watching the personal note section in @teambyler 's new video for byler really truly reminded me why byler is so important. I've read stories of older queers struggling when they were youths but once I've actually heard it for myself, it had me in an absolute tears.

It has reminded me (and likely most of yall) that representation matters the most right now. Byler isn't just some ship created for us younger generations to enjoy, sitting in our bedrooms and reading fanfiction and drawing fanart of them, it's actual representation.

It's representation of all the weirdos and freaks of the 80's, the ones who were bullied and outcasted, the ones who were told that their love was wrong, the ones who could not spend their life with each other just because of some unwritten rule, it's representation of all the people who made an impact in this world but were sidelined because they were gay.

I'm not saying byler being canon will be the pinnacle of all of queer media, but I'm saying that it will make a difference. We still have a long way to go about queer rep but this will actually matter. It will matter to all the kids who grew up thinking that something was wrong with them and it will matter to the adults they have grown into today.

It might seem small to us now, but to those who lived through that era, it really matters. Byler is not just a fun pairing but a piece of essential queer representation of that decade.

GRADUATION OF 1989

the court of Hawkins High is crowded, peaceful songs filling the place along with harmonious laughter and chatting. Lucas and Dustin are talking with Steve and Robin about something that seems funny, because they're laughing like they've just heard the most funny thing in the world.

Mike and Will are standing side by side, still unsure of what to do. Their eyes sparkling and their bodies are anxious.

- " I wanted to dance with you." - Will says, looking at Mike and with clear frustation lingering in his hazel eyes.

- " Who told you we're not gonna dance? " Mike says, smirking and making Will's inside noisy and calm at the same time.

- " I know a place. " He says again, offering will his hands with cheerful eyes. Will smile, faking annoyance when everything within him is falling apart with Mike's glance.

He takes his hand and they both head to a secret place. In the end of a quiet and empty hallway, they open a dark wooden door and face an empty room, with nothing really important. Will smiles when he enters the place, feeling like he could be with Mike here, just the two of them.

- " Come here " Mike says, taking Will's hand with care and gentleness. Will follows as they close the door behind them, entering the gray, empty room.

When the door closes, Mike chuckles and his eyes spark - like he just saw a diamond, like he's in love.

- " Now let's dance! " Mike exclaims while he puts the radio, above the round wooden table on. Heroes by David Bowie is playing and Will says "This one, i love this one."

Mike stands up straight, fixing his tie and clearing his throat.

- " Wanna dance, beautiful gentleman? " - He jokes, as Will has sparkling eyes and red cheeks.

- "It seems like I don't have a choice, soo.." - Will says, ironically.

Mike gives him his hand, their eyes lingering within each other's as Mike puts his hand on Will's waist.

Will lets Mike take the lead, like he always did. Will would let Mike do anything because he trusts him, more than anyone.

Their souls connect in a balance between love and desperation for the time they lost holding themselves back from feeling it as they hear David's words:

"and we kissed as though nothing could fall

and the shame was on the other side"

Will thinks briefly: that's what love might feel like.

This reminds me of how before s4 bylers were sure that the rumours about mileven roller rink date scene and mike giving el flowers scene weren’t actually happening. They did happen. But not in the lovey dovey endgame ship kind of way. From Will’s pov it may have looked like that but we know it for sure wasn’t.

So I think it’s possible that they have filmed those mileven scenes for s5.

I just think it’s from Will’s pov again.
