Low maintenance friendship
"High school life was the best!" We can hear this sentiment almost from anyone since the first generation. We say that high school is the most memorable, enjoyable, and unforgettable part of a teenager's life. And it is true most of the time. We tend to explore brand new adventures with our friends. We had all our "firsts" while in high school. We had all that we thought that could always be with us, forever. My high school bestfriend will always be the best thing that ever happened to me. I met her unexpectedly. We knew each other from the very beginning. We never did anything without each other. We were inseparable! Although there were times we have misunderstood each other, but it never came to the point that we'd end up our day still hating on each other. It is because I always have something to tell her! And of course, it is simply because I cannot have my day complete without my bestfriend. She is always full of surprises. That's what I love about her most of the time. We can always share thoughts and secrets. I can count on her like she can always count on me. We told each other that we will always have one another's back no matter what happens. Up until now that we have gone through many ups and downs, we still got each other. College life is busier than ever. We don't talk everyday. We lack time seeing each other. We barely knew what is happening around each other. We live everyday separately. But when time comes that we bump into each other's arms, it always feels like home. It is always like we just saw each other yesterday. I never get tired of being with her. Our friendship is not perfect. It is not easy. But the flaws in our relationship made it even stronger. It became the foundation of our love and care for each other. She became like a sister that I can never live without. It is truly awesome that I can say, since the beginning, until this very moment, up to the time that our hair will become gray, we will always have each other. Always. @iamproudbeingateacher Santos, Patricia Mae P. MD1Y2-6

Christmas in my Heart
Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. It is the season of full happiness, giving, and lots of love. Everyone starts preparing early for the upcoming season. The best way to celebrate Christmas is celebrating it with the most important people in our lives, our loved ones. When I was younger, it took us almost three months preparing for Christmas. My dad started to put up Christmas lights around our home. I helped my mom to build up our beautiful Christmas tree with full of lights and decorations. We started packing up gifts for our family and friends and put them below the Christmas tree. On Christmas eve, my mom started to cook delicious cuisines that made our mouths water. On exactly twelve midnight, everyone would sit down around the Christmas tree and we'd open all the gifts one by one. It has always been my favorite part until now! Then, my Christmas sock would always be filled with candy cranes and chocolates. Oh how I love Christmas! But, as time pass by, everything passes too. My grandfather and grandmother passed away. It is way too early for me. I do not think I have had enough Christmas with them. And I wish I could have more. But God has a plan. He is always good. He kept us happy and blessed even already without my grandparents. And as time passes, people start to forget the true reason for this wonderful season. The true essence of Christmas is to remember how Jesus Christ our Lord changed our lives forever. He was born by the Virgin Mary to save us from our sins. That is the most beautiful part of our being. My heart is forever grateful for the unconditional love God gives us. Santos, Patricia Mae P. MD1Y2-6 @iamproudbeingateacher

Social but not so social
As we all know, technology today is completely advanced. Human resources all over the world are improving technological objects progressively. Cellphones, tablets, laptops and other gadgets are being used all the time. Most of people are lacking time to communicate with other people verbally because they are so into modern technology, like social networking. Yes, it is still social communication but they tend to use it more likely than talking personally. Talking and chatting can be more fun and genuine if we do it directly to someone. Whenever me and my friends go out, I always prefer not to look at my cellphone except if it's an emergency text or call. I always look up for a nice, quality conversation with whom I keep company. When it is meal time, my mom would get mad for using cellphones in front of the dining table. She would always say, "This is not the right time for that. This is the time that you talk to family," which is right. When dining at home, togetherness is a must. And it will always be the right time to have quality conversation with your household. I have two siblings that are still toddlers. They love to watch children's videos in Youtube. But I always see to it that they will not be too exposed to modern gadgets. I talk to them a lot to teach them beginner words. I read real books with them because our mom always wanted them to learn the alphabet and as early as they can. I always tell them to go out to the streets with me so that they can hear real birds tweeting and see real trees dancing through the wind, something the iPad cannot provide. Our world is now a modern world. Everything is developing rapidly. New generations cannot see what we saw before technology enraged. They won't be able to see life as simple as it is. Let us help them. We may not bring back the old ages, but we can always bring up to them what we have learned during our unforgettable childhood. @iamproudbeingateacher

“A Life Sustained”
“To us, family means putting around your arms around each other and being there.” Barbara Bush
There have been only a few people that stayed by my side throughout my existence. They are my family. Biological or not, complete or incomplete, as long as they chose to provide life for me and to love me unconditionally, they will always be my family.
Family is my companion. I never felt like I was being left behind in every situation. My mom and dad were always, always there whenever I need them. I always need them. It came to the point that I thought I wasn’t growing up anymore, that I was being dependent to them often times. But I chose to explore life as a growing young lady. I know I will learn more outside the shell. And I’m still learning. Sometimes I feel that soon enough, maybe they will stop watching me. But I guess that will be the most impossible thing that will ever happen.
Family is my rock. When I started being a teenager, it seemed like I entered a battle field for the beginners. They say teenage years are the most difficult times for a person. You get to be prohibited from doing things you wanted to experience. But in every hesitation, in every question out of curiosity, my parents never failed to explain every single detail that I must understand. There are times that it took time for me to take in what they just said, but when I finally realized it, there’s nothing else I felt but gratefulness. Their guidance will never fade.
Family is a blessing I never thought I could ever have. I have been an only child for fifteen years. Since I was just a young girl, I’ve always prayed for siblings. Until God’s perfect time has arrived. I had a little brother (Miguel) back in 9th grade. My heart was contained with overwhelming happiness that I couldn’t explain. Not so long time after that, I had my little sister (Isabelle). That’s when I started to witness miracles. My life became as colorful as it is right now. Our God is a great God. He indeed can make all things beautiful in His time.
