CAN YOU TELL SOME BANDSTORYYLINE-UP?

DEAD:

To make this short I tell of the most important matters here, first of all we've heard of all together about 15 other bands called MAYHEM... And what we think of that is that we'll never change name 'cos we were the first. We started as a real band in '84 when Euro's band called MAYHEM and Necro's band (with Manheim) called MUSTA were put together. But the name is already from '82. And the "crap MAYHEM" from Oregon, USA released their poser record a half year after our mini-LP. The most of the other MAYHEM's are split up now but I know some of 'em are still left as the one's from Hungary and Uruguay for example. The first demo "Pure Pucking Armageddon" were recorded in '86 in only 100 copies and it's sold out since ages ago and not aviable, but we'll maybe give it out on vinyl some dark day though and maybe on CD. "Deathcrush" will be released on vinyl again for sure, and then with another front cover than the ltd.ed. of course.

The line-up has changed since the recording of "Deathcrush" Maniac (ex.vocalist) and Manheim (ex.drummer) left the band straight after the recording. I begun in the spring 188 and Hellhammer joined a few weeks later. By the way I've to tell that the ex.drummer Manheim'a real name is Manheim some people have asked if he took his name from the German concentration camp "Mannhsia", but he did not. Now we are:Dead (20 years)-vocals, Euronymous (21 years)-guitar, Necrobutcher (21 years)-bass and Hellhammer (20 years)- drumms. So many have asked what Euronynoys means, so I better tell it here,it means "Prince of death" in Greek. "Deathcrush" were recorded in '87 and the demo in still aviable for 5 US$ (or any currency that's the same amount as 5 US $).I also have to tell that the old band I was singing in before, in Sweden, MORBID will have one more gig (as the final)-but I can't say the time for that...

DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS TO RELEASE ANY NEW DEMO OR SOMETHING ON VINYL?

We hope we can go in studio in march to record for a full lenght LP that'll be entitled "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanss". That name is latin for Lord Satan'a secret rites and it comes from a ghost story I read, it was a book of human flesh (of course) that got forces greater and darker than any human can imagine of. A "wrong" person found that book in the story and it was so evil that he started to bleed (and died later in torture of course), unfortunately that book exist in only one copy but I try to find it and I won't give up!

CAN YOU TELL SOMETHING SICK OR GORY YOU'VE SEEN?

DEAD:

By movies Evil Dead (especially part one) is the best in evil and brutality above everything But except of that the most gory I ever have seen is Karle'n eating pizza!

Hail Euronymous! Firstly, tell the people out there when you started and your current line up.

We started in 1984, as you know. The line up today is Euronymous-guitar Blackthorn-guitar Hellhammer-drums. Count Grishnackh drums. We're not sure who's going to do the vocals in the future On the album it's the vocalist from the Hungarian Tormentor-Attila Csihar

When was the last time you did a show and what have been your greatest responses?

We haven't played live since the gig in Izmar. Turkey in December 1990. The best show when it comes to response was probably the gig we did in a place called Annaberg near the Karl-Marx-Stadt in East Germany on the same tour in 50 it was grest, there are a lot of black metal fans there

How well did the first and last demo's actually sell?

We sold about 4-500 copies of the Deathcrush deme and about 150 of the Pure Fucking Armageddon It hasn't been long since we re-released it

Tell us something about your songs and how you come up with lyrics. How are you inspired to make such evilness happen?

We are inspired by our hatred towards humanity, the goodness and happiness. And we are inspired both musically and lyrically by the evil nature of the northern lands and the darkness and cold up here Dead, who did the lyrics for the Lp, was also inspired by his dreams of Transylvania, ancient legends and dark church yards and so on. Concerning our songs, we try to put as much atmospheres and moods into them as possible. We use not only one-string riffs as most other bands, but we use accords various methods of sliding of the tones I don't really know how to express that in english the new stuff is rather complicated built up, we don't just make riffs anymore we compose But we do NOT play any techno stuff You better listen to the music and hear for yourself
