally, I found that the length of the movie title also impacts box office performance. Generally, a title with two words is most suitable, as longer titles can make the audience feel overwhelmed.
I also analyzed the composition design of many movie posters and discovered that if there are too many characters on a poster, it can make it feel chaotic and complicated. Unless it's a superhero movie where all characters need to be included, I believe that having 3-4 characters on a poster is the most visually appealing.

In the afternoon, after completing routine tasks, I went to the cinema to watch another completed and ready-to-release film. It's a suspense thriller about a protagonist returning home for his mother's funeral and encountering a long-lost sister, who is also possessed by their mother's spirit, leading to a reunion through an unconventional means. The film was set in a beautiful house in New Zealand, with a backdrop of a lake and mountains. Directed by Dany Cooper, an Australian director, the visuals were stunning, with every frame rich in symbolism and color. The lead actor is Dacre Montgomery, an Australian actor whom I admire and coincidentally saw briefly during my internship here a few days ago. It's worth mentioning that Chris Hemsworth was also in the company a week before my internship began, participating in the recording for the film "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." Although I was excited to hear about it, I maintained a professional attitude towards encountering celebrities in the workplace.
Reflection:
In the morning, I contributed to assembling desks for the company before delving into the analysis of classic films previously produced, such as "The Great Gatsby," "Lion," and "The Matrix." Sorting through past movie posters, I discovered the significance of font choice and title length in influencing audience perception and box office success. This newfound understanding of composition design, particularly regarding the optimal number of characters on a poster, further enriched my appreciation for the art of visual storytelling in film promotion.
In the afternoon, I had the privilege of watching a completed film, immersing myself in its suspenseful narrative and visually stunning cinematography.
Reflecting on encounters with renowned actors like Dacre Montgomery and Chris Hemsworth during my internship, I maintained a professional demeanor while appreciating the unique opportunities afforded by working in the film industry. Today's experiences not only broadened my knowledge but also deepened my passion for the artistry and craftsmanship behind filmmaking.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Film Countdown Poster Creation and Social Media Promotion
Learning Film VFX Production and Tools
This morning began with routine cleaning tasks before delving into the reading of a script in development for a film titled "KANGROO." After writing some coverage for it, I shifted gears to work on the countdown poster design for the film "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." Later, I visited one of the company's cinemas to view snippets of films and witness the final adjustments in sound design and color grading.

The experience was truly awe-inspiring as it was my first time witnessing how surround sound systems in cinemas provide audiences with the most immersive viewing experience, complete with lifelike sound effects. This allows filmmakers to better tailor the viewing experience for maximum audience enjoyment.
In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to learn from a film special effects engineer. He was working on the same film, "RUNT," that I had observed being produced on my second day of the internship. He asked me about my future aspirations in the film industry and emphasized the importance of directors considering post-production aspects. Many directors overlook these aspects, but they are critical in achieving desired results. For instance, he faced challenges due to insufficient lighting and lack of fixed markers during filming, which made post-production work difficult and resulted in unexpected flaws and errors in the final product. He shared valuable insights on what directors should be mindful of during filming to facilitate smoother post-production processes.
I also learned about scene modeling and character animation in films, including software selection, effects design, and lighting considerations. Visual effects (VFX) are essentially digital design for filmmaking, requiring meticulous attention to detail from conception to execution. I gained insights into his journey from an animator to a film special effects engineer and learned about the time-consuming rendering process involved in VFX work. Despite the challenges, his passion for film serves as his driving force, highlighting the importance of pursuing what one loves in any profession.
Flection:
Today was a day of rich learning experiences across different facets of filmmaking, from script reading and poster design to witnessing final adjustments in sound and color grading at a cinema. The immersion into surround sound systems underscored the significance of creating an immersive viewing experience for audiences. Later, insights from a film special effects engineer shed light on the often-overlooked aspects of post-production, emphasizing the importance of directors considering these elements during filming. Learning about scene modeling and character animation in films provided further appreciation for the meticulous craftsmanship required in visual effects work. Throughout these encounters, the passion and dedication of industry professionals served as inspiring reminders of the importance of pursuing one's passions in any profession. Today's experiences not only expanded my understanding of filmmaking but also reinforced the importance of attention to detail and perseverance in achieving success in the industry.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Film Poster Creation and Social Media Promotion
Learning Film Sound Effects Production and Tools
This morning, I was involved in preparing promotional materials for an upcoming film, "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." We disseminated advertising content, including posters, on various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. My responsibilities primarily revolved around creating the posters and writing promotional copy. Through this process, I learned a lot about professional poster promotion and the key elements to consider in commercial advertising content, such as crafting attention-grabbing headlines and designing posters that align with the film's promotional goals.
In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to shadow a film sound designer and music composer to learn about their work. I gained insights into using sound design software like Pro Tools, which coincided with my current coursework in sound design. I seized the chance to learn additional techniques not covered in class but crucial in actual film production.
The sound designer was working on editing sound effects and music for a CGI animation. I learned how a single sound can be manipulated in numerous ways and transformed into various effects. For instance, in the animation, a dragon roared as it flew onto the screen. Since dragons are fictional creatures, the sound designer used bird calls to create the dragon's roar. Initially skeptical, I was amazed to witness the transformation of bird calls into convincing dragon roars, highlighting the versatility of sound. I also learned that sound designers undergo extensive testing and sourcing of sound materials to create the most suitable effects, rather than simply applying pre-existing sound assets. This realization made me reflect on my previous use of generic sound effects in editing, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Later, during class at school, I applied the knowledge I gained from using Pro Tools to our coursework assignments. This learning experience sparked a significant interest in music production and Foley sound design for me, despite initially having limited exposure to these aspects.
Reflection :
Today was a transformative day filled with diverse learning experiences in the realm of film promotion and sound design. In the morning, I delved into the intricacies of creating promotional materials for "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," gaining valuable insights into crafting compelling advertising content across various platforms. Later, shadowing a film sound designer and music composer provided me with a deeper understanding of sound manipulation techniques and the meticulous process of creating immersive auditory experiences for films. Witnessing the transformation of ordinary sounds into extraordinary effects was awe-inspiring, igniting a newfound passion for music production and Foley sound design. This day not only broadened my knowledge but also sparked a profound appreciation for the artistry and creativity involved in film sound design, leaving me eager to explore further in this field.

Script reading and coverage writing
Film Promotion Poster Design and Online Marketing Analysis
Reviews of Films in Production
Today, my main task was to work on script coverage. Since I don't usually read scripts with such a large volume of pages, I initially felt some pressure. However, as I progressed, I gradually became more accustomed to reading scripts and appreciating the director's techniques and clever dialogues. Given my inclination towards directing and scriptwriting, this experience was incredibly beneficial for me.

In the afternoon, I helped the company produce promotional articles and posters for a sci-fi thriller film called "STING," which was premiering that day. I had to consider various aspects to effectively target the film's audience and highlight its key features.
After completing the poster, I watched a film called "RUNT" in the company's internal cinema. The movie depicts life in a remote Australian town where scarcity of resources, including water and electricity, poses significant challenges, mainly due to the corrupt actions of the wealthy town manager. One day, the town organizes a dog agility challenge, offering the winner a chance to compete in the UK finals and win a substantial prize. The protagonist enters the competition with her dog, who initially struggles due to shyness. However, with perseverance and rigorous training, they earn the opportunity to compete in the UK. Despite facing numerous challenges during the UK competition, they don't win the grand prize. Nonetheless, their story captures global attention, leading to the town's revival and the arrest of the corrupt town manager.
As the film was only 70% complete, there were many flaws in editing and effects. For instance, there were instances where the camera didn't switch appropriately during dialogues, or where background music interrupted dialogue prematurely. Although the film started off with fun and novelty, the ending lacked a clear plot twist or climax. However, considering it's a family-friendly film targeted at children, it still qualifies as a decent comedy for kids.
Reflection:
Today's tasks provided me with a diverse range of experiences in the film industry. From diving into script coverage, where I initially felt pressure but soon found myself appreciating the director's techniques, to contributing to the promotional materials for the sci-fi thriller "STING," and finally, watching the film "RUNT" in the company's cinema. "RUNT" offered a glimpse into life in a remote Australian town and the protagonist's journey to success through perseverance and determination. Despite its flaws, particularly in editing and effects, the film conveyed an uplifting message suitable for a family audience. Overall, today's experiences reaffirmed my passion for directing and scriptwriting while exposing me to the intricacies of film production and promotion.

Capturing the essence of a space
Nightmare(3d scanning)
On my first day in the new apartment, stepping out of the elevator, I encountered a lengthy corridor. Despite the daylight, it shows an oddly dark and mysterious vibe. A strange odor hung in the air, a blend of dampness and decay. Plus, my room number, 404.
That night, I experienced a nightmare.
I felt unease, with echoing footsteps hunting me from the elevator. It seemed like someone was constantly following me, and upon reaching my room, I couldn't open the door. I dashed down the corridor, aiming to flee. However, the endless rows of rooms seemed to stretch indefinitely, leaving me uncertain.
Finally, I hid in the elevator and hoped to escape and then I woke up just before I was about to be caught.
It's curious how certain places evoke memories, no matter good or bad. Space serves as a physical memory, one you can touch and see. This apartment corridor will forever hold memories for me, even after I leave.
In terms of design, I aimed to recreate an environment similar to my dream, so I incorporated a lot of flashing lights to maintain a sense of mystery and create a eerie atmosphere throughout the corridor.
During the filming stage, I shot nearly 20 models, adjusting different shooting formats and effects each time. However, due to the narrow and elongated nature of the set, capturing perfect models posed significant challenges, leading to file size issues when trying to import the models later on.
