That felt kinda old school: a naive protagonist somehow ends up traveling together with a group of quirky mercenaries. I was thinking of Daphne in the Brilliant Blue. Both protagonists are even called “Maya” (spelled differently, though). In this case seems like they were already aiming for her, we’ll see what that’s about. As a sci-fi fan, I’m glad to see that anime like this can still be made. I-machines (are interesting idea (even if the robots themselves look like fish bones. Although believe it or not, even the mechs in Turn A Gundam grew on me eventually); hopefully they won’t just relegate transferring your mind to the I-machines won’t just be relegated to the utility of it. It’s in the tagline of the show after all. If it doesn’t, then this could turn out to be pretty great.
For staff highlight I’ll only mention Goro Taniguchi (After War Gundam X, Space Dandy, Planetes).
