U.S. Involvement in Syria
My take on theU.S. involvement in the Syrian civil war is that theU.S. is bum hurt becauseSyria decided to do what it wanted with its own problems. I think this is Obama’s problem though not ours for making empty threats at everyone to try and pretend he is a competent leader. I was for going to war againstSyria before I looked more into the issue recently and looked at whoSyria was fighting. Frankly I would rather haveSyria in power. I looked up some articles (listed below) that I found information on the subject. I was startled and angered at the barbarian tactics used by the rebels and disturbed by the reports and the videos of Syrian rebel commander eating the heart and liver of a Syrian soldier.
Our government only talks about the barbarism ofSyria but not of the Rebels. Democrats and Republicans inWashington are both pushing for the war and it angers me because they do not know who they are helping. Senator McCain traveled over toSyria awhile back and posted a photo on Twitter saying: the brave rebels need our help. Those same people in the photo were involved in a kidnapping. It just goes to show the grand levels of ignorance our politicians are going to everyday while being ‘public servants’.
Also on top of everything it would be dangerous for us to go to war with them, becauseRussia andChina are allies withSyria and are preparing to helpSyria now.Russia has sent a cargo ship with missiles and other military aid headed forSyria andRussia’s leader has spoken to Obama with no success, only distress at our actions. If we press this engagement ofSyria andRussia takes a shot at us while accidental or otherwise this could be world war III over some hole in the wall backwater country. Tensions are high.
I do not think we should go to war with Syria, I think Obama should give a statement saying we have decided to let Syria deal with its own rebellion its own way. I personally think that our government is employing the never waste a crisis mentality not realizing we are getting into a big thing.Russia has an important port inSyria and does not want to lose it. If we help the rebels then it could start a world war. Even if Obama gets his way and the rebels win, the new government will likely be a pawn of the new Muslim Brotherhood which is getting its fingers in new regimes all over theMiddle East since the ‘Arab Spring’ earlier this year. It is a mistake to help the rebels, I hope we do not, but I think there is a small chance our leaders will listen to reason.
