“true,” izzy agreed, the other girl making a good point. “but hey, not all of us have shitty taste. i mean...” she looked down smugly, gesturing at her own outfit. “gotta give credit where credit’s due,” she teased.

“Exactly, right? Like I’m sorry did you literally do any of this alone until now? No? So maybe listen to me when I tell you you look boring,” She said smiling at the girl that seemed to understand her. 

izzy laughed at the other girl’s words, pleased with the fact that zara shared her sentiments. “i’ve seen what some people wear on their days off and trust me when i say they’re really benefitting from having you around,” she stated.

“Well someone’s gotta be on your team,” she told. “And I gladly volunteer,” she told. “Now horrible is the people you help who ignore your advice,” she said making a face.

“wouldn’t want it to be anyone else,” izzy replied with a light chuckle. she knew from the beginning there was a reason why she got along so well with zara. “ugh, that’s annoying,” she responded to the other female’s statement “i swear, i can’t with some of these people here. one song hits the charts and they’ll think they know more than they actually do.”

“Oh- thank you!” Zara said her smile widening. “Gotta do my best for my girl,” she told. 

izzy saw the wide smile on zara’s face as she gushed about the outfits. “no, thank you,” she responded. “nice to know not everyone is out to get me in this cut-throat industry.”

a smile immediately came across izzy’s face as she heard zara’s familiar voice. although the two had only hung out once before, they clicked immediately and got along really well. “zara, sweetie!” she exclaimed, the excitement evident in her voice as she threw her arms around zara. “about time you found me,” she teased, pulling away from the hug. “by the way, i just saw the outfits you put together for annie and i for tonight’s show and i’m in love,” she gushed at the other girl. 

“Hey,” Zara said brightly. “I’ve been looking for you,” she told the girl. She truly had been excited when she saw the girl’s duo listed on the lineup. She’d only gotten to meet the other once but did have quite a good time both styling and talking to her so she was excited to get to do a longer project with her. [closed starter for @izzyhqs​]

Lincoln frowned slightly, considering the question. She’d never really thought about what she defined a friend as. “Uh, someone I know and don’t hate?” she offered tentatively with a small laugh. “Just whoever I get along with.”

“someone you know and don’t hate? sounds more like just an affiliate to me,” izzy responded, providing her unsolicited opinion yet again. “but i guess you and i can just agree to disagree.”

Alexa grinned at the girl’s excitement, many happy memories of the club flooding back to her. “I wish I loved tennis– I just always seemed to hit myself in the face with my racket.” She shook her head, laughing at herself. “Now golf, golf is even more rough. I don’t even think I can manage mini golf.” She admitted, eyes widening at Izzy’s store. “What, oh my god! How did that happen? Were you really little?”

“def on the same page as you on that, any form of golf is a no for me,” she agreed with a light chuckle. “not to mention, it’s boring. i honestly have no idea how our dads can spend hours playing it. just a waste of time, if you ask me,” she added, a slight contempt in her tone. “i think i was like 3 or 4?” she laughed as she provided more details about her story. “so here’s the thing, i didn’t really know how to swim yet. i thought i had my arm floaties on, right, and i saw these other bigger kids jumping into the pool. got a little too excited and just jumped right in to the deep end.”

Moony wasn’t sure if she was being serious or sarcastic at this point. “Uh, it came out like two months ago,” He said. Part of him wanted to add that it topped the charts, but he felt like if she was being sarcastic she would already know that. “I don’t know, I could be.”

“yes, moony, i knew that. i also knew that it debuted in the top 10 on the charts,” izzy said to the boy, showing him she actually knew what she was talking about with that extra information. “with a face like yours? c’mon, you and i both know you’re too pretty to be an errand boy,” she teased.

Alexa nodded as Izzy spoke, catching onto the scant bitterness and deciding not to push that point any further. “We are.” Alexa explained. “Well– my parents are, I guess I’m just still under the name but I don’t go all too often anymore. My little sisters love it though, they take a lot of tennis lessons there. I tried one once… but let’s just say tennis wasn’t exactly my thing.”

“oh my gosh, are you kidding, i loved playing tennis there,” izzy exclaimed with evident excitement in her voice as she reminisced about playing tennis back at the calabasas country club and how much fun she had swinging that racket around. “hated golf though, never got into it,” she confessed. “oh! fun fact,” she started, suddenly recalling another country club memory. “one time, i almost drowned in that pool there... obviously, i survived that life-threatening experience. but i swear, i almost saw the light at the end of the tunnel. thank god i’m alive and well and here today.”

Lincoln tried to manage a smile, the tension between herself and Izzy only seemed to be growing, as much as both of them may be trying to diffuse it. “I did say that,” she nodded in agreement. “So that makes us friends?” she wondered, not sure if she was quite picking up Izzy’s point, but figuring it was better to at least try to be on Izzy’s good side than not. 

“i guess,” izzy answered lincoln’s question about them being friends with a small shrug. “i mean, what is your definition of a friend?” as sad as it was, it was kind of evident izzy didn’t have that many close friends in life. it probably had to do with the fact that she never really let anyone get too close because she always refused to let her guard down around people.

Moony wasn’t quite expecting Izzy’s response and he was sure his face showed it. “I mean I wrote and released an album,” He offered. Sure he hadn’t done much else but he also had only been signed to a record label for less than a year. “I was invited to perform in the same tour as you,” He reminded.

“wait, you did? when was that?” izzy asked, scrunching her nose, eager to see his reaction to what she said. obviously, she was just playing with him. being part of the industry meant she was always keeping up with what went on, from scandals to album drops to rising stars. “well, no shit, sherlock,” she laughed when he stated the obvious. “what, did you really think i’d think you were just an errand boy?”

“Thanks,” Lincoln responded again, rubbing the back of her neck somewhat nervously. “I think it’s good for me to get to just feel like a normal person at least some of the time,” she explained with a little shrug. “Especially in a situation like this where I totally don’t feel like a normal person at all,” she let out a small nervous chuckle. She figured anyone would relate to that desire to stay grounded in all of this chaos. She managed an odd kind of smile at Izzy’s words. “Um, that’s good to know, thanks,” she replied, wanting to be able to say the same, but not quite feeling it. 

“normal person, right,” izzy nodded her head slowly, but there was obviously a disconnect in what she was saying and how she felt. coming from a wealthy background, izzy had always been part of an elite group. being pampered and getting to wear nice clothes was something she was already used to, way before she even entered this industry. “you wanted to make friends right? well, you got it,” she responded, referring back to their earlier topic.
