If riptide was adapted into a visual formate, be it a it animated or illustrated (preferred) or live action. They should have every moment up until the Black Sea be very vibrant and colorful. (Like purposeful colors gimme that sweet sweet symbolism)

Then when they get to the thr Black Sea have all the colors of the world disappear. Except for the crew of the Albatross (and the occasional very very purposeful color, like the episode with Dopple Gilly, I want red back lighting from emergency exit signs. And I want Gillions divine magic [maybe even only prophetic screwup] to be bright blasts of color from the outside world)

And as they spend time there slowly sap their color, either until they are black and white to match their surroundings, or until they are just super desaturated. (Like when Chip takes off the bandana I think she should be fully black and white)

Then when they return, let them remain desaturated, of course slightly more color and life now they are back, but forever changed by that ocean.
