Albedo

When Albedo offered to paint you, you knew you were going to have to smile for a while. Fortunately, Albedo told you to relax until it came time to paint your face. Once he gave the signal you pulled your best smile and Albedo got to work. Albedo finished your smile and then...felt something was off. No problem he'd try again. And again. And again. He was beginning to feel frustrated, what wasn't he capturing that was making your smile look so hollow? What did he need to do to capture its usual brilliance?

Suddenly a BOOM resounded through the air. "aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAA" Both of you looked up to see Klee flying through the air. Immediately you stod up and caught her, the force sending both of you flying back.

"Hi Y/N! Hi big bro Albedo! I think I did an oopsie"

You looked from Klee to the raging fire in the distance and back to Klee. You knew you needed to hold in your laughter, you tried really. You hid your smile behind your hand and yet Albedo could still see your shaking shoulders and...your eyes. How they lit up so brightly and how they wrinkled at the corners. That was the missing part that his painting needed. But his painting could wait. For now, he just wanted to look at the joy held in your eyes.

Ayato

"Thomaa" "Thomaaaa" "Thomaaaaaa"

Ayato had searched the entire estate looking for his housekeeper, a plate of...something in his right hand. That's when he caught sight of his dear Y/N basking in the sun in the garden. "Good morning Y/N, have you perhaps seen Thoma? "Good morning Ayato, Thoma's sick so he's resting now" "Oh, well then it's good that I made this then! I'm sure it will help him feel better" You eyed the food (???) And decided Thoma did not deserve to suffer more than he already did today so you hesitantly said "Actually, Thoma's sleeping right now. But I wouldn't mind trying some" "Would you? Oh I just know you're going to love it" He passed you a pair of chopsticks to somehow pick up the half-liquid dish and... "Mm! This is actually really good!" The flavours complemented each other well and the cool temperature was nice after all the hard work you completed. As you ate more and more, your smile grew. And so did Ayato's. Seeing someone, someone he cherished so much smile so brightly that joy filled their eyes made him so happy. Especially since it was his hard work that made those beautiful eyes shimmer and wrinkle in such an adorable way.

Childe

(I haven't done his story quest so I don't know the exact reason why his eyes are dead but I have a bit of an idea? Please no spoilers)

“There, all done!” Now that both yours and Childe’s chores were done you could go hangout with him. Admittedly he wasn't the best flatmate but you loved him and he made every day fun so all is good.

You looked up at the fading sun and reasoned that Childe should be training around this time. So you stood up and went to the backyard. It was nothing too special, a small vegetable patch and a couple piles of warm-hued leaves, but what WAS special was who was stirring them up. As Childe shot more and more arrows the pout on his face grew. Finally, he threw the last arrow with his left arm, summoned his water blades and elegantly (as elegantly as Childe can be) sliced the training dummy in half. Before slipping on the puddle of water he had created and falling face-first onto the ground. A couple disturbed leaves flew up and settled in his hair. After a few seconds, he sat up with a heavy pout, resulting in you giving away your presence with a loud laugh.

“Y/NNNN” Childe whined.

“Okay okay” you suppressed your laughter once again before walking to him and brushing the leaves out of his hair. Suddenly a mischievous smirk crossed his face and you were been pushed into the leaves.

“Hey!” You laughed before grabbing Childe and pulling him down with you.

The two of you tumbled around for a while, messing up your hair and clothes until you were both tired out and alling back onto the grass laughing. Childe turned to you, ready to start “fighting” again when he noticed how lovely your eyes were. Sparkling with playful happiness, bright against the setting sun and wrinkled slightly at the corners. Maybe needing to wash his hair for the second time today was worth it.

Chongyun

“Y/N?”

“Yeah?” You looked up from your work, back cracking as you did.

“Do you wanna make popsicles with me? I brought all the ingredients”

You looked back to your work. It was boring, it was annoying and it was making your back hurt. Chongyun,on the other hand, was fun and lovable and made your heart happy. It was an easy choice.

However, making popsicles was not.

“WHY ARE YOU PUTTING SLIME CONDENSATE IN THOSE”

“XINGQIU SUGGESTED IT”

“XINGQIU ALSO PUTS CHILLIS IN YOUR FOOD”

“I- you make a good point”

Somehow between the playful banter, equipment breaking and ingredient testing (you found out the hard way that starshrooms aren’t stellar. Haha get it?) you both managed to fill up 2 of the 3 trays. Chongyun beamed as he pulled out the last recipe.

“Last one! Sea salt popsicles!”

“Like from Kingdom Hearts?”

“Hm?”

“Nothing!”

“Well, I got the recipe from Auntie Shenhe if that’s what you meant. She made me some and it was really good!”

He moved to pick up a glass container and you tilted your head to the right in confusion before looking at the recipe again. Nope. The recipe does not require baking soda.

“Uh, Chongyun?”

“Yes?” He asked as he carefully weighed the soda.

“That’s the baking soda”

He tilted his head to the left in confusion before answering.

“But it’s the salt?”

“Whenever I do the monthly restock I use that container for baking soda”

“Well when I do it, I use it for salt”

A moment of silence passed as the two of you realised why your dishes come out wrong sometimes. You cringed as you remembered the sour oatmeal you had once.

“Who restocked this month?”

“I don’t remember doing it”

“Me neither”

“Maybe you did it in your yang state?”

“I wouldnt have been able to in it”

Salt or baking soda? Which was it and how would you find out? Suddenly a lesson from Albedo popped into your head and you turned to him with an idea.

“Chongyun! We can see how it reacts to lemon juice-”

*nom*

Chongyun ate it.

“Oh! Thats a good idea-“ Chongyun’s face morphed into one of great disgust before he could finish his sentence as Xingqiu walked in.

“Oh yeah, when I put chillis in your food earlier this month I had to do the monthly restock. It was troublesome but worth it ” Xingqiu reminisced with a laugh. He took a sip of coffee before continuing “that’s citric acid by the way”

You turned from Xingqiu to Chongyun back to Xingqiu and to Chongyun again. The look of pure disgust on his face now making sense.

“WHY IS IT SO STRONG?”

“WHY ARE YOU SO WEAK?”

As the two bantered, you couldn’t help your laughter. Such a situation was just too ridiculous. Chongyun turned to the person who dAreD to laugh at his pain and-

What kind of divine power have you been given to look so beautiful when laughing? What kind of divine power have you been given for your eyes to look so beautiful when laughing?

They shined beautifully from your tears of joy and every wrinkle under them contained so much happiness. Perhaps eating a spoonful of citric acid was worth it to see your smile.

Cyno

Cyno rarely had days off but when he did, he used it to spend time with you. At your home in Aaru village, you were helping your housemate Candace with some chores when a light knock was heard on the door. When you opened the door Cyno grabbed you and dragged you out before yelling to Candace. "I'm going to steal them" "Ok, get them home before dark" "HOW ARE YOU OK WITH THIS, I'M BEING KIDNAPPED" You playfully fake fought against the General when he pulled something out. "I have food" "Deal"

After Candace waved you two off, he led you deeper into the desert, listening to you talk about whatever crossed your mind and enjoying the silence when you ran out of things to talk about and perhaps making bad jokes to fill it occasionally. After half an hour, your legs started to hurt but Cyno was still walking without even the slightest sign of exhuastion.

"Cyno?" "Yes?" "Where are we going?" Cyno smiled at you, slight lift t the corner of his lips only noticeable to those close to him.

"You'll see soon" he said before covering your eyes. "Hey! Cyno! What-" "I said you'd see soon, not now" He laughed, thinking his joke was hilarious and all you could do was sigh fondly. Fortunately, he wasn't lying when he said "soon". One minute later you felt him lift his hands off your eyes. And in front of you was a beautiful oasis with sparkling water and swaying trees. Soft grass was one step in front of you. So you leapt forward, dragging Cyno with you into the shimmering water. "Do you like it?" he asked, puppy eyes waiting for your approval "Yes!" You replied with a laugh. You scooped up a handful of water and threw it onto him to which he laughed and did the same. Under the moonlight-infused water drops your eyes shimmered so beautifully, wrinkles making them look like gems.

So beautiful...

So precious that Cyno stood stunned.

Xingyun and Xiaoven parallels (really cracked)

Ok so I've been thinking recently about my two absolute favourite ships (you don't have to agree with my opinion :D) and I've started to realise they have some (many) things in common.

In this post I'll be drawing similarities between the individuals of the ship (for example similarities between Venti and Xingqiu and similarities between Xiao and Chongyun as individuals. I will also be drawing similarities in the relationships (traits that show up in both Xingyun and Xiaoven)

1.Design (outfit+kit) parallels

These parallels are more fun observations than traits I'd genuinely argue

Kit

1.1 Someone who is TYPICALLY a dps x someone who is TYPICALLY a support

As for the most part Xiao and Chongyun's kits (cons, scaling, their lower ability to deal dmg off field) cater to their DPS output while Xingqiu and Venti's kits cater to their ability to support other characters (cons, scaling, their lower ability to deal dmg off field, their typical roles in teams)

1.2 Similar TYPICALLY RECOMMENDED artifacts 2.0 to 2.6 (pre Vermillion Hereafter)

This is definitely the weakest argument in this weird af section but I thought it'd be fun. After the release of Emblem of Severed fate, its 4pc became Xingqiu's BiS for his typical role. It's 4pc is also sometimes recommended for Chongyun. Xiao's recommended artifacts before 2.6 were 2pc viridescent and Venti's was 4pc viridescent.

1.3 Complimentive but not BiS kits

Though Chongyun and Xingqiu can work well together, their best teams aren't with each other. Same goes for Venti and Xiao.

Design

1.4 Short shoes x boots

Is this the weirdest similarity ever? Yes.

Chongyun (short shoes) x Xingqiu (long shoes)

Venti (short shoes) x Xiao (long shoes)

And I just noticed that both the long shoe boys have something wrapped around their calf

1.5 Poofy pants x shorts

1.5 Ahodge in x no ahodge (in drip marketing) (though, maybe venti does have one...

1.5 Cor lapis eyes x cool toned eyes

1.6 Circular pupils with a big blob of light x diamond pupils

1.7 Smiling and facing right x not smiling and facing let in drip art (and splash art)

2.2 Someone who handles spirits x someone who's artistic

As we know, Xiao conquers demons while Chongyun exorcises spirits. Xingqiu writes books and Venti plays the lyre.

3. Misc observations

3.1 Both Xingqiu and Venti have secret identities that their partners may or may not know about

It's never clearly stated if Chongyun knows Xingqiu is Zhenyu and he keeps it a secret for the most part. It's also never clearly stated if Xiao fully linked the bard that saved him to Barbatos (though it is hinted he's kinda connected the dots)

3.2 Idk what to title this

Xingqiu and Venti have worked together before (idori festival) while. Chongyun and Xiao might work together in the future as Xiao has worked with exorcists in the past.

3.3 Rant

BOTH SHIPS HAVE SUCH A GREAT AMOUNT OF POTENTIAL ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY IM GONNA WRITE A WHOLE FIC ABOUT THIS UGH.

Barbara

Immediately rushes to your side. The Flash who?

She's gentle but you can still hear the worry in her voice as she asks "Hey, what's wrong? Is there anything I can do?"

You feel her arms wrap around you, pulling you into a secure, warm hug. Her hand draws stars on your back or hand or neck or wherever you're comfortable

If you want to talk you can, and Barbara listens to you carefully. When you can't find anything else to say, gentle words of reassurance fill the air instead. "I'm right here for you ok" "Hey, take your time. I won't rush you"

Somehow, Barbara knows exactly what you need to hear and says them.

If you just want to cry in her arms then expect some super sweet tunes

Barbara knows your comfort songs and sings them only loud enough for you to hear

You eventually fall asleep because who wouldn't. Insomnia is no match for the best idol ever. She feels so happy upon seeing that you're resting well

Razor

Big worried

Doesn't know what to do at first. Most of the time his Lupical can be comforted by fresh chops of meat but the small brain inside that cranium knows that you probably wouldn't want that

Sweet, sweet wolf child copies what wolf Lupical does. You feel something wet on your cheek. Yep, you just got licked.

Bestie is pulling a "he's a little confused but he's got the spirit" (trust me, the spirit is there. Right now your smile is more important than anything, even meat)

You then feel a weight on your lap and see that Razor has laid his head on you. His pretty, curious red eyes are looking up into yours. Suddenly, they grow wide with remembrance.

Razor reaches into a clump of very, very matted grey hair and pulls out a wolf hook (you'd think it'd be inconvenient for combat or hunting but it's somehow not)

"Gift. Give. You. You is Lupical. Wolfhook helps Lupical. So wolfhook help you"

He then throws his arms around you and both of you fall to the ground

He stays with you until both of you fall asleep

Xiao

The Conquerer of Demons doesn't know how to conquer the negative emotions of humans

Literally the standing person emoji

Eventually, Xiao decides to do what Rex Lapis used to do

The Adeptus walks over to you and tries to pat your head

Except it feels more like you're a nail being hammered into the ground

Once again "he's a little confused but he's got the spirit"

Eventually, the pats become softer before turning into careful strokes through your hair

If you decide to lay down on the Yaksha's lap and sleep you won't be stopped

And you wouldn't be left alone either. Xiao will stay with you until you're feeling better
