Honestly I wish Neo would just have a way to pay for a "family plan"-style premium subscription for all side accounts.

It would still feel kinda greedy but I know they need to make money somehow, and I think a LOT of people would be willing to just pay a couple more dollars a month/year to include all of their accounts on one payment plan. I think it's utter BS to change the rules to allow premium memberships on side accounts but with all of the same bizarre word of mouth honor system stipulations that side accounts have always functioned under. Just create a premium option that connects to NeoPass and gives someone the blanket benefits across all accounts (90 day Neolodge stays, ad free, etc) while only giving the monetary benefits (goodie bags, fortune cookies, monthly NC items, etc) to the main account!!

Like I'm not kidding I would genuinely pay a little more for this, I think it's a reasonable thing to upcharge for the sake of helping Neo stay afloat financially. It wouldn't hurt f2p players since all it does is give the basic premium perks to every account of premium players, no extra/new advantages, and it wouldn't feel as unbelievably out of touch as asking people who are already paying for the site to pay the full price of a premium membership for side accounts that can't even make use of the majority of the things premium is good for!

Another option, though one I like less, would be creating a "side account premium" or "partial premium" option that's significantly cheaper and only gives basic perks (non-premium users could also potentially just pay for it for their main account, if they wanted some of the basic perks without all of them?), but I'm not as thrilled by the idea of making a bunch of different microtransactions instead of one lump sum, plus I think it would seriously defeat the purpose of NeoPass. Make NeoPass worth it, omg. Make NC trading between accounts free with NeoPass/no giftboxes required. Make a central NP hub so you can move money back and forth (or don't need to move it at all). Why do I have to do an awkward trading post trade to put NP on my own side if I'm connected to NeoPass??

Really, I think the whole "You guys can get Premium on side accounts now!" thing just super super affirms how clunky and imperfect the whole side account system has always been. It really should not be on a need-to-know honor system basis. I should not be worried about accidentally getting my account frozen because I accidentally did a daily on the wrong account, which I only know is an issue to begin with because of offsite guides, ffs. Let us toggle "side account mode" on the actual website lmao. Or... better yet... actually MAKE NEOPASS USEFUL!! 😩😩😩

LOL thank YOU. 💖 Tbh I know sometimes I kinda sound like a hater but I genuinely am not trying to be; I think I said this recently too but I adore Neo, it has such a special place in my heart and has since I was a little kid. I give real money to the site lmao. My criticisms are with love and genuine hope to see improvement!!

As a positive Neopinion in light of my negativity with some of the recent NPC designs, here are some of my personal all time favorite NPC designs (NOT all inclusive!! there are plenty I love I'm not listing here!):

Rosie!! Genuinely adore this character design. Maybe my favorite on-site NPC of all time tbh. Simple and iconic. I think she's just really cute and silly, a little creepy in a good way, and I think it's a super fun use of Grarrls just generally as a species--I love seeing pets going against the grain. I love the colors and her little outfit. Would love to see her used more. The sketch image of her is SO wonderful.

Jazan and Nabile: Everyone loves these two, but man, they're just so lovely. As an Arab guy myself I have a lot of affection for the Lost Desert characters, and I just think they have such evocative, iconic designs. THAT is a good Kyrii!! And they're, like, ridiculously beautiful together as a couple lol. That image of them representing The Lovers for the Tarot deck is to die for.

Sophie continues to have one of thee most iconic designs on the whole site to me. She deserves all the love she gets. What an awesome looking witch design. Can oscillate so well between looking super charming and cutesy and looking mysterious and a bit creepy in a Halloweentown kinda way. I even had a Sophie-themed site lookup for ages as a kid, lmao.

But on the topic of witches, Rasala is another character I'd love to see get more use! I think she's just so beautiful. They translated Bori features to an appealing NPC SOOOO well here, I love the way her snout and ears look lol. As a kid I would pick the Order of the Red Erisim in the Battleground Of The Obelisk just because I thought she was the coolest NPC to come out of it 😭

That said, for Obelisk NPCs, The Duchess is also very cool and I love the concept, but there's so little content of her. :(

The sight of Tormund Ellis will never not make me click my heels in glee. If Tormund Ellis has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Tormund Ellis has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Tormund Ellis has only one fan then that is me. If Tormund Ellis has no fans, then that means I am dead. If the world is against Tormund Ellis, then I am against the world.

Layton Vickles and Tandrak Shaye really are just kind of ridiculously sexy. I mean, I still go with Team Lost Desert every year because I have so much affection for them, but, like... damn. I like looking at them. 👀

He's my brand so I'm legally obligated to say this but idc idc I love the Ixi Chieftain's design I think it's genuinely so cool and sexy and I wish so bad we got to see more of him in any capacity ever. I have had a crush on him since I was like. 7 years old 😭 I think Centaur Neopets is a cool concept that hasn't been explored to its fullest potential and I like his goatee and his eyepatch and his evil color scheme!! (HQ render here!)

Since I've been a hater about "new" Neo NPCs, I'll also throw a bone and say I really like Dr. Ariel Celandine from the Dacardia app. I love scientist women in lab coats (have the biggest crush ever on Doc Ock in Spider-Verse lmao) so I'm heavily biased here but I think she's really cute!! Cute use of an underutilized species, charming design, I love the glasses, I love that she's bald/kinda androgynous. Great work on her imo. Would happily see more of her; wish I actually liked Dacardia enough to keep playing it but alas, just not my thing...

And finally I like the Neopian Printing Press Pteri because she looks like my actual girlfriend :)

Can I be a hater for a min.

I cannot STAND Tavi’s design in TVW. I don’t think I’ve seen a single frame of her I’ve liked. Just literally completely intolerable to me; I straight up hate looking at it. I genuinely can’t believe that of all the possible designs across all of Neopia, both preexisting ones and new ones, all the different beloved NPCs, obscure lore, pet and color combos, customization options they’ve added, they went with a design so bland on a species that the artist(s) involved just… genuinely seem incapable of rendering in an appealing way.

I know there has been issues with and criticisms of TVW’s art in general, but I think at its best the art can be charming, while Tavi just ends up representing the worst of it to me. Like, the panels often look kinda stiff and I think Nyx’s design looks clunky and boring as well, tbh I’m rarely if ever a fan of the design ethos of modern Neopets NPCs, but NONE of it evokes the level of, like, literal disbelief I have when I see Tavi that any panel of her was greenlit to be shared to the site. It’s, like, secondhand embarrassment inducing.

Watching the trailer for the second part and seeing her immediately back with the exact same awful style was like a slap in the face lmao. Like this is how we’re advertising the plot’s triumphant return? 😭

Also, I know that she kinda-sorta existed pre-TVW, but I feel like a couple old Neopedia drawings of an obscure character vs having to see her huge face take up the majority of a panel every time you check in with the plot is a whole different story—And really, she just fit the old style SO much better. Her original design alone was never particularly interesting/unique to begin with, she’s just a red Kyrii, she’s just been “translated” to the modern style so so so badly. All of her spunkiness erased and replaced with… nothing.
