Used to be a Games of Thrones blog now a blog I'm using to debunk any bad Shouto take that I see and unfortuately there are many.

That GIGA 2023 MHA cover and back are just awful. I guessed it wasn’t going to be an original from Horikoshi so was expecting an old drawing and even reused manga panels wouldn’t have been that bad if it didn’t like it was put together by someone who had no clue what they were doing. It looks like a badly put together collage project done by a bunch of 5 year olds.
This was not done by Horikoshi which is fine since he has a lot of work and probably didn’t have time but the team who did could have at least gotten someone who knew what they were doing
Don’t get me started on the disrespect for Shouto.

If there was ever a place for bad Shouto takes then Reddit is it. Most on there don’t even have the basic understanding of Shouto’s character and constantly twist facts.
They also have very bad LOV takes.
#reddit#it's why I haven't been on there for a year or so#it's like a Shouto hating factory over there#and it's too much like a hive mind#I stupidly decide to check out Reddit today for the first time in over a year#it hasn't changed

This is just so heartbreaking! Shouto got very few compliments in his life and to how he views himself is again just so heartbreaking.
Shouto's surprised face every time he receives a compliment / basic affection from someone
When Izuku called him "a kind person"
When Hawks called him cool for his efforts to help his family
The All Might pat and praise that he never got to receive from his own father
And it breaks my heart every time because he admitted that for all this time
This was how he perceived himself

#LOL#Touya's face is totally like I'm too old for this shit even though I'm only like 13-14 years old#Shouto and Uraraka on top of the pile just chilling and everyone else sandwiched in between#Toga and Deku just having a blast and Bakugo trying to break free#at least that's what I'm imagining there

You know what’s both funny and annoying about those who want Shouto to become Endeavour 2.0?
It’s that they already literally have an Endeavour 2.0 in Touya.
So leave Shouto alone he’s going his own way and doesn’t want to become Endeavour 2.0. He wants to be Shouto and he prefers his ice over his fire.
#todoroki shouto#todoroki touya#endeavour#Let Shouto be Shouto#there's already an Endeavour 2.0#Though I hope Touya bridges out a bit more and I'm glad he's copied someone other than Endeavour.

It doesn’t get mentioned but I want to talk about how much Shouto’s phosphor has improved over a very short time.
We are first introduced to the idea that Shouto was working on something new in 336. We see though that he has trouble even activating it at this point which is one of the things he’s figuring out along with maintaining it.
We are finally introduced to what Shouto was working on in 351 flashfire fist: Phosphor, a new technique Shouto created by using flashfire fist and his heart as the base of this new technique. We see a flashback in 352 where Shouto is showing Deku his new technique. Unlike in 336 he is able to activate it but we can tell that Shouto is having trouble maintaining it hence the shake lines
This was only about a day or two before he was going to head out and face Touya meaning that he was going to face Touya with a very imperfected technique that Shouto was still working on.
Then we learn between 350-351 that it has a long charge up time and Shouto needs to charge up the technique first before using it which was one of the reasons why the sidekicks was there so they could give Shouto the time he needed to be able to charge up his new phosphor technique. We can also see him begin to charge up his new technique while Touya is telling him he did come home.
We then see he was able to maintain it for a bit longer than previously and was able to use two attacks on Touya and stop and attack before he lost phosphor and then we see that his charge up was slightly less and was able to charge Phosphor in a matter of seconds instead of a matter of minutes and used his ultimate move great glacial aegir on Touya.
Now fast forward to Shouto arriving at Gunga and we see Shouto activating Phosphor instantaneously with no charge up time whatsoever.
Not only can he activate it instantaneously but maintain it longer and on top of that it’s a stronger version than previously being able to destroy his gauntlets and his temperature proof suit. All this while exhausted.
Shouto’s phosphor improved in such a short time and I feel it doesn’t get the credit and knowledge it deserves. His phosphor technique improved so much in just a space of a couple of days.
And I wish it got more credit because I feel that often many don’t realize Shouto’s talent, skills and that he is a very fast learner and improves at a rapid pace.
It’s the same with flashfire fist. Shouto could already use Flashfire fist even before he was taught it by Endeavour as he was literally going to use it against Tetsutetsu but during Endeavour’s agency arc he was able to hone it and learn everything he can in the space of three months and all the while still working on his ice side and stumbling across a new way he can improved on flashfire fist something that neither Endeavour nor Touya ever thought of.
But in short the amount of how much Shouto improved on phosphor in such a short time is actually quite insane and like I said should deserve way more credit than what is given. Shouto is an extremely talented boy with tons more potential and he’s already at an insanely high level without any quirk awakenings or free power ups.
#Todoroki Shouto#phosphor#Shouto is extremely talented and I wish others got that#like even with his ice and fire he improved so much in a year

I live for Shoto's unique character arc.
The kind that starts off with him badass and strong, but ultimately miserable. That strips him of that initial "cool factor" (literally, in terms of his hero costume) in exchange for a more stable, healthy lifestyle. He fell behind his classmates, yes. And as the story goes on we've seen him act with more restraint and less certainty. But those are not regressions. They show how he is challenging himself to transform the way he interacts with the world around him. To find a life in which he can be happy and surrounded by people who truly care.
It is much more common for characters to start in that place of insecurity and move towards badassery. Because that's what gets the audience's adrenaline running. But simple badassery is not what makes a character cool. Shoto is cool because he cares. He knows the place of deep hurt his brother is living in and wants to help. To love him unconditionally in a way that Toya's never experienced before. Depsite his toxic upbringing, Shoto has become one of the most compassionate characters in bnha. And that's more badass than any heaven piercing ice wall ever could be.

I really hate how we don’t see a lot of Shouto’s progress when it comes to his quirk which causes others to question if he can do that thing like in the first war when he could fly, pretty much everyone questioned it and some even outright argued against it because we never saw the progress of how he was able to do it.
It’s the same as him making constructs out of his ice something he needed help with unless the construct was simple so when Shouto makes an ice jet some even question if it was real and that it could be a symbolism of Iida going as fast as a jet even though it was clear it was an ice jet.
I would have really like to see how Shouto learnt to fly and how he got better at making constructs on his own.
#Todoroki Shouto#It's like one minute he couldn't do something and the next he could#no explanation#for it#nothing#it's annoying because sometimes we got chapters explaining how someone could do something#it's no wonder why Shouto doing something was questioned

Just to remind everyone
That the Todoroki family as a whole did not stop Touya by depowering him which allowed Shouto to come in and deliver the final blow because Touya had been weakened. Touya wasn’t weakened or depowered at all and was growing stronger up until he nearly exploded but was stopped by Shouto.
Just a reminder that Rei, Natsu and Fuyumi slowed down the process of Touya rising his fire to it’s maximum level but did not reverse it or stop it. This is why the explosion was inevitable because all they could do was slow down the process but could not stop or reverse the effects.
So all those who are saying Shouto will never surpass Touya, he literally does just that but instead of gloating or making Touya feel bad he gives credit to his family. He’s not wrong to do so because they were vital and without them Shouto would not have been able to arrive in time but that is where their real help was, giving Shouto time not stopping the explosion. And instead of gloating over the fact he stopped Touya, he decides to instead praise Touya on his fire power and drive. He even basically hands over the masterpiece title to Touya because he knows that he can’t reach the levels Touya has with his fire because it’s not something he can force himself to do because that’s not the path he wants to take.
Shouto has chosen his path which is the opposite of what Endeavour wanted. He has chosen to use his fire as a supportive tool to make his ice much stronger. To Shouto, his ice is his main power and his fire is just merely a tool for him to be able to use his ice at it’s fullest potential whether through phosphor which is more physically draining or through his normal ice which he now has unlimited MP for.
This paves way for Touya to be Endeavour’s true masterpiece and the best fire user around while Shouto’s path way will be as his own person and best ice user around.
I hope though Touya chooses not to be Endeavour’s masterpiece and finds a pathway for himself on his own terms.
#todoroki shouto#Shouto did surpass Touya in more ways than one#Because he was able to do something that Touya was never able to#find a reason for his own existence#it took him a while but he found his purpose#he found his reason#I do hope the same for Touya#and with support I think he too will find reason#but if not he can always be Endeavour's masterpiece because Shouto doesn't want the role#but I find that kind of lacking#but I guess if that's what Touya wants

I might be looking into something that is not there but I find the placement of Endeavour’s hand between Touya and Shouto interesting because it kind of symbolizes how there’s still a gap to be bridged between oldest and youngest brother made by Endeavour. Just yet another reason I don’t believe the Todoroki plot is done and that we’ll go back to it before the epilogue.
Natsu protecting Shouto is everything.
Touya and Shouto laying down next to each other and Natsuo protecting Shouto makes my heart ache and I will be thinking about this for a very long time

Learning that Shouto watched All Might videos on repeat is both so heart-warming and so heart-breaking at the same time. I wish we saw this in the manga though, the scene in the drama CD.
Yeah - I do feel kind of validated because I've spent an embarrassing amount of time in my head trying to reconstruct the Class-A side of the Dark Deku arc and then also the 2 day-gap after Deku's return before All Might comes back with the news about Star.
And a lot of the things I imagined definitely are mentioned in the drama CD.
But I feel like we really would have benefited of some flashbacks or one more chapter of slice of life to clarify those things.
As for Shouto watching All Might - yeah, it is so emotional for me. The anime cut this manga panel that shows tiny Shouto sneaking in and watching All Might alone after Rei was gone and I imagine it was both comfort watching a hero who made him feel reassured and also longing for the time he spent together with his mom.
The anime skipped this panel, but it's just such an important thing to know that Shouto continued to cling to this, which honestly may have prevented him from being worse than he was in middle school.

I just saw on twitter how Toga and Uraraka can’t be together because Toga is too old for Uraraka.
Toga is only 1 year, 4 months and 20 days older than Uraraka; not even 2 years but sure Toga is too old for Uraraka 🙄

Have you seen the latest drama CD translations the way todoroki kept insisting that bakugo and midoriya have become friends again is too cute 😍
Yes, I did! Shouto is soooo sweet!
He's so concerned for Midoriya wanting him to rest, plus to rely on them.
He also seems so happy that Midoriya and Bakugou are proper friends now - it's like the extension of the gag when he called Bakugou his friend during the Endeavor arc and Bakugou kept denying it
Then there is also the reference to the Remedial arc slide and the training they did in the dorms.
I also loved that they confirmed that the class was brainstorming how to catch Deku - so they talked about their combo for sure (and I wonder if they practiced it).
Also Shouto joking at Midoriya being Midoriya-like when he goes on muttering and Iida being Iida-like talking about studying.
And then there is all the stuff planning an activity for the kids - it's my HC that Shouto and Bakugou interacted with the remedial kids in the UA evac camp.
Finally, Shouto saying as his favourite childhood activity watching All Might videos with his mom and then rewatching them. Him and Izuku bond over it.
The whole thing is so cute and wholesome and honestly the content I needed post-war!
